  1. Although there is obviously no denying the difference in skill from that squad to this I don't think the gulf is as big as people suggest. The real difference is in attitude. That Aberdeen side had a good number of superb players but it also had some journeymen like Dougie Bell. They were world beaters because their collective and singular attitudes were exemplary. The key thing that Ferguson did for Aberdeen was to not only make them all believe they could do anything but that they had the right to expect it. He would never tolerate anyone getting outside of their ego but was a genuis at maximising the individuals contribution to a team effort. Huge difference from what we see nowadays.

Completely and utterly agree. Did you see the way they ran back in to the dressing room at half time with the adrenelin pumping away mental style. The way the chased the ball down from kick off. If the current lot played with even half of that amount of passion you would certainly see more people turn up to watch them. I don't think it is boring football that is keeping folk fae turning up just now, or certainly not the biggest factor - I think it is missing passion on the field.

  2. Q's

    1. Where do you travel from?

    2. How do you get there/back?

    3. What do you usually do before/after the game?

    4. Preferred location?

    A's

    1. Londinium

    2. Mini bus / train / aeroplane

    3. Drink as fast as I can

    4. Somewhere warm

  3. I agree. I think Motherwell will be particularly tricky and I believe they are a better off up front than us at the moment. Clarkson looks on fire from the weekends highlights and Porter and McCormack are having great seasons also. Killie should be less of a threat hopefully. I would take 4 points as well.

  4. It was encouraging for sure but I am slightly worried about how long it took to kill Hibs off. So many chances were spurned and a better team than Hibs (on todays showing) could have got back in to it. I think Maguire showed great movement but I am not sure he is the answer up front, Lovell looked more likely to score when he came on. I am still a tad cagey after today's good performance but have hope that we can go on a decent run.

  5. That's too very competent games in a row for Byrne. I've always said I have seen something in him that I like whilst I do admit he's had many a shocker along the way. Hopefully he can put a run of games together now though.

On another note, Hibs were rank today. They didn't shut us down at all, which was odd. Regardless, we played well as a team.

Jimmy says McNamara is free to go should he get a management job offer. I think that's probably about right as it hasn't really happened for him at Aberdeen for one reason or another and it would free up his not unsubstantial salary for someone else who could hopefully make an impact.
