For all Shinnies flaws, his will to win is good for the side, something I dont think we have much of.Also think its good to have a senior local loon in the side,....like Robson and Anderson added to the feel good of the '14 side. Cant see any obvious candidates out there that suit what we need in his place either
-
I would see if our current line up gets into a bit of rythym, maybe switch on Wilson along the way,.....otherwise aye, drop Wilson for either Anderson or Mclennan
-
Playing with a lot more porpoise and basking in the praise.Maybe the captains armband will be enough to net his signature?...

Sunday evening's sombre enough as it is. Tower of Power

Absorbing game rather than eye catching, but a good deserved win.Thought Hibs were mostly poor,as much because of good aggresive defending snuffing out attacks early, plus Kamberi's woeful finishing Like Andy C,but Lowe looks so much more natural in there.GMS,McGinn both good,May worked hard, pity he didnt just lob the ball goalwards first time for that chance.Wilson had a couple of nice touches, but didnt really get a sniff. A strong starting line up,hoping we start getting a bit of a rythym going now.Decent crowd, good atmosphere.COYR

As long as he's impartially shite and comes out for the second half...

Happy to be proved wrong crowdwise, but doesnt look like a night for hoofball

My opinion,we do have an element that over fantasise about Rangers.Would prefer it if we'd distanced ourselves/ let them be seen for what they are.Unfortunatley we allowed ourselves to stoop to their level,to get a 'rise' or whatever from them with the cringeworthy Simmie song,Ibrox disaster among others. But,I think and hope thats a shite phase the N/E was going through(ie the tail end of the oil boom sleaze ).The Hun and Tim have been scummy forever

Aye,was slightly tongue in cheek about Stuartie. I was trying to buy tickets for the Mainer the other week, and it was showing sold out.Came to the day of the game, and some of the sections were more than half empty. Must have ST holders putting something into the club but dont go very often Re the game, looking forward to it but hope Deeks identified how poor weve been from midfiled to attack, let alone sore on the eyes, and we attack with a bit more swagger and intent than of late. Wee Stuartie probably will

The river Ayr is the only salmon river Im aware of down that way,but I wouldnt know where any waterfalls or weirs are to watch them.On the Spey we just followed a riverside path and watched them jumping randomly on all stretches of the river,in mid November

Ben Nevis(Alternative route) We were meant to be doing a W/E of Munro bagging down in Glen Etive the other week, but had to quickly make other arrangements after hitting snow on the roads on the Dava Moor and further on,which slowed us down on what was already a tight schedule Decided to do a couple of the Mamores(Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean) on the Saturday, and would have a think about what to do on the Sunday over a bar meal at night. After much scratching of heads,ie "Nah,would take to long",or "nah, best doing those with another 2 in summer" etc.Eventually an obvious question that hadnt been asked was, "Emm,you ever done Ben Nevis?" "Nuh!....You?" "Nuh!" So,we hatched a route that would include another Munro,Carn Mor Dearg, which would also avoid all the tourists on the dour slog up the other side. Going this way also gives fantastic close ups of Ben Nevis' north face,a steep rugged rocky ridge.Only down side to this route is having to traverse the Carn Mor Dearg arete,a narrow rocky ridge between CMD and Ben Nevis.Head for heights needed. Parked at the North Face car park at Torlundy just outside Fort William on the Inverness road.Once parked up,its just a case of following the initial signs saying 'North Face trail' which goes through the forestry, and follows the Allt A Mhuillin river up the glen Not visible in the photo, but the path cuts off at an angle across the hillside to the summit at the left far end(Carn Mor Dearg),drops down to the arete, mid photo, which links you round to Ben Nevis on the right Below is the worst section of the arete. We probably wouldnt have done it in the snow if we hadnt been able to follow someones footsteps. Gets easier the further round you get.Path zig zags up,steep but not difficult, and behind the rocky sections to the large flat summit From the summit, you take the tourist route down as far as the loch that appears, along the edge of the loch, and downhill to meet the original North Face path out of the forestry. Recommend it.Superb alternative.Ben Nevis summit is also one of the best viewpoints around. We were nipping on sweatily to get back in time to watch the fitba(9hrs),but the book time says to allow 10/11 hrs which may also be a bit tight depending on hill fitness.Long summer day better.

Some valid points above, and I also think our intent is part of the problem.Wish we'd go into games on the front foot because I dont think our players enjoy, nor are very good at the 'containment'/ soaking up pressure style. The worry is,McInnes may be thinking were getting results therefore this justifies my tactics, rather than, can I get more out of what Ive got? Looks like it might be a case of scrape and scratch our way to January, and hope we can majicly find the missing player or 2 that will allow us to play more cohesively, and a tad more optimisticly.

Working in Stoney this last week and also recommend the Shamrock and thistle coffee. Wee shout out to a new cafe on the harbour, the Old Pier(I think).Good coffee,Nice spot with the balcony upstairs over looking the harbour EDIT - lunch in the sitting room today, tasty Cullen skink and sandwiches.Good coffee

Our recent record down there is actually pretty good.On paper we should be hurting teams with the players we have.A good time to start getting into gear. 3 - 1 Dons Wilson,McGinn,Mclennan(late sub). COYR

Yes,echo what Tyrant says about Bohemian Rhapsody. We go to the Vue for films because its usually half empty, but Ive never seen it so busy(with fellow silvering haired rockers mostly) Malek might not be the most visually similar to Freddie, but he plays the part very well. The other guys were very good too.Great film. Wasnt a huge Queen fan at the time, but I dont think many bands will repeat their level of song quality,or showmanship.
-
He looks an enigmatic sort.Heard comments he's 'looked amazing' in training, but cant seem to carry it over on matchday.Whether he doesnt suit our style of play,or cant handle the oppositions,or he's just a bit of a pansy, looks like he isnt going to cut it unless he finds his Mojo soon

Aberdeen v Hamilton - Halloween fright night
Elgindon replied to RicoS321's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Good win,Agree about the youngsters, weve been shouting about their introductions long enough re the crowd - be disappointing if it was under 10'000 attendees, but weve hardly been playing swashbuckling football to get to the LC final and elsewhere. The more settled recent line ups might build confidence and hopefully loosen the shackles for a bit more open fitba. -
I always thought the alcohol ban was brought in because of the '80 SC final? footnote - first underage pint in a bar was 1980 - 50p/pint Tartan Special(gads)

Wondered who it was calling me Hendo in here a couple of times.Got you now Wont say who you were on Abmad, but all the former Abmadders on here will remember you(if they work out who you are) I also like the look of that line up,but it winna matter if were as limp as we were against Hearts first half.Right attitude and we could surprise ourselves.Sort of looking forward to it now. Have you tried Lou Lous yet? With a name like that I assumed it was part of the adjacent Chinese. Its location hardly gets the taste buds going,ie next to the meat factory and lorry yards, but its surprisingly busy with young mums/ kids/ grans rather than workmen. Cafe itselfs a bit meh IMO, but does the job.Thon Kuchini was a bit if a faff,.... havnt tried the replacement yet.Think some folks are missing a trick by not having one ,eg right on the coast,or a location like Findon/Muchalls
