BigAl Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Contract until the summer of 2029 By no stretch of the imagination would he have been my choice but he's here now. so go on prove me and the thousands of other doubters wrong. Three points on Saturday please would be a positive start. 1 Quote

CurlsLikeTattie Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Not my first choice - although I have no idea who my first choice would be - and I am pretty underwhelmed. But it is his job to prove us all wrong and I sincerely hope he can. First tasks to get the team to gel again and avoid relegation. Then have a decent summer Then have a good first half to next season, showing where progress is being made. I'm a natural optimist and believe in giving people a fair crack and the benefit of the doubt. But if there are no signs of progress in the first half of next season (or, heaven forbid, we blow our 8 point cushion), I will let my negativity out - but until that time, welcome aboard Stephen, I wish you nothing but success with the michty Dons, and hope you go on to become a club legend. 1 Quote
The.Moog Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Oh well thats that. 2 month wait for a guy we could have had….er…. 2 months ago He needs to get all our backing now, & good luck getting anything out of that spineless shitebag squad, but he’s not gonna get a lot of rope fae the support Neither is Dave. Last chance saloon. So apparently we’ve moved on from the 3 year “project” - its a two phase plan this time Phase 1 - don’t get relegated this year. Phase 2 - don’t get relegated next year. I’m all in, its a winner… Quote
Mason89 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago If we play direct football and the players look like they’re trying, then I’ll settle for that for now The team better change its approach to suit him, rather than the other way about. If he’s been brought here to roll the ball out from the back, we’re fucked 1 Quote

Pretty sure he could still put in a better shift in the middle of the park than some of our current lot. Anyway welcome to the Dons Stephen, and here's hoping you go on to do some great things with us and for us. All the best min. Now COYFR Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Underwhelmed and feel somewhat cheated but he's here now. Win games, do goals and he'll be a hit. Don't and he'll be binned. It's the nature of the beast. Initial thoughts are that's another long contract that DC will inevitably have to pay out a big chunk of well before the intended three years are up. Attire? He's a coach not a manager so sportswear is the correct garb. As long as it's not minky stuff like ** Under Armour that one of his Paisley fence pals half inched out of Sports Direct. ** Isn't it peculiar that as a yank brand they've opted to use the English spelling of the word instead of the brain-dead yanks version "armor". It's the little things. Quote
DantheDon Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Underwhelmed is probably how I would describe my feelings. I think the fans will quickly turn on not just him but the board if it doesn’t work out. Obviously it was speculated that the board have gone above Lutz head on this one, so it’s interesting to see that Dave has made the statement confirming his arrival. Be interested to see if Lutz might be on the way out. Edited 11 hours ago by DantheDon Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Oh FFS. I've just read all the words. So many words. Quotes from Lutz. So he's not going then. Ridiculous. He's clearly a man with no sense of honour or self-respect. Quote
Panda Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Currently watching his YouTube interview and my enthusiasm for him is waning due to the amount of times he says "football club". Not a good start to his tenure. Expected better than this. 2 Quote

RicoS321 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Would have been nice just to get him on a two year deal so that there's less to pay off. The biggest problem that he'll face is the lack of time he'll get. A foreign "exciting" manager would have got more time. The squad is extremely poor, and once again we'll be looking at 10+ players to come in, with a view to six being starters. That's an extremely tall order for any manager, nevermind one that's coming in with a reputation for playing shite fitba, who will almost certainly be forced to play shite fitba regardless because of the atrocious squad he's inherited. My guess is Robinson probably insisted on the 3.5 years. Why wouldn’t he? Lets be honest, after the clusterfuck we made of the prawcess, he held all the cards… 5 Quote
tlg1903 Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Well it's done now, welcome to the Famous Stephen. Solid first interview but that's hardly surprising given he always speaks well. Lets see what happens I guess 1 Quote
GASC1980 Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago I feel cheated and completely underwhelmed. It has been a complete circus getting to this point. I really can't see a future at the club for Lutz if his position has been undermind by burrows. The board have acted in a totally amateurish fashion throughgout all of this. Not my choice and quite clearly not the club's first choice (otherrwise wait 2 plus months). Smacks of desperation and panic with I think Dunfermline result spooking Cormack and Burrows. He'll get my support as any new guy (apart from warnock) would but I can't see him getting much rope and unless there is a very quick turnaround in terms of performances and results wont last long. I think he has been superb for Motherwell and St. Mirren but not the right fit here. 2 and a half months of "global recruitment" has seen us ending up going to Paisley again. Not good. 2 1 Quote
Panda Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Not sure Lutz has been undermined here considering we were interested in Robinson two months ago, and Lutz began the process by saying he wanted someone with knowledge of Scottish football. But I guess it'll all come out over the next few months. I think we all know Robinson wasn't the first choice. Horneland obviously fell through for "unforeseen circumstances". Cormack mentioning Schwarz last week in an interview wasn't helpful, but the kind of brain fart we've come to expect from our dear leader. 2 Quote

This appointment has nothing to do with Lutz. Burrows is best pals with Robinson and he's clearly gone over the Germans head and Cormack has ran with it. As much as I don't think Lutz has done a great job thus far I feel heart sorry for him. He's been left looking like a cuck. Quote

OrlandoDon Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Well, it’s sinking in from yesterday and now announced. As always, I’ll go win a positive spin. Disappointed but glass is half full! name a foreign manager that has done well in Scotland. There’s not many. Motherwell are not the norm. Rohl is on a good run, but they still aren’t a great side. Robinson is not glamorous, but smart. It’s been a shit show two month shut maybe it ended for the best? the guy is proven to be able to coach in this league. This season for st mirren is more the exception than the norm for him, a he still won a cup, and is still in another….well, was! Knows the situation more than most. Knows us and what the fans expect. There are no surprises for him. He also is very well prepared for opponents, even for the next 9 games. his style of play may not be great but I am sure there will be demands of quality football. At the same time, Mcinnes did not always play quality football. Win games and he’ll get support. He’ll also get a bigger budget, and a network of scouting that’s probably bigger than at st mirren. id take killian Philips over Armstrong, palaversa, and possibly Geiger and afeez. Not meaning we sign him, but if he can get Philips to play like he’s doing, maybe he gets more out of our bunch. Quote

Bukta Bertie Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago What's with the stupid tight fit tracksuits these days. They look bloody awful and can't be very comfortable. That being said the trackies were tight in my day too. Even had little foot stirrups. Like the way he's looking like the cat that's got the cream though. He knows he's won the lottery getting this gig let's hope he doesn't smash his golden egg. Quote
