Can't remember if there was a specific film thread so here goes.

 

Anyone been/going to the cinema to see anything in particular?

 

I've been to see Inception and Toy Story 3 recently. Both were fantastic. Saw Toy Story in 3D but I'm not overly sure that it was necessary, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it was a great film. Fitting way to end the trilogy

Have to say, I fucking loved that film. We hired out the screen so was like watching with a bunch of mates. Think the blokes possibly laughed harder than the women, although most of the women had seen it at least once. Very well cast and great references to other films.

I've heard nothing but good things about it i have to say,  looking forward to seeing it.  

 

Saw Indy last week, really enjoyed it and it felt a very solid ending to the series.

Still haven't seen it. Not sure if it's on any of the streaming providers yet? 

We watched War Dogs again on the weekend (didn't have the energy to look for something). Seemed quite poignant given what's going on in the middle east right now. It's not exactly a thought provoking film, but I'd no idea it was actually based on a real story.

Read in the Guardian today that there is a new film out about our former striker Lee Miller, though was very surprised to see that Kate Winslet is playing the lead role😆.

Folk not been watching films? 😂 watched Gladiator 2 tonight, enjoyed it. Nice and gory and I always enjoy a film with Denzel in it. Wouldn’t say it’s a thought provoking storyline but a good film nonetheless.

I thought the plot was pretty poor in G2.

Recently watched the substance. Wow, it was tarantino/70's horror/ naked demi ( a lot of ) / the creature from the black lagoon / zombie B movie

Bizarre but one to see for sure. 

Otherwise I've watched Kneecap. It's really funny and don't worry about the politics it takes piss out of both sides. A bit like a modern commitments crossed with trainspotting humour. It's on Amazon.

Finally got to see 'Leviathan' a mere 34 years after being facinated by the videobox in the days when there seemed to be a healty dose of 18 rated horror/ sci-fi films coming onto the market. Cover art and slogan have little to do with the actual film
 

Hoping to get hold of 'Deepstar Six ' (never seen) and 'The Abyss' (last watched circa 1991/92) to complete the 'trilogy' of underwater sci-fi/ horror films release in 1989

Quite enjoyed Sunstance. 

After watching and thoroughly enjoying Last Voyage Of The Demeter, which is from one of the chapters of Dracula, me and the missus went to the cinema for first time in donkeys to see the remake of Nosferatu. I absolutely love the OG version, but this remake was gash! Lily-Rose Depp has all the on-screen emotions of a sack of tatties. 

Tonight, we are gonna watch the remake of All Quiet On The Western Front

Watched "I Swear" last night. A true story of tourettes sufferer John Davidson from Galashiels.

Starting with him going to secondary school and the start of his tics, through to him receiving his MBE for his work in raising awareness of tourettes.

A wonderful story where you will laugh and cry in equal measures (sometimes at the same time) and with a smattering of pretty decent music.

Last word on the film, everyone needs a Dottie in their life 

I saw I Swear at the talkies. Amazing film.

I saw that film when it came out and yes it was an amazing film.

Very sad in places and very funny in others. The bit when he is getting his MBE and shouted out Fuck the Queen, was brilliant. I also hope that part was true. 

Other than that I don't watch too many films, never been much of a film buff. 

Also, I must add that I think that Maxine Peake is a fine actress, but she can't do a Scottish accent to save her life.

Watched The Holdovers again tonight, saw it in cinema when it came out. Beautiful piece of film making. Definitely well assisted with a good Malbec, Frazzles and a cheeky Star Bar.

Never heard of the film, but respect the choice of a Star Bar.

A lovely piece of confectionery and been banging the drum of old skool chocolate bars for the past few years.

I'm still reeling about the demise of Red Bounties and Topics, so doing my best to keep demand of old skool bars alive.
