Our team is completely shite and out the lot of the bottom 6, they would fancy a relegation battle the least.

That said, I think we’ll be alright, mainly because of the head start we’ve got

We'll finish top of the bottom six.

I am not sure why it is the "right thing" to be waiting for this dude.  As things stand, form suggests the club is sleep walking towards a relegation play off.  We don't owe this guy any kind of loyalty or sentiment.  Just get someone else FFS.

We're not.

We're shit, but we ain't finishing second bottom.

I meant the right thing morally.

If we have mutually agreed that he is the right person for the role and he's keen to take it and we have been progressing on that basis, then an "unforeseen" medical issue has arisen, I am comfortable that giving him the time and space to deal with whatever it is, is the right thing to do, even if it impacts on short term results and performances.

Yes, absolutely I know you meant morally but I totally disagree.  Sounds heartless but his medical issues ain't really our problem.  Horneland is not a long serving Dons employee who we should feel like we have some kind of obligation to.  We should just be moving on to the next person down the list.  It's not exactly Carlo Ancelotti we are talking about here.

If the club feel he is the right person for the role (let’s trust for a second they know what they’re doing) then I’d say it makes sense to wait as long as there is belief that it will eventually happen. I’m not keen on a knee jerk change of direction to make the back end of this season feel less shit. Suspect (fucking hope) there are two many teams between us and 11th and points gap is enough that we are safe. I also think cup games will take care of themselves, players look like they have a different attitude there and are up for defending it. I’ve got a good feeling about that one, managerless or not.

It's easy to weedle out the xenophobes on this thread.

It's abundantly clear that for some small-minded types only a Scottish manager will be welcome.

Probably a bit harsh to suggest it’s coming from a place of xenophobia. I suspect it’s more the collective ‘once bitten’ feeling we all have after Thelin flattered to deceive. The tendancy after a foreign manager failure is to revert back to what feels familiar.

For some maybe but I've also witnessed naked and unabashed xenophobia exhibited by far too many Dons fans on the internet messageboards

Amongst the worst offenders it should be said are those of a Scottish nationalist bent.

Speaking of managers. What are we thinking about the behaviour of Alex Ferguson in recent years? It's quite clear he holds no special place in his heart for Aberdeen. I'd even say he forgot about us as soon as he arrived in Manchester.

The fact he's rarely away from Ibrox and now he even appears to be helping Hearts out tomorrow adequately demonstrates the absolute folly of worshipping and in particular erecting statues of players and managers.

WE are the club. Not them. They're just employees passing through.

Where has this rumour of Horneland having a medical problem come from? Is it some crazy internet conspiracy theory ?

No real life conversations have been had. Seems to be legitimate. A waiting for test results situation.

If you cross correlate football fans of any club and the internet unfortunately you’ll find that. For some clubs, a prevalence of it. Fortunately, this forum appears to have avoided such types, probably due to the low volumes.

It's true but there are some on here too.

AFC chat which was the other forum I monitored for a time before finally making my choice is absolutely awash with them.

AFC chat has the volume problem. Attracts zoomers and attention seekers. I haven’t seen evidence of what you are calling out on here. I choose to read and post because it doesn’t. Sure it’s slow at times but views are generally measured and respectful. A dynamic you are definitely challenging 🤣

Surprised there’s not been more said about Ian Burchnall, anyone been able to connect the dots between him and horneland? Bizarre appointment if there’s no connection. Also curious on people’s thoughts on doc, here past this season?

Apparently they haven't worked together but that's not to say he hasn't been highly recommended to Horneland by a friend who had worked with him while he was in Norway.

Docherty? I'd absolutely like to see him kept on in the coaching team. Leven no chance. Get rid.
