  1. There's some prize horsehit in this thread for sure. JC did a decent job for us, clearly the best of a bad bunch we've had in the past few years/decades. Like most managers, he ended up being sacked after results didn't match what was expected of the fans/board. there was also the issue of the style of play we adopted near the end of his tenure which was pretty poor. what has happened to the club since means nothing in regards to Calderwood. if anything, the man himself is probably glad now he got binned when he did, as it left a faint whiff of "what if" for him to cling onto, as opposed to if he'd stayed on and presided over our downward spiral to even deeper depths to the point where the JCMG campagin would been unanimous.
  2. I said in the Chris Clark signs thread, that I wasn't pleased at having him back and got slated for not giving the guy a chance. I gave him a chance during his first spell with the dons, and figured we need hungry players pulling on the shirt. Not someone coming back 'home' at the end of his career. which was why I thought it was the wrong signing. anyone can miss a pen, but having not seen many recent games, what's his general contribution been so far?
  3. Last night I went to bed, even after getting the txt through about Fallon's equalizer. I simply don't care anymore. part of me knew we'd still lose it. part of me was even disappointed with the equalizer, because it might have meant those c*nts masquerading as my club were going to get off the hook for another 90 mins of cheating the fans. I've got a 12 yr old son, who lives in Glasgow with his mum. all of her family are Rangers fans but I made a point of bringing him up a dons fan like myself. Hard going at times, because youngsters want nothing more than to be the winning team all the time. somehow I still managed it. I'm so crushed with apathy now, that I have started to regret inflicting him with the joke club that is Aberdeen FC. if any of fortnightly visits to Glasgow from London ever coincide with a central belt game, I'd make a point of taking him to see it. I'm due up this weekend and there's no chance I'm shelling out any cash to go to Fir Park. I'm finished. If Scottish football is fucked, then Aberdeen FC is at the forefront of the penetration, wilfully taking all comers. if there's any decent form of protest, then I'll happily join it if I think it will make a difference. but unfortunately I think our support is taking a leaf from the squad's book now and giving up without a fight. We're all so very tired, and who can blame us. We should be angry but it's been a slow drawn out death and the sooner it's over the better. RIP AFC. Thanks for the (pre 1996) memories.
  4. I don't see any reserve games etc, but a fair few folk seem to think Paton is defintely talented. Yet the past few managers haven't taken to him and played others that some fans feel are poorer players before him. makes you wonder if he's just one of these players that can't be ersed in training, or has something wrong with his attitude. he's spent 2 or 3 seasons unable to get into a side with a serious lack of talent so either there is another issue or he is in fact shite.
  5. Fair enough. I admire your optimism. Years of freebie foreign imposters unable to keep mackie out the team have left a sceptical auld c**t these days.
  6. Forgive my negativity, but delighted for what reason?
  7. Maybe someone should ask these arseholes who call themselves fans why they aren't booing Archie Knox? probably because Knox would take their heads off if they tried to abuse him. there's not enough expletives to cover the contempt I feel for these dickheads.
  8. What special kind of cunt goes to pre-season game to give nonsensical abuse like that? Never mind not endearing himself to the fans, I'd have been happy if Foster went over and panelled the fuckin nobs that were shouting abuse. Utter embarrassment. Small minded dickheads don't half give our support a bad name at times. No doubt the Daily Ranger will pick up on this.
  9. source was a text from AFC, so it should be on the website.
  10. that's sure to split opinion on here!
  11. on the online shop size guide, it says that for a kid aged 13-14, the size to pick is XS (32-34 inch chest). but this is only available in the adults section. so are they saying that if you're 13 you need to buy an adult jersey? bit of a rip off!
  12. I'm just offering opinion based on the last 200 or so times he had the shirt on. it's hardly a character assasination, it's an appraisal based on past performance. There wasn't much fuss when he left an average side a few years ago, so I'm not massively excited by him coming back. It's got no bearing on whether I'll be backing him when he plays. That should go without saying.
  13. I hope he proves me wrong, but I'm joining the "not inspired" camp on this one. ex player, goes down south to do very little in footballing terms. sorts out his retirement fund, and then comes back up to graze on the grass of Pittodrie for the last few years of his career.
  14. K He had 1 good game against valencia. If that's what it takes to be a million pound champions league player these days, then there's shitloads of them out there. He hasn't even been a regular In the huns team. To say we can't replace Ricky foster for less than 1 million is incredible. If we had 1 million to spend and Craig Brown blew it all on an average utility player there be a baying crowd at pittodrie with pitch forks. Let's all get some perspective please.
  15. I hope the board are strong too. but those of you wanting 7 figure sums need to lay off the glue. It's Ricky foster ffs.
  16. to be fair, 400k disappearing into the bowels of the club, would be a lot less painful to me than some little ned firing 35 yard shots into the crowd, when there's 2 easy balls ahead into the box for a goal scoring opportunity for a team mate. every fucking game. lets face facts. he thought he was better than us. it turns out, the market says *cough* no. I've already said he's a talented boy when it all clicks and in *some* games this season, he's been our best player. but that's not nearly often enough. and making wanker gestures at the folk you are there to do the job for is not on. so I would take Aluko ten times over Maguire. Even if it's only because aluko knows the WHOLE alphabet. so he wants another 2 years of Maccy D vouchers until Darlington come calling. Sorry beat it Christopher. don't worry, I'm sure you can catch the old firm games in most pubs in league 2 towns. We might be struggling for talent, but we're not the old firm. we don't ignore the fact people are actually socially inept, just because they can do more than 10 keepy ups. (when he ends up top scorer next year, I'll claim this post was his inspiration)
  17. if we give him the 2 year contract he wants, he basically gets paid for another 2 years to be a whinging little ned, knowing that he can walk at the end of it to whatever pish league side he wants, for a big wage increase. There's no doubting that on his day he's one of our most talented players, and when he can be bothered he can look like the hungriest player on the park. but I also think I'd rather have 400k for him right now, than another 2 seasons of 'hoping' he's gonna realise his potential and sort out some serious character flaws. Also, what message does that show to the other up and coming youngsters? act like a spoilt little dick, and you will get what you want. Offer him the 2 years contract, but less money than the 3 year one. see what really motivates him.
  18. Apparently Harley will be confirmed as Alloa boss tomorrow. Thought he was gonna do his coaching badges first, maybe hes allowed to do them while on the job.
  19. what exactly is this bit in bold based on? as much as I admire your optimism, regardless of Brown's eye for a player I can't see how anyone can be anything close to sure that we're gonna get decent players in. our club has been a conveyer belt of folk that make me angry I didn't try a bit harder at becoming a professional myself! Milsom has been a good spot by Brown, but then Blackman has been another drain on air/cash/hope. and regardless of Brown & Knox's contacts, we still need a board to back him up which is where any optimism disintegrates.
  20. Did anybody hear a potentially dodgy song being sung tonight on the Hearts v Celtic live debacle? (I know that's not uncommon for a game involving the old firm!) but this song sounded like "who's the p*** in the blue?" with the missing word being a racist term. (at the time, Jeffries was on the touchline in a blue trackie sporting a jimmy calderwood style tan) a mate and myself thought that's what it sounded like, but we thought the celtic fans wouldn't be that stupid to sing that so was wondering if anyone else heard it? or if anyone can clear up what they were actually singing about?
  21. crowd looks tiny. you can hear every shout from the players!
  22. nobody in chat at all? is it wrong to be wanting to find a stream for this nothing game?! not that this sit would provide me with such ilegallities...
