I can easily write a piece of html script to call up a javascript, say 5 seconds after the page opens, that runs some malware on the destination PC. Giving any and every DonsTalk member the ability to spread viruses, malware or spyware is something I'm not prepared to do.
-
Ah, I've just seen what you mean in the "Bring A Buddy" thread. No version of DonsTalk has ever allowed HTML to be incorporated in posts. Allowing full html is just too risky, and those with the right html coding knowledge can embed viruses, malware and spyware within html that yer everyday DonsTalker wouldn't have a clue even existed ... until their computer becomes infected.

Explain? What's the problem you are having?

I tried my best to watch the game on the only video stream I could find. The clarity was excellent, but the streaming speed was bloody aweful and the screen thus froze every 8 or 9 seconds. I blame Mackie and Miller and 4-3-3. Pawlett was a joy to watch, though. Has the SPL ever seen so many draws on a match weekend? I think Hamilton were the only team to notch up a win this weekend. Oh how it joyed me to see that score against the "total football" side of Hibernian.

Yes. But in order to upgrade the site to the new software version, I had to disable almost all the little tools, addons and features moments before upgrading. After upgrading the site I reenabled most of the tools, but despite testing these successfully on the test-site, it's only once the site is in use by you guys that the issues are starting to appear. For example, there's heaps of features that I don't use on a regular basis (some not at all!) that I know some of you do use. So testing the new software was only really achievable by getting you guys to point out any problems you're having.

Mark McGhee: It's time for Aberdeen kids to grab their chance

or Ebbe with the Laudrup brothers Or Pele and ... err ... Dennis Wyness -
Boooooo! Ban this optimist!

Ace-ik? Would ye go as far as to say it's doss-ik? Being honest, I actually tested the newer software out considerably on a test version of DonsTalk that I have set up on a different server and everything works fine from my testing. But the things that are cropping up are things I simply wasn't able to test on my own, so decided to launch the new software on the running version of DonsTalk and iron out any issues as you guys find them.

Welcome aboard the good ship Pittodrie, Colin. Let's face it, you were always going to be part of McGhee's management team at Pittodrie. The notion of pinching Hans Segers from PSV was all just a very poorly devised smokescreen so that the management could say "of course we're not going for Meldrum ... although he'd be nice to have onboard". Let's hope you've got a lot more than just keeper-coaching qualities, cos although he didn't have much else in his bag of tricks, Auld Bandy made Preece and Langfield into respectable keepers!

Whilst I don't wanna try making excuses for this sort of action ... The Record is saying the reported incidents have happened in the opening three games of the season. Erm, excuse me but we've not played in Dundee yet.

McGhee on the transfer situation...

Oh I dunno. You know how much those Hibees love their heroin -
I say fuck them. If a club wants to spend more that it makes on wages, and they then go to the wall with the administrators, they deserve everything they get. Clubs like Aberdeen fail to sign players all the time because of ridiculous wage demands from the players. Why should idiots like Hearts get away with this sort of crap? Nothing would make me laugh more than seeing Hearts go to the wall because their financial backers have pulled out and they can't afford to pay wages. I think the onus should be on the clubs to watch their own spending, not the governing bodies.

are the games too big now? They look fine on my screen, but then mine is a 22" widescreen. I can reduce the size of all games if you like. Send me a screenshot of how big they are on your screen and I'll adjust accordingly ... reekie_red at hotmail.com

Willie Miller on Closure of Transfer Window
Reekie_Red replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Hate to say it, but those two are probably our most profitable assets at the moment. Depending on how they go in the first half of this season, I wouldn't put it past us selling the pair of them for a very tidy profit in January. Anyone know what sort of contracts they're both on? -
I've re-enabled the Youtube Embedding facility, but am still working on the automatic embedding. As such, if you want to embed a YouTube video, you'll need to surround the link with [ youtube] and [ /youtube ] (without spaces). This is just whilst I figure out how to re-enable the automatic embedding.
-
Try the games again. I've managed to increase the play-screen size of all the games (might actually be too big for some screens now!!). K9, quirie, can you both let me know if you can see the games? Anyone else got any problems, let me know

New chat system in place. http://www.donstalk.co.uk/messageboard/chat/ Can I get any budding testers to try this link and see if you can successfully use the realtime chat system?
-
Yup. I've not added the youtube embedding yet. And I'm still utilising the standard quick-reply, rather than the advanced one that includes smileys etc. These will be gradually added back on over the next day or two. Something that is a priority is the realtime chat. The software I've been using so far (X7 Chat) hasn't been updated by the developers in over a year and is now no longer compatible with the new forum software I've just installed. Currently looking at alternatives, and I hope to have a new chatroom in place for the Motherwell match kickoff

Works fine for me on Firefox. What browser you chaps using?
-
The site has undergone a major upgrade today. As such, you'll notice some things in different places, and some things don't exist whatsoever (such as the arcade scores, sorry!). I'll gradually be bringing the different features of the site back online over the next 2 days, bit by bit. But if you notice any niggling problems, report them on this thread, or email me on reekie_red at hotmail.com

Good een. "Having a bucket of water tipped over my head as I walk through the door was as funny the 57th time as it was the 1st"
