  1. If any of my bets come up on this game I'll buy the club and save us from Cormack's antics. I always try and be positive if we put money down on Aberdeen. Don't back us every game but did have us beating Motherwell 3-1 £3 (14/1) plus £9 Bojan Miovski Two Or More Goals (15/2) so I'm in form!!
  2. Panda, Are you not thinking of that Scottish boy Alastair Reynolds who came over with Apollon Limassol for UEFA Europa League qualifying? MacDonald is apparently the ex-boyfriend of Alexandra Burke of X-Factor fame so he's OK by me. As for Mattie Pollack I believe he is the son of ex-Manchester City midfielder Jamie Pollack so hopefully has the same crunching tackle attitude as his father did!
  3. As much as we're all gutted over last night just a wee reminder that football isn't life and death. I know he didn't play much for us but Patrizio Billio passed away today aged just 48.
  4. Slim, You ever watched the film Miracle on Ice? The true life story of USA winning the Gold Medal at Ice Hockey in Lake Placid Winter Olympics 1980 with a bunch of college and university kids? There's a scene which has always stuck with me from that movie. I so hope it wasn't put in for dramatic effect. Herb Brooks the coach as he was picking the squad to go to the tournament got everybody trying out to do an endurance test. He got all the players to skate from one end of the rink to the other and keep doing that until he got back. You know what he never came back to the following morning. He got his assistant to put together a list of those who had given up especially those who quit when they switched arena lights off. They were axed and didn't go to the Games. You know why he did that? To see who would run through a brick wall for him when things were tough in a match scenario. He didn't want individuals who gave up at the first opportunity of stuffing going against them. It proved to be a masterstroke as they would beat Soviet Union a side full of professional NHL players who hadn't been beaten at the Olympics since 1958 I believe then Finland to win Gold. Too many teams us included have the wrong attitude and mentally when going into these big matches and it shows in the performances. That comes mainly from the manager but also as an individual player or collective. We have so many weak minded people at the club from the top men to those on the playing field.
  5. Genuine question. Since I first started following the club season 1989-90 how many times have we actually shown up and produced our best in a Cup Semi-Final. It can't be that many. Another embarrassing time I'm preparing myself for from local people taking the absolute mick out of me and my so called football team. And you guys wonder why I've been wanting to walk away from football altogether. Honestly don't know why we bother getting on that bus down to Glasgow sometimes.
  6. ElginDon, I had Phil on my radio show in 2010. Still have the raw version without song selections from Phil which we can listen to any time we want although sound quality is pretty iffy. I also bought his brother Boon's Reno Yellow Les Paul Hoyer guitar in a 2001 month long internet auction and went on to have a two and a bit year email relationship with Boon before he basically disappeared from being online. Level 42 were never the same after Boon and Phil left in 1987 just as Running In Family album was about to be released. Phil has stated his main reason for leaving was because he felt like the band sold their souls to the devil after World Machine material because record company wanted more commercial success which meant they had to go down a road musically Phil wasn't happy with. Boon didn't like the stardom and constant exhaustion from touring and told me a story about how the guitar I bought off him for £250 got damaged after trying to escape female attention through a side door at a Reading venue as he dropped it on the stairs outside. Absolutely gutted me when Boon committed suicide aged 64 April 2019. Hung himself in a friend's bedroom wardrobe. Still have all my emails written by Boon between 2001-03. Boon's two solo albums 'Tinman' (1995) and 'Love Kills Overtime' (2000) as Zen Gangsters are absolutely brilliant and probably up there in my 'Top Ten Albums' of all time. Boon has always been my hero. Phil released his third solo album 'Beautiful Wounds' late 2021. Again for a classy musician in his middle sixties he has still got an ear for quality music. Boon's last bit of original instrumental guitar playing is in the "Russian Submariner" track on 'Beautiful Wounds' collection. Apparently Boon wasn't happy that Phil had secretly recorded him without his permission when they were jamming in a studio. Attached link below! As for my project with Phil. All I'll say is we put an idea to him regarding my cartoon wrestling videos hobby and he has come up with a thirty minute drum piece nothing else instrument wise where he did around ten hours at Chale Abbey Studios on Isle of Wight early December 2022 where Level 42 are originally from. I'm hoping to be able to let family and friends listen to it soon enough after Phil has had chance to go back to Chale Abbey Studios to do final mixing process. Was suppose to be done just before Christmas but food poisoning and bad weather put pay to that. He's sent me three one minute clips which aren't the finished article but I love them so don't think I'll be disappointed with end product.
  7. Level 42 were and probably still are my first musical love. A bit similar to me they were like Marmite. You either get us or don't which I've learned over the years is the way to be in life. The sixty second instrumental from 3.30 on this absolute classic is utterly immense and does stand the test of time being 36 years old. I'm hoping to announce very soon a wee thirty minute drum track we've been discussing and working on with original Level 42 drummer Phil Gould. I don't expect folk to dig it but I guess that is OK. Not everybody shall need to understand this project.
  8. Not a surprise to see Christian Ramirez being touted for Columbus Crew but do we bring in somebody to replace him if he goes next fortnight or so??
  9. I was speaking with Simon Miln about my journey with the Southern New Hampshire University Women's Soccer Program last four years. Simon is the guy who has started reading the Saturday afternoon classified football results on Twitter after BBC decided to drop the tradition a wee while ago. He put together this really cool message and shared it on his feed Christmas Day. Love how he gets what these girls mean to me.
  10. I want to keep my feelings short and sweet. I've probably fallen out of love with my team since Dave Cormack took over in 2019. We've spoken with a couple of people on the inside at club. One isn't there anymore and is glad they're away from Pittodrie now. This person does agree with me that under Jim Goodwin we're going nowhere. Understand a large chunk of our support were quite glad Derek McInnes and Tony Doc. got sacked. Yes stuff turned sour toward last year or so but for me personally think Derek and Tony's downward spiral started when Dave took over. Firmly believe their good work first six to seven years has been conveniently forgotten about because of last few months they were in job. My life from a personal point of view with the two lifelong disabilities we have is hard enough on a daily basis that the stress the club are giving me past three years is something I don't need. Watching football is suppose to be fun win, lose, draw. It stopped being that for me as soon as Dave Cormack took charge. The game is a different animal that when I first started following the club in 1989. And I don't think it is for the better either. Utterly fed up with the sport.
  11. I was so depressed with regard to Saturday afternoon and Tuesday night that for a laugh to cheer myself up we BOUGHT 200 BELGIAN CHOCOLATE COOKIES ONLINE FOR £26 from our old goalkeeper Nicky Walker at Walkers Shortbread!! Wish me well destroying this people!!
  12. Anybody remember the ex-Partick Thistle manager ever saying this; "Pittodrie is the hardest place to go to in Scottish football. It’s like a British boxer going to Italy. You have to knock them out to get a draw.”
  13. Josh Walker has his own one to one coaching business and has not long signed for Dunbar United about a 20 minute car ride from me so might have to try and go see him play sometime.
  14. Just wanted to share the below passage I got yesterday. It is from Hannah Rose the Southern New Hampshire University Women's Soccer goalkeeper who has played her 'Covid Year' and so has left is leaving the Program very soon. I'd seen what looked like her profile page on Facebook so sent a quick message to thank her for the memories of last three years. "Thank you for all your praise! I don't share this with the coaches or anyone else on the team, but when we write down on our motivations and our "why's" on our wrist tape before games, I always add a little bird to mine. That's all you sea bird! Trust me when I say this, it has been such an honor playing for SNHU, and your never-ending support has been incredibly inspiring and motivating. I want you to know that you have gotten me through the tough parts of the season this year. Know that you're not forgotten and that you mean so much to the team. I'll make sure the newer girls and incoming classes know who you are, and hopefully, you'll get the opportunity to introduce yourself over zoom sometime soon. Again, thank you so much. You're one of the reasons I play football. Much love, and I hope you and your family are well."
  15. I made a financial gesture towards the team going to Tampa for their bonding trip in Summer 2022 and got this very cool short video sent to me!! New & Old.mp4
  16. Over the last few years I've tried to take a different stance to the games I attend Live. You know almost treat them individually as oppose to say remembering all the matches won on way to winning a Cup. I don't expect anybody to understand how special me seeing our footballing heroes draw 2-2 at Pittodrie with seventh richest club in world at time Bayern Munich on evening I became a published author was. I remember my mindset coming up on the train from Scottish Borders was so negative. We thought why the hell am I coming up to watch my team get gubbed six or seven nil. I know they had Oliver Kahn missing through illness which I still to this day don't believe. Rested Belgian international Daniel Van Buyten and French fullback Willy Sagnol was suspended if memory serves us right. Dutch captain Mark Van Bommel had a slight thigh strain so wasn't risked but apart from that it was a very strong squad sent to Aberdeen. Some might say take Willy Sagnol off that list as that was his own fault he wasn't available for the match. But still had Brazilian internationalist duo Lucio and Ze Roberto plus Argentinian central defender Martin Demichelis. Turkish captain Hamit Altintop another more than decent player. Bastian Schweinsteiger no mug either. Don't care what anybody else says Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni up top together were as dangerous a partnership as was around back then as proved by Bayern's first equaliser. Then they brought on German captain Philipp Lahm and his good pal Lukas Podolski second-half. But after all is said and done do you think Bayern Munich went easy on us that night or was it our boys feeding off the wonderful atmosphere and raising their game like nobody expected them to do?
  17. Blindly bought the 2021 Mogwai album 'As The Love Continues' last week. There is some real good stuff on it but this track putting me on another planet at minute. Does remind one of my favourite ever programme from mid to late nineties Common As Muck.
  18. Check my post out in 'Football' section regarding the Southern New Hampshire University Women's Soccer Program. Despite their 2022 season being pretty poor I would say they are more important to me now than Aberdeen's fortunes ever were.
  19. There are many reasons I've been thinking of walking away from the game completely. Not just because of an awful result away to Livingston or because I haven't got enough things going on in my life. I've probably not enjoyed watching football generally speaking for last four or five years now. I'm bored by the Scottish product of sometimes playing teams four, five, six, seven times in a season if there is a cup replay or two. I don't think the modern player gives as much a damn about the supporters as is claimed either which is a big thing for me because it breeds the wrong attitude. That 4-0 Tannadice drubbing a few weeks back just can't happen in any scenario for me but the fact of the matter was it did and it keeps happening. Look at how close we were to another embarrassing cup result at Annan Athletic too. No part-time team should be taking us to extra-time. I nearly walked away from the club in 2008. I attended Bayern Munich home, Hibernian away, Kilmarnock away. We lost 3-1 at both Easter Road and Rugby Park and we all know what happened Valentine's Day. We vividly remember having a frank conversation with my now passed Mam about not attending another game that season after Kilmarnock debacle. I said to her we could never understand how they could perform like they did against Bavarian side yet embarrass themselves when facing Hibernian and Kilmarnock. I genuinely don't think anybody knows how conflicted I am about this issue. Or how disappointed we are I've had very little to show for my efforts following the club last 33 years. Like that Kilmarnock away fixture especially a Sunday used to take 12 hours altogether using buses and trains from Scottish Borders. Not sure what it is nowadays. Long way to go to by yourself at a great expense to maybe see your team not trying a jot!
  20. I'm a perfectionist always have been. It is very hard for me to accept mediocrity from anybody in any walk of life. And once more the players threw that amazing away support under the bus with yet another lacklustre opening twenty minutes. Don't know about anybody else but this regurgitated excuse about not knowing why we were slow out the traps really doesn't wash with me anymore after 33 years as a supporter. Panda, we will need to agree to disagree. Livingston play an awful brand of football and we honestly shouldn't be losing to them at any point in history. But the fact is we do on a regular basis in West Lothian especially which is beyond embarrassing for me. I really am just about done with football generally speaking. I was saying to a contact we used to have at club last night I just don't get out of the game what we once used to and maybe it is time to just move on and forget the sport because in grand scheme of things it doesn't serve me now.
  21. I've felt very disillusioned with football generally speaking for a good few years now. More so with Aberdeen Football Club since Derek and Tony Doc. left. The attitude of the modern footballer is somewhat of a bug bear for me. I mean look how poorly they started tonight and sold yet another amazing travelling support down the river. Don't actually believe players care about the supporters as much as is claimed by some. We can't be losing to Livingston under any circumstances in my opinion. Really think I'm done with the club and game in general come end of season. Just haven't enjoyed it for so long. Not fun. We've kind of noticed how I don't get angry when losing now. Almost a resignation an apathy about a defeat. Firmly feel as if my mind, body, soul is giving me a sign it is time to do something else with our life. Going through the motions as they say is never a good thing. Thank God for the World Cup so don't need to deal with this sorry state of a squad we've got for a bit.
  22. You'll need to come down to Duns one day lads and I'll take one to the pitch. Fact Aberdeen have been here 68 years ago for a Scottish Cup tie might now just have become my favourite Dons stat.
  23. I guy we know in Duns has provided me with an image of the 1954 Scottish Cup 2nd Round tie in town I've lived 30 years now and then without my knowledge taken a 2022 updated photo as seen below!!!!!!!! Still blows our mind that my heroes have been down here to play a competitive match.
  24. Has Bebo had a wasted career? I just went looking to see if he was still playing! OH MY GOD HARTLEPOOL UNITED!! Apart from three year spells with both Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland only stayed at a club for one season. This includes Derby County, Rotherham United, Oxford United, Bury and Lincoln City.
  25. Wow Tom! How that clip is SO APT! Boy who served me was the Shop Manager whose name was Steve Carmichael like!!!!
