Brown's transfer targets

New Aberdeen manager Brown eyes move for McNamee

New Aberdeen manager Craig Brown will try to make former Livingston full-back David McNamee his first Dons signing.

The 30-year-old had been training with Brown's former club Motherwell with a view to a move there.

The Dons' only senior full-back, Ricky Foster, is on loan at Rangers and the club has been struggling to fill the right- and left-back positions.

The arrival of McNamee would lessen their dependence on 17-year-old Clark Robertson and their midfielders.

McNamee started his career at St Mirren in 1997 and signed for Blackburn rovers two years later. However, he failed to break into the first team and joined Livingston in 2002.

During that time he was capped for Scotland by Berti Vogts and featured twice as a substitute against Bulgaria and Japan in Scotland's Kirin Cup win in 2006.

He has since had spells at Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle where he was released last summer.

Well looks like we won't be signing Tony Capaldi as he has verbally agreed to sign for Morecombe. No new LB then :-(

I'm not surprised by this, shame nonetheless though. :(

A wise move?

Hope it brings him sunshine!

Bet it's a good erner tho!

Verbal contract isn't worth the paper it isn't written on.

I'm certain in contract law it does have value if there is consideration I.e. Payment, but the problem is, its quite difficult to prove the terms of the contract.

Mr Brown and Mr Knox turned us down at first. Thank goodness they were eventually persuaded.

Signed with Morecombe until end of season.

Regarding Capaldi, bottom line in my opinion is that IF we had reallky wanted an offer would have long since been made. therefore can only assume that Messrs Brown & Knox decided he wasn't the answer.

Time to move on therefore.

Sure there are other irons in the fire

Myles Anderson.

Even though he has been told he wont play unless there is a really REALLY bad injury problem.

Does not having a left back at all constitute a really really bad injury problem?

Probably, this is what he was told after he signed though.

See Micheal Stewart has left the turkish club hes went too. Worth a cheeky try? The guy is a cunt to put it simple but saying that before this season Paul Hartley was one too

Nah, he's an a-grade tit.

Seems Broon as told Steven Irwin that, although he's of decent quality, he's too much like what we've already got. So, what's Broon looking for? Possibly an attacking-midfielder who could be passed off as a striker? A player like Jess or Jamie Smith (when fit) is probably what we're in need of.

Hartley is providing excellent supply for our strikers, but we still need someone who has the ability to unlock defences and turn games like Jess and Smith were able to.

I thought we were short of a defensive midfielder today.

That said, Aluko is as unreliable as fuck just now so perhaps we do need an attacking option so we don't rely quite so much on young Pawlett and Aluko.

so either an attacking midfielder in the mould of Jess/Smith or a defensive midfielder in the mould of Seve/Heikkinen/Deloumeaux

I don't think my heart could take watching someone as relaxed looking on the pitch as Deloumeaux anymore.

Aye, relaxed alright. But for the whole 1st leg and about 70 minutes of the second leg against Hertha Berlin (ie until he got sent off) he had Marcelinho in his back pocket

Think with the Steve Irwin thing Brown said he was no better than Ryan Jack so felt it was best to give Jack a game, he wants someone with more experience which may be Michael Stewart or Stephen Hughes.... I know he is a twat but I'd take Stewart, a year and a half deal would be good, if he can bring the performances then dont mind him being a tit

Stewart is being offered around, not sure we really need him if Pawlett is going to be fit but I guess that's pat of the problem.

Bad news, people. Apparently we're after Colin Nish if the BBC Gossip page is to be believed.
