Players from the past . . . .

If you could pick any player from the past to play for Aberdeen who would it be

I would pick Martin Buchan a very talented player who did well for Man Utd as well.  When i watched him play he had the skills to make it today at the highest level

Would have to be either Tom Jones or Gary Hackett for me. Although on second thoughts, Stevie Gray was a touch of class.

Defender - Miller

Mid - Bett

Striker - King Joe

I know he never played for us but he's a dons fan so denis law would get a shout.

Stevie Gray was a cracking player. Not really sure where you're going with that one Ajja. Jones and Hackett were shite, Gray was a very good player who fucked it up for himself. (and I'm presuming your sarcasm)

Zoltan Varga.  He was way before my time but everything I've read about him seems to suggest he was one of the most gifted players to grace Pittodrie.  Could do with a talent like him in our midfield and I'm sure a player of his class would get more arses on seats.

Eion Jess for me, probably the best player i have seen play for the dons.

That's who I was going to say. Or Theo Snelders.

Pre clydebank leg break jess.  Maybe a bit controversial but arild stavrum.  Billy dodds.  Russell anderson.  Duncan shearer.

What did I really mean ?

Jones and Hackett - enormous amount of sarcasm.

Gray - touch of tongue in cheek with a sense of regret that he didn't do more than he could have.

Essentially, what you said back at ya

Yeah, I know, reading it sober makes more sense!  ;)

I reckon Stevie Gray could teach JC a few tricks about how to get a proper tan.

Stavrum would defo be in my top XI since i started watching the dons.

Him and Dodds up front would have been decent

Not how to grow a 'tache though! He was the epitome of the "hip" 80's man... mullet, tan, bum-fluff mowser... you just know he was a big fan of Miami Vice

Yep dodds's workrate alongside stavs prowess.  that would be a 50 a season partnership if they both stayed fit

Billy Dodds was shite.

That is all

You are correct. Stavrum wasn't too hot either.

Let me guess you'd rather have darren mackie and miller

Aye dodds was shite.       Oh Please! He was the last striker to wear aberdeen colours that scored more than 20 goals a season.  And he did that every season he played for us.  We clearly have a different understanding of the word shite

Can't believe I'm away to get into a debate with someone who rated the 'Ebbe years'.  :-\

Anyway...

Miller's a very good striker, who still has a lot more to offer us.  Hopefully he can kick on from where he left off last year, and can also get a regular partner to play alongside.

Mackie is shite.

20 goals every season?

Dodds was an excellent penalty box striker one of which we havent had since he left.

for the record i think miller is brilliant - but in the class of the afore mentioned? not even close!

It was you who brought Miller into this topic.  :hammer:

You guessed wrongly. Try again.

20 goals every season?

Actually going to have to backtrack a little.  Not every season but he did get 20 in season 96/97

So, Dodds was shite.

I thought this was ANY player from the past?

I want players from the future. That would be far more interesting.
