Thought Nisbet's first should have counted, looked like the defender played him on, but Douglas Ross is the assistant so that's all the explanation needed.

Decent enough first half though. Brora aren't up to much, but we're doing everything we should be. Be very surprised if we don't win it by a few goals.

Much as I dislike Ross, it did look like the keeper was ahead of Nisbet, so only one player between him and the ball. My stream cut out for the foul for the pen, but well taken by Nisbet.

Stream checked out five minutes from the end. A good win on a ropey surface. Liked the look of Lyons, the back two and Ronan. Be good to see the wingers on a good surface, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Been focusing on this game - heard Spain have been superb in that other thing that's happening the noo.

Was wondering - how many Dons have been taller than this Happe lad? He certainly stands out.

Good enough result for such an early season game.

Never looked in trouble. Brora got their tails up a bit at 1-0 when they started to believe they could get something, but the second goal came at the right time.

Only negative would be Nisbet looks a wee bit too rusty despite his two goals, but it's a minor point to be expected at this stage. Lyons also missed a few. At least we're creating them.

Changing subject somewhat, but it is in this competition - another defeat to lower league opposition for Jim Goodwin and Dundee United.

Since D****l, Goodwin has gone on to lose in the cups to the Spartans, Queen of the South, and now Montrose.

I see the stats on the official site say that neither side made a pass in the whole game.

Sounds a bit like the Linfield game, we created and missed a bunch of chances. What’s good though is we really struggled to create chances last year. Lower level opponents obviously but a positive step.

We have to remember, it’s mid July. Hard to be sharp at this time of year. We’ll only get better with these games and competitive prep for the league season. Nice to see our captain lead by example with a couple of goals. I’m not a huge nisbet fan but happy for him to be captain, last season he seemed to give a shit and appears to be enjoying playing for us.

Any more feedback on the new boys, smith in particular? Sounds like lyons has had a decent start to his dons career, yogane, and Ronan too. Hard to judge happe and mayo given limited opponents, but I haven’t hard negatives of them….yet?!

Not long in from the game. Thought we were decent in the first half but average in the second. Was very glad when the second went in as it took the wind right out of Brora's sails. Take the three points and move on with more minutes in the legs was the order of the day and it was delivered. No stand out performances but lyons is a tidier footballer than I expected.

Team looked like they were still in preseason to be honest. Other than about 10 mins in the second half Brora didn’t trouble the penalty area at all. That lack of danger in this and Linfield game meant Aremu was comfortable holding the midfield alone giving Lyons and Ronan license to press higher. Lyons in particular got into dangerous areas consistently and could have had 3 or 4 in the first half. Similar to Linfield, the defence weren’t troubled but strolled it. Didn’t get much from Smith but the pitch was dreadful, grass was long and surface was bumpy so no ability to move the ball quickly. Yogane is a funny player, looks cumbersome and lethargic when he picks up the ball then accelerates like a tractor but once he gets going he glides past players. He saw much more of it than Smith and looked a real threat. At one point we had Nisbet, Olusanya and Mouloa on against a tired out Brora and we didn’t create much which was a worry. Game was probably done by then though. Routine win and on to slightly more challenging game Saturday.

It wisna a great game, the condition o' the pitch had a part in that, but there were some mildly encouragin' signs.

For starters, less playin' oot fae the back. Generally, oor play was mair direct than usual.

Some decent balls intae the opposition box by a handful o' oor players ... a couple o' bonny incisive passes through their defence which on anither day would hae borne fruit, and some decent crosses by Yogane and Smith. Smith in particular put in a couple o' crackin corners. Yogane, when he gets beyond his defender has a damn good left foot for delivering crosses ... never swipes or panics ... very controlled. Would have liked tae hae seen him cut doon the wing tae the bye-line mair often earlier in the game, but very effective overall.

Centre backs looked solid ... Happe's height looks like an asset at set pieces. Wing backs? .. well Lobban was a bit quiet, but Guiness-Walker was pretty handy at times..... improve his understandin'/link up wi' Yogane, and a lot mair will happen!

Nisbet did what was asked o' him ... canna say fairer than that.

Aremu lived up tae his initial hype in that he can put in a robust physical challenge without concedin' fouls. and did his share o' moppin' up stray balls.

Brad Lyons impressed, particularly wi' his uncanny knack o' findin' himsel in good positions tae have a shot at goal - unlucky today, but he'll def score goals for us. Ronan looked pretty useful also - some good link up play.

Mitov? ... he could hae turned up wi his sleepin bag and his favourite teddy .... which says somethin' aboot the effectiveness o' oor defence.

So, nithin earth-shatterin' .... considerin' the level o' opposition, but a good base line tae work on.
