  1. Aye I went online to find the price of a RedTV subscription, and ended up browsing around the shop for about an hour. Some pretty decent things in there. I've nae bought anything from the club shop since my AFCUK boxers about ten years ago. Still got them, but jeeeez those things hold a few frightning tales from years gone by! Love the look of the third strip. Could be tempted by this top for my indoor footy, cos our team plays in white:
  2. Wouldnae surprise me if the Aberdeen City Council were waiting for us to say no before they gave this project the green light. Aberdeen City Council certainly haven't made an effort to cover up the fact that they detest AFC. Anything and everything that AFC applies for gets knocked back by the council. Fuckwits
  3. Credibility really depends on who that SPL player is. If it's someone like Mackie, I'd pass that up as "that fucker's gonna take our god-given places in the team. Let's bring them down a notch"
  4. Point taken, MarkyMark. Actually, come to think of it, didn't we forge a deal with the Brisbane Roar footbal team back in Aitken's reign?
  5. Holy shit! Couldnae believe my eyes when I read this one!! Fantastic news for us if it means some reserve Espanyol players being shipped out to us on a regular basis! Clickey linkey Aberdeen tie up deal to sign up La Liga starlets from Espanyol Aug 22 2009 Ian Orr ABERDEEN last night struck a deal with Espanyol that will see La Liga talent pitching up at Pittodrie. Willie Miller brokered the exciting partnership with the Spanish outfit who will receive a percentage of any stars sold on by the Dons. Mark McGhee has already reaped rewards from that tie-up by landing former Espanyol and Parma defender Davide Grassi after he impressed on trial. The Italian will sign a one-year contract and will be in place against Hamilton today if they manage to complete the paperwork in time. Manager McGhee is also licking his lips at the prospect of working with players from the world's greatest league. McGhee, who has struggled to bring in new players because of financial restrictions, said: "The tie-up came about from a contact Willie had at Espanyol who said they wanted to send a couple of players over and start a relationship with ourselves. "Espanyol said they would make it easier for us to sign their players if we wanted to. "We hope this will be an ongoing relationship and it has been a really positive start." On Grassi, McGhee added: "The deal has to be financially right for us regarding Grassi but it looks as though that will be the case. He'll get a contract and as well as being physically right, he's a good player." The Dons have a major injury list that includes Zander Diamond and Gary McDonald and McGhee has pleaded for patience from fans who have already witnessed three straight defeats. He said: "It's ridiculous to say this game is must win - I am here for the long haul. "I will never be the best manager in this club's history, there is another hard act to follow, but I certainly want to make an impression and that does not happen in a day. "Change is needed within the squad and we will keep chopping away at it for however long it takes. If that involves winning at Hamilton then great, if not, we will get on with it. "Would I swap the Aberdeen job for the Hamilton job? Clearly not. They have brought money in while we have not but I know it is not going to happen overnight here. "The fans have to understand there is only a finite amount of money. "If I had a pile of money there would be a lot more change here but we do not so we have to take our time so everyone has to be patient. "We are not playing Celtic or Sigma, we are playing Hamilton and we should be at least be equal terms to them in terms of workrate. It will be a case of who works hardest will win the game." Lee Miller, linked with a move to Middlesbrough, insisted his priority is to put points on the board for Aberdeen. The striker said: "It was flattering to hear there was interest because even having your name connected to a team such as Middlesbrough is great from a confidence point of view. "But my priority is doing the job for Aberdeen and I want to do well for Mark McGhee and turn things around. "This is not a massive squad but it's a quality one and we have the players who can prove that starting at Hamilton." McGhee will meet an old foe today after Leon Knight signed a short-term deal at Accies. Striker Knight fell out with McGhee when he was at Brighton and has had contracts terminated by Wycombe and Rushden and Diamonds over a turbulent past 18 months. However, Accies boss Reid:"Leon has lost his way a bit but the flip side is that, if he was still banging in the goals regularly in England, we could not have afforded to get him. "It's a fresh start for him. He knows the situation and he has to get his head down. I'm sure he will. "Leon is only 26 and can prove to the doubters and himself he can be the player he promised to be."

    Arcade

Arcade is currently switched off whilst I figure out what the problem is. Seems to be randomly giving a blank screen, but I know there's a few of you who are experiencing this issue. Arcade should be back in the next few days. Sorry for the inconvenience!
  7. I was probably unfair to Irvine by saying "no contest". But also to be fair, if judging Anderson against Viduka, that would've been a very very young stage in Anderson's career. I do, however, remember the moment I noticed Anderson for the first time. A stunning last-man catchup tackle from behind on an Eric Bo Andersen who was bearing down on a very very worried looking Michael Watt about thirteen years ago. One inch later or sooner, and Russell would've been sent off for fouling as last man. But against the likes of Viduka, Anderson would've been no older than 19. Like I say, with both players on top form, I would have Anderson over Irvine any day, as Anderson's peak performances were some way ahead of Irvine's peaks.
  8. Seriously, though. Anderson was a lot better than Dobbin. For all his honesty and commitment, Dobbin had the turning speed of yer average Maersk container ship. He gave his all to the Aberdeen jersey. But let's face it ... his all vs Anderson's all is no contest really.
  9. I once saw Barren Mackie have a good game. True stor.... haha, sorry, even I couldnae pull that off as a true story.
  10. If it's happening every year, maybe these players should start considering upping their game!
  11. Shit ... I, I mean GOAL!
  12. Hamilton win = Jager win. Aberdeen win = Jager doesnae care about the 50 quid, cos the Dons have won anyway. A win win situation for you ... uinless of course it ends up a draw.
  13. And the honestly expect the average Gorgie/Sighthill resident to be able to read that many words?

    Arcade

Do you know how to do a screenshot? When you go to the arcade, press the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard. Now open any graphics program, such as "paint". Paste the contents of the clipboard into a NEW picture and save the image as either a .gif, .jpg or .bmp. Can you do this and email me your screenshot? reekie_red at hotmail.com
  15. Ye coulda at least tried to dress up a bit, Jim. Good to see this sorta stuff. If the youth system is gonna produce more players like Pawlett and Paton, then I'm all for chucking money at that rather than some unknown foreign player who's no better than the shite we've already got here.
  16. OR .... Stillie Buchan, Tzvetanov, Inglis, Woodthorpe [shudder]

Hmmmm. What browser you using, snapper? Have you recently upgraded to IE8 by any chance?
  18. How the fuck did a Celtic fan survive on The Y ?? Doubt he would've got out alive after the final whistle
  19. Yeah I saw the headline on Abz-Mad. Got a chuckle outa me, anyway
  20. I'm in agreement with you there, Azteca. Spiers, if anything, writes favourably towards the east-coast teams. He writes very fairly, in particular, about Aberdeen and Dundee Utd. I've never read an unjust harsh word from him about us. Yes he says some harsh stuff, but it is always justified ... unlike Keevins and Traynor who just just spurt garbage about us for the sake of pissing us off.
  21. I didn't quote GD regarding the current team. I quoted him because he was one person on this board that thought we'd sign Hughes.
  22. Hmmm. A very quick search found this ... I thought we'd get him too. So that's two people for starters. You give up too easily. Like I've already said since the defeat, we played the league's strongest side, who have just hired a Premiership-class manager and several £multi-million signings. If you put yer toys back in the pram during the second half, you would've seen that we actually played some decent football. Whether or not Celtic took their foot off the gas, they were still the same 18 players selected by Tony Mowbray to get the club off to a winning start. Remember, our much-heralded 4-2 win over Celtic last season came when they were definitely not firing on all cylinders! You wouldn't dare devalue that win, would you? There's ten other clubs in the SPL that get to play this season. I reckon we're gonna do alright. Clearly you think otherwise, but that's the difference between a glass-half-full supporter and a glass-half-empty supporter.
  23. Our next three are against Hamilton, Motherwell and Falkirk. Even coasting in first gear, Celtic are streets ahead of these teams. I stand by my judgment. If we play against these three teams the way we did in the 2nd half vs Celtic, we'll get 9 points.
  24. Miller should be fighting for a move away from Aberdeen this season. He's got a number of clubs with one eye on him. I suppose his history is to play for whoever offers him the most cash. But I'd like to think we'd bite Middlesbrough's hand off if they offered £700k. Reckon McGhee would be able to do plenty with that.
