Anderson moving permanently to Plymouth ?
Reekie_Red replied to BigAl's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I mind when his leg got crocked and he was out for a good season. It took Anderson a LONG time to return to full fitness. But once he was up to full fitness he was pretty damn immense for us. I think Plymouth fans will be pleasantly surprised by how much Anderson improves once he's got a run of games under his belt. Although part of me hopes that he doesn't improve, so that we can take him back here on a free -
3rd place - lets play with some optimism for a week ?
Reekie_Red replied to Ajja's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I think this sums it up for me really. To get to the last 32 of Europe's top CUP competition (the CL is a league, hehe!), not to mention the semi final of BOTH national cups. The Aberdeen players owe it to us to fight on until we either get third place, or another result from another fixture (ie NOT an Aberdeen game) makes it mathmatically impossible for us to get 3rd place. Like has been said before, if the Old Firm play to their potential then we are in with a chance. The fact that the league has not been decided yet will work in our favour, because the bigot brothers will be going all out to make sure they are not the side to slip up. And the onus is on Motherwell to actually get something out of those games-in-hand that they have. I am quietly confident that we can get good results from the Motherwell and Rangers games. It's the United game that worries me. Those pikey arab bastards have well and truly screwed us this season, and I think they will do it again. -
Anderson moving permanently to Plymouth ?
Reekie_Red replied to BigAl's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Plymouth?? Yes, Russell will love it for the reason that he is seeing regular first-team football (he's not seen that since leaving Pittodrie). But I doubt his missus is going to settle there easily. She's an Aberdeen lass through and through, and I'm quite surprised she's survived this long so far. Perhaps Sunderland ain't that far away from Scotland has something to do with it. But Plymouth??? And seeing that cunt Chris Clark again??? He alone will drive the Andersons back north of the border. And if he comes back over the border, there's only one club he will ever sign for. -
I disagree. Derek was the more committed player. Sure, Darren had the skill, but he very rarely used it. He was made to look better than he was because Roberto Bisconti was basically nursing Darren through the Aberdeen midfield. When Bisconti stopped playing for us, Darren was found out for the shite that we knew he always was. And when the chips were down, he "did a Severin" and started blaming others. At least Derek keeps his head up when the shit is hitting the fan. He always seems to try his best regardless of how shite everyone else is doing at the time. The only contract I will be happy to see Darren sign is one that says "I hereby agree to never set foot in Aberdeen again".

Tonights EE: Jimmy Lay off the local heroes
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
The difference between us and Dunfermline, Jimmy, is we don't put up with shite "just because they're local loons". We'll happily sign our worst enemies if we knew they were going to enhance our squad. Fact of the matter is Mair and Duff degrade our squad, rather than enhance it in any way. -
Yep. Good idea. I know it's possible to do as well. Just gotta figure out how to do it

Haha. This would actually reverse the request from last summer's close-season alterations. Last year, we had the suggestion to only quote a single message, instead of quoting what everybody had said previously. This came about because some messages were becoming absolutely huge in their size purely because of the amount of quotes of quotes of quotes of quotes that showed before the actual message

I know how to score goals. Doesn't mean that I CAN score goals! Same principle applies to Duff, Jimmy!
-
I added them the day they were announced! You might want to do a internet cache refresh on your computer

Eddie Turnbull did a mass clearout of a very established squad when he arrived. This succeeded in weeding out a sense of comfort and happy-with-mediocrity at Pittodrie, and started the path that eventually led to giving Alex Ferguson the basis of a squad with which to build his championship side. Question is ... will Calderwood bite the bullet and get rid of the likes of Mair, Foster, Mackie and Duff?
-
Based on the default theme, but it's all our own CSS.

I know we seem to bring this topic up every close-season. But what would people like to see on DonsTalk? Is there something that needs improving? Something that needs changing? Should we stop doing something? Should we start doing something? Should we leave things the way they are? Have your say here, and you might just see your idea appearing next season.
-
I thought that also. I have a contract with my current employer. Be fucked if I can remember where it is, nevermind carrying it around so that I can rip it up at a convenient moment.
-
Aye, but do you mind Northsound's commentary. McDiarmid: "And it's another disastrous goal for Dundee!" Shinie: "There's no way we should be letting goals in against teams like this!"
-
Has Bartez retired yet? He'd surely boost the numbers at Pittodrie ... a la Champagne Charlie. Give us a big name (regardless of age) and the crowds will come to see him. Someone like Bartez would be loved at Aberdeen
-
Maybe he should consider changing his preferred position. Gattuso refused to believe he was a defender when Dick told him he was. But Gattuso has gone on to be one of Italy's most consistent defenders. Now, I'm not placing Gattuso and Foster in the same league, cos let's face it ... Foster would win hands down, cos he's a laugh in the dressing room. But perhaps he needs to be told he is a defender. Much like Willie Miller being told he was not a striker!
-
Hmmm interesting. Wonder if De Visscher has alerted Jimmy to Postma's ability and availability. Was it Villa who bought him for $2million or something like that a couple of seasons ago???

Willie Miller looks at positives from Dons' season
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Perhaps not. But maybe running a few incentives. Remember the two-for-one deal a few seasons ago? It ended up in our biggest crowd of the season being a mid-season league game vs St Johnstone. We need to generate some sort of interest in the game again. Inviting new fans to pittodrie might be a way of doing this, just as it was for the St Johnstone match. -
What's even more surprising is that Bus and Duff still have more votes each than McNamara. Bye bye, Jackie!
-
There's good pies in Stonehaven? Where??? Robertson's Bakery does okay pies. Everywhere else does those shitey rubbery scotch pies that you get at Pittodrie.
-
Wish we could've got Schmeichel when we first looked at him a year ago. We said nah. He went to Man City. And he produced some phenomenal displays for them. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with him in goals than either Bonny or Soapy.

Nicholson, Miller, Aluko & Walker - all leaving
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Potential that the England setup can see ... but clearly JC cannot. -
Stewart Milne take note.
Reekie_Red replied to Friedrichs Moustache's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Agreed. When we signed McNamara, I was thinking that he would be an ideal replacement for Anderson in terms of experience and ability. Oh how I was wrong. All the experience and ability count for jack shit when you don't have the hunger or desire to apply your full potential ... or even half of your potential! McNamara's probably been the most disappointing signing we've made in a long long time (maybe Lovell is on a par), primarily due to the ability we all know he has, compared to the product we've received from him. -
Can't believe this! The first two posts I read in this thread have seen a seething pain shoot up my arm! I'd rather inject ink into my eyeball than read those two posts again!! Darren Young, Ryan Esson, Scott Wilson AND Jackie McNamara? Does Jimmy actually want any fans to follow the Dons next season? If this is the caliber of players he's looking at, he might as well leave right now. I'd rather have Jim Jeffries' bumchum club of players playing for us than JC's lot. At least there's a few decent players in Jeffries chummy squad. Darren Young? RYAN ESSON ??? :hammer: :hammer: I might have to find something else to do with my spare time than following the Dons. Hell, I'd rather watch cricket than follow a team that has Ryan Esson AND Darren Young in it.

... and a Tim has ANYTHING to gloat about this season? Fuckin glass houses, and all that!
