As he says, two phases, firstly stability this year and ‘survive,’ then summer and beyond. He’s certainly motivated to do well and knows exactly what he’s in for. I also like that he’s got obvious passion/fire, always felt Thelin was too nice and passive. I feel a coach needs that side to him, obviously has to be used smartly too. I do wonder if Emir Bajrami was the one who lit the fire under players arses in the Thelin regime. Robinson has spoken really well so far but he's been good with a mic under his nose every time I've ever heard him. It is nice to have a manager I actually want to listen to again though. Leven clearly hates doing press, Thelin was ok to a point but still pretty bland, Goodwin was solid enough, Glass a bit meh. McInness was excellent though and I would put Robinson in that category. All that said you can't fake enthusiasm and he's clearly delighted to be here which I must admit does lift the spirits a bit. Overall I'm defo feeling a bit better than I did yesterday morning when the news dropped though still remain sceptical this is going to be the right choice long term. 2 Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago If it was horneland or another foreigner, Aberdeen is just another random job. And questions would be asked, comments made etc. Robinson knows the club, the size of the club, and truly feels this is a step up, a one he deserves. He rightly says we are a big club with history, and means it. I think we’ve got a very motivated guy, eager to have us punch above our weight too. 2 Quote
tlg1903 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago Just finished watching the press conference. He was asked about Leven right at the end and said that would be looked at and addressed in the next 12 hours. My feeling is probably gone going by his body language. Also mentioned he knew Lutz well which, disappointingly no-one asked him to elaborate on. Quote

Or is it just more made up shit to create drama? After dunfermline, for all we know Dave and Lutz met and both agreed, fuck this, we need someone now, an agreed Robinson could be got now. If Robinson knows lutz, bonus. Such a horrible two month, too much drama, some created by the fans and our uneasiness. Glad it’s over. Quote

That being said the trackies were tight in my day too. Even had little foot stirrups. Like the way he's looking like the cat that's got the cream though. He knows he's won the lottery getting this gig let's hope he doesn't smash his golden egg. Aye, much better if he'd come out with a fizzog like a bulldog chewin' a wasp Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago Do we know any more about staff? Robinson, is Kerr asst or first team coach? Anyone else coming with him? leven, doc, the new first team coach?? Quote

I found the interview quite inspiring as he sounds like he’ll accept nae shite, and seems to have a good insight to the game as she is played on this fucking rainy, windy rock. I’m unlikely now to see many/any games before the end of the season, unfortunately, but I’ll be keeping tabs on him. 1 Quote
Panda Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago 1 hour ago, OrlandoDon said: Is there any substance to the chatter about lutz leaving, fired etc? Lutz was quoted in the club's statement so he's not left, and Robinson's title is head coach rather than manager, which again suggests there'll be a sporting director above him. Leven/Doc away I believe. Just watched the RedTV piece on his first day. Appears Robinson got all the staff together - the non football side - to introduce himself and give a speech. Comes across a quite impressive and very likeable. Fuck it, I've never loved an Aberdeen manager as much as Robbo. We're gonna win everything, then win it all again. Quote
STFU_Donny Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Fuck it. Welcome aboard the good ship AFC, Stephen. I have my reservations about this appointment but I’ll be there on Saturday to back the team and new manager. He’s got his work cut out for him though, to get a tune out of some of these work-shy bastards. Good luck with that! Quote
wee toon red Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Fair play to Robinson for his comments about managers not deciding a system, the players available dictate that. Far, far better way of thinking than attempting to shoehorn a squad into a way of playing that they aren’t suited to. Of course our bunch might be so hopeless that they aren’t suited to much but that won’t be the head coach’s fault… Quote
Mentorred Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Was impressed with his first team meeting 4 Quote
Goldie03 Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Well it has been some rollercoaster since lifting the Scottish Cup last May. I could not believe the announcement from Aberdeen two days ago but now that he is in the door feel a bit calmer tbh and good that he at least for now is coming across well. Hope Leven goes today - I was at Dunfermine cuptie and those players were running about like headless chickens. I'm hoping for a bit of stability and some points please then group stages of league cup will be much better prep for the season to come. 2 Quote
Blow.Up.Sheep Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago As I said earlier, welcome to the club Stephen and I really do hope you go on to do great things with us and for us. You have the opportunity here to go on and be club legend so ah the very best min. The more I look at this and think about the last few months then there is just know way our resident wage thief and penguin snatcher had any input in this appointment whatsoever (my opinion) I think he has been overruled by Burrows who has "pulled rank" and told Cormack enough is fkn enough. And there is also a previous connection between Robinson and Burrows. I might be over thinking this and over egging the omelet sort of speak but I just have a gut feeling the Lutz will be away before the end of the season (well I fukin hope he is anyway) His contact book from all over the world hasn't really lived up to its hype and the boy himself is quite probably the dummest appointment Cormack has ever made. Anyway Back on topic - Stephen Robinson (our new gaffer) let's do this min get after it and make it fukin happen. Ah the best Quote
Redbull74 Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I'm glad to see the majority are prepared to back him. Honestly, I get the frustration that we've gone for someone that we could have got months ago. In reality, the club has maybe realised that you can be as ambitious as you want with regards to getting someone in with a higher profile, who has managed in the top European leagues, but In the end, if no one wants to come...you can't make them. How long should they have left it trying to get in a 'bigger name'? Quote

At the very least I expect him to sort out our defence however it doesn’t help that most/all of our half-decent defenders are all injured. So Robinson gets my full support and let’s hope for a new manager bounce on Saturday! The defence is the easy part to sort out after all. Sorry… 1 Quote
Dougal Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago I would not be at all surprised if we had just worked our way down the list as it was becoming clear we weren't going to get our preferred candidate or that the interim appointments clearly weren't working. No doubt that Robinson would have interviewed well and most likely that it was Lutz who would have conducted the interview. I don't buy the whole Ai - Lutz sent me a threatening DM on twitter stuff. Leave the gossip for the fish wives. It's clear some fans have had it in for Lutz from the start. Like a lot of fans, it'll take a wee while to warm to the idea of our new coach but he's made a good start without a ball being kicked. Really wish him well. 1 Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Recruitment will be the key for success under Robinson. Hopefully the contact book of Lutz can find better players than it did in January. I'm glad most fans are mainly behind Robinson, but like Goodwin before him, it won't take much for our fanbase to turn against him. He can fuck off right off though, if he starts making our players roll around injured after the five minute mark, like his St Mirren team did. I'm no football purist, but I hate that shit. We might be shit, but we can surely be better than that. 1 Quote

Dougal Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I'm not convinced the refs do enough to control these sort of things either. If they played on they'd soon stop writhing around Quote

I can understand it late in a game, if you are winning or drawing away from home, but not two minutes into a game. Quote

Aberdeen for about the last few years, don’t really show any interest in going in at halftime in the lead. Quote
