  1. I had no idea your username was a Queen song (mainly because I'd never heard of the song). I just assumed you lived in a Tenement. With your stick. And your wheelchair. Sorry!
  2. Certainly the lack of entertainment is definitely having an effect on crowd numbers, but there are other factors which probably are having some effect too. e.g. rising prices, available of games in pubs through arabic tv, other games in other leagues on tv, competition for other forms of entertainment etc... Crowd numbers this season are on a par with the last two, and on a whole crowd numbers throughout the game are falling. I'd love to see us average 15, 16K but it just seems so unlikely despite what the product on the pitch might be. I'm not sure when we last had an average attendance of > 14K. Probably not for the last 10 years.
  3. But "JC should not be judged on what has gone before him" and attendances were down long before he turned up.
  4. Okay if we are prepared to ignore the past then what are our targets? We are the 4th highest spending club with 5th biggest support so we should be trying for 4th in the league. Its still achievable. We should therefore also be trying for top 4 in a domestic cup competition. We've done that, and still have a slim chance of doing better in the Scottish cup.
  5. Is this about the Kenny Deuchar's in Munich again?
  6. A mighty fine post and spot on IMHO.
  7. I'd have Jamie Smith in my starting line-up every time. One of the only creative players we've got, and certainly one who stands up to be counted in the big games. Could have so done with him on Tuesday! Agree with the rest of your list, although McNamara will probably play a few games now.
  8. Absolutely. We had no cup runs at all last year. This year we have, but the criticism has been that we have only got so far because we have had weak opposition. Well I think we should petition the SFA to ensure we get much harder draws next year! A successful season for me would be a trophy of some sort. But this season is definitely a step forward from last year, it just doesn't feel like it at the moment. Season isn't over (yet)...
  9. Who was the lad? The chef?
  10. Aberdeen Res beat Hibs Res 3-1 this afternoon. The goals coming from Gary Carroll, Steve Lovell and Sone Aluko. http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/clubNewsDetail/0,,10284~1233708,00.html
  11. You didn't honestly believe that quote did you?
  12. You gonna shave off your ginger locks?
  13. What exactly are his strengths? He's missed a fair amount of sitters this season, some of which had it been Mackie, he would have been hung, drawn and quartered by large sections of our support.
  14. Won the corner for our goal, but that was about it.
  15. I think we started 4-4-2 but then attempted to play 4-5-1 counter attack after we scored, but we should have just played 4-4-2. Its the only formation an Aberdeen team know how to play.
  16. When does his suspension kick in and how long is he suspended for? Should be an opportunity (on paper anyway) to see somebody else play up front.
  17. Front page of the EE is "Night of Shame".
  18. You're not going to the cup quarter final then?
  19. I'm convinced he should be spoken to by the police, and possibly cautioned. He was a complete prick and nearly started a riot, twice! Not condoning the behaviour of some our fans, but it was caused by their keeper.
  20. Just wondering what the thoughts are on this forum. Me, I'd give him until the end of the season.
  21. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_cups/7230007.stm No doubt we'll get dragged through the gutter, whether rightly or wrong.
  22. My tuppence worth: Calderwood - tactics wrong, why not stick with 2 up front? Langfield - possibly his worst performance in a Dons top Walker - not a shadow of his performance on Saturday but still probably our best performer last night Considine/Foster - should be punted down to the reserves, they have been awful this season Aluko - I think we've seen the best of him already. His shirking out of a challenge with the keeper last night was appauling Nicholson - should be benched. He's not playing well since confirming he hasn't/won't sign a contract Diamond - need to hope him and Bus can form a partnership and it will help some of the other positions further forward Ref - totally inept performance, especially in the first half. Free kick that led to their first goal should have been a free kick to us. Although Miller's first booking appeared to be for something he said, it was never a foul in the first place DUFC fans - a disgrace for pelting Langfield who I'm sure did nothing to warrant it DUFC keeper - would like to see him cautioned by the police for near inciting a riot Our fans - as usual we cannot avoid rising to the bait, some of our fans were a disgrace and I was worried some were going on the pitch to take on the keeper Stewards/police - an absolute disgrace at both ends of the pitch All in all a complete shambles of an evening, on many fronts. However, there are bound to be some knee jerk reactions calling for Calderwood's head. IMHO he must be given to the end of the season to see if he can somehow salvage anything - either a Scottish cup final or qualifying for Europe in the league. If not the questions, should be asked in the summer, not now when we still have some very important games coming up. The players and the management and some of the fans let the club down last night!
