With the 3 players going, and others not having received any contract offers(assume Jimmy wants rid) then we need to be looking for replacements. It's the perfect time to snap up some players on pre-contracts to replace those outgoing.

 

Ian Black and Paddy Cregg are both out of contract in the summer apparently. I'm amazed there hasn't been speculation involving them already. Worthy replacements for Clark and Nicholson.

 

Whats the odds Calderwood actually having an idea who he wants to bring in as replacements? Hart said he'd rejected the final offer before the Copenhagen game so surely Calderwood has to have identified a replacement by now.

 

I'm not overly worried about the 3 players leaving, it's more that I don't trust Calderwood to bring in worthy replacements. Is Dave Bus the best he can come up with?

Stuart Duff is an anti-footballer. Think Darren Young without any passing ability. Definitely a Calderwood type of player.

A couple of people i spoke to yesterday suggested steven robb as a replacement for clark, always seemed like a decent winger and his contract runs out in the summer.

 

What does everyone think?

He's a poor man's Lee Mair, and that's saying something.

 

If we don't sign him i'll be amazed.

 

Sorry to say but as stated elsewhere there is a real sense of inevitability about this

I'm going to break from my gut feeling here and say that if, as was the case with Young, we add Duff as a squad player for very little financial outlay and he puts his heart into the club then I'm willing to give him the chance to prove himself. I know he is widely regarded as being horse but I haven't seen much of him first hand and I do remember him being rated before he went to UTD. I also remember UTD having an unswaying ability to sour players with the atmosphere that surrounded the club when McCall and Brewster were there. Is it possible the boys confidence is shot from his years there ? I may be clutching at straws but I'm trying very hard to keep an open mind.
