The detailed masterplan for Donald Trump's £1bn golf resort has been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council.

The US tycoon's plans for Menie, north of Aberdeen, have divided opinion for several years.

Mr Trump said of the submission: "This is another significant step towards our goal of building the world's greatest golf course and resort."

The drawings and plans will be shown at a public exhibition at the Udny Arms Hotel in Newburgh on 12 and 13 March.

The masterplan includes detailed environmental, landscaping, construction and infrastructure plans.

Mr Trump's plan is to create the "world's greatest" resort at Menie

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a masterplan for the Menie development, along with a related application for the championship golf course element of the scheme.

"These documents are required as part of conditions outlined in the original planning consent, and will now be assessed by planners in consultation with various statutory bodies and others.

"Members of the public will also have the chance to view and comment on the plans."

He went on: "The Trump Organisation has also lodged a 'proposal of application notice', a document that is required at least 12 weeks in advance of a developer lodging a major planning application.

"It is our understanding that the Trump Organisation intends to resubmit its application for the championship golf course aspect of the development.

"The notice, and any application for planning permission that follows, will be considered in line with the usual planning policies and procedures."

Aberdeenshire councillors earlier agreed to enter into negotiations with the Trump Organisation over the sale of land wanted for its golf resort.

Members of the Formartine area committee agreed to make the company a "special purchaser" due to the economic benefits the resort could bring.

Guest rocket debris

The one thing that consistently makes me vomit about this is the "world's greatest" line he keeps on trotting out. Like Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, Castle Stuart, St Andrews, Pebble Beach, San Francisco, Pinehurst, Lytham, County Down, Portrush, Waterville, Druids Glen, Wentworth, Hazlehead #1 and all the rest, both established and new are going to be exceeded because the donald says so?

For a start, any business plan that sites it in a climate where golf is possible for 5 months of the year max for the tourist revenue isn't clever. This is all about building and selling houses. Always has been. So dinna gies yer pisch as if your priority is the other. It's unsustainable on the scale you're talking, purely on golf alone.

Presumably held it in Newburgh to gain the support of local business people. Although I would have thought the Cock & Bull would not only be closer but more apt.

If they boy has gone to the exhibition purely to kick off, then so he should be flung out on his arse.

Im waiting to see the legal ramifications if Trump etc try to obtain 'Compulsory purchase orders'. pretty sure they aint available except for the likes of Airport expansion, new railways, roads etc.

Considering Arsenal had to buy every single house and business premises AND purchase new houses/ industrial units for those they moved (bet they even had to pay for pickfords too) so they could build the Emirates Id like to see how far trumps effort goes. And since this is an area of natural beauty as opposed to a pretty shite urban sprawl id like to think this turns out like the film 'the castle'

I flew over this in a Helicopter on Wednesday.  For something that is supposed to be opening next year, there doesn't seem to be much going on.  There's some work being done on the dunes but no sign of any work having commenced on the buildings.  ???

The first images of the planned clubhouse for Donald Trump's golf course in Aberdeenshire have been released.

Mr Trump's golf development on the Menie estate on the coast is nearing completion.

Work on the controversial £750m project, to also feature a hotel and homes, began a year ago.

The images show a single-story building made of granite, slate and glass, described as "second to none".

The clubhouse - designed by Acanthus Architects - forms part of the next phase of the development.

Sarah Malone, executive vice president of Trump International Scotland, said: "We've spent many months refining and perfecting the permanent clubhouse design and will submit our planning application to Aberdeenshire Council in the coming weeks.

"With luxurious Scottish interiors and a full range of services and facilities for golfers and visitors, this clubhouse will be second to none."
