  1. Would like to think he's not immune to praise from some quarters either.

Don't be a knob, if he turns the team into this entertaining point grabbing unit we have all been salavating after then who is going to criticise?

Why has this site got a reputation for being anti McGhee? I have not seen anything to suggest that at all.

  2. I remember being gutted at that game, I don't think i'd ever seen us beat them in the flesh at that point which would make me even more gutted than you were ;)

But a team with De Boer and Klos in it is at least 10x better than the current hun team.

And what a fucked up Aberdeen team we had out that day. Lots of dross mixed in with a little bit of quality.

    Team

    1 Preece

    17 McNaughton

    24 Morrison

    29 Heikkinen

    5 Anderson

    14 Clark

    10 Sheerin

    7 Hinds

    27 Diamond

    19 Zdrilic

    9 Booth

  3. Nigeria look like they are getting pumped out of the U20 WC already. Losing to Spain I think.

Aluko might be back sooner than we think.

They lost 2-0 to Spain but still have the tournament favourites Tahiti and fellow giants Venezuala still to play.

  4. First time for a while I've come away from Ibrox feeling so optimistic.  I thought Fyvie, Pawlett, and particularly Paton were superb.  2nd half especially Paton was running rings round Whittaker, it's a joy to watch a young lad with no fear willing to have a go and not be bullied off the ball.

I also thought Duff had a good game when he came on and Foster was immense at centre half (again!!).

Big question is: Can we take this kind of performance/form into the Killie match?

Killie is a different ball game. The Huns are missing a lot of guile without Ferguson and with Mendes being suspended but being the home team at Ibrox the onus was on them to get forward and attack us. That played in to McGhee's hands very well and it suited players like Paton and Pawlett who had a bit of space to run to with ball at feet. I assume Killie will be much more stuffy and will look to annul Paton and Pawlett and stop us playing.

  5. I still think the board smelt money, we had a manger who had taken us to Uefa last 32 (and drawn with Bayern at home), CIS Semi, decent league position, with a small and limited squad. There wasn't a managerless CCC club who wouldn't want that. The unfortunate thing is there wasn't.

Good call Baggy. Not the first or last time Milne has taken a gamble and lost.

  6. It's getting fucking boring now. I was indifferent when it came to Calderwood and agree it was probably time for change as things seemed to have regressed slightly, though we hadn't achieved the sort of consistency that Calderwood brought to the club for years. Regardless of any of that, Aberdeen should be beating clubs like Dundee and the buck has to stop with McGhee. I'm sure McGhee himself will agree with that.

  7. Fair point, he often looks mince, but each and every one of our players has crippling flaws. Thats why they play for us. At the end of the day, Mackie will run about, he will get in the oppo's faces and he will score goals. Until we find someone more prolific who's first touch is likely to stay within five yards of his instep, we might as well support him.

I agree with that min. All our players are inconsistent in this day and age.

  8. I can only assume McGhee has never met our medical staff, and seen their handiwork, if he thinks Sone would be better off being assessed by them.

Sone has probably thought "I've seen what a mess these clowns made of Jamie Smith, there's no way I want to be playing out the rest of my career for a backwater MLS team. I'll go off to the Nigeria training camp and hopefully there will be a witchdoctor who can use some juju on me that's bound to be more effective than anything the Aberdeen medical staff can do"

That's totally unsubstatiated min. Had Smith's career been hampered by the Aberdeen medical staff don't you think they would have a case to answer? I would tend to believe that car crash in Egypt has more to do with Jamie Smith's injury woes.
