Former Dundee United midfielder Billy McKinlay and Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon are on the shortlist for the managerial vacancy at Tannadice.

United chairman Stephen Thompson interviewed the pair in London on Monday as he steps up the club's search to find Craig Levein's successor.

McKinlay is currently on the coaching staff at Fulham, while Fenlon has managed Bohemians since December 2007.

The shortlist is also thought to include Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn.

Bohemians have won the Eircom League title in each of the past three seasons and Fenlon has been linked with a move to the Scottish Premier League.

Peter Houston, United's caretaker manager, has ruled himself out of the running for the job because he feels he is too familiar with the players.

Houston was placed in temporary charge after Levein last month agreed to succeed George Burley as Scotland manager.

What an unbelievable amount of shite this guy speaks!

Its a shame because after his recent run of results surely the job is his for the taking  :o

On a more positive note for them  :P they are lining up some pretty heavy hitters. The old ex-player can do no wrong despite only being on the staff at Fulham or an Eircom League manager which worked so well for Dunfermline. The UTD re-birth looks set to continue with pace

Irish lad in the work says Fenlon is very highly thought of in Ireland and is being tipped as a future Ireland boss. As he is boss of U23s might well know of some decent young Irish players that Arabs could pick up for next to nothing as well.

I don't believe anything until Tyrone says it first. In a minute, you may be corroborated by the oracle.
