Tempted by the 'Aye but no' option.
The results are much the same. We seem largely incapable of beating anyone of any quality higher than ourselves. Not sure of the exact stats but I'm pretty sure our record against the top six is as bad as I've ever seen it. Even when times were tough before we seemed capable of raising our game on occaision - it just seems now we have no higher standard to raise it to and we'll continue to patch together points against similarly beleagured and poor sides.
Is the squad any better after two transfer windows? In personnel possibly, but good additions such as Osbourne and Arnason are offset by the likes of Maguire and Aluko leaving. No matter what is said and how badly the latter two managed their departures, they would have improved us this season. At the back and up front we seem to have the same level of journeyman cloggers. What is most frustrating about the squad is that the imbalances we lamented McGhee for persist. No-one can convince me that we cannot sign full-backs better than McArdle or wingers better than Milsom.
I don't know if its going to get any better. Brown seems to be convinced that we're playing well and the table shows us in a false position but I don't buy that at all, our fundamental ability to get results has been poor all season. And I'm fucked if I can see any real evidence of that improving soon.
