Dunfermline v The Scottish Cup holders

Was gonna post this in the Motherwell match thread, but seems apt to just start this one early.

Was just saying to someone on my way home from work there that the Dunfermline tie being away is the best thing that can happen to us.

If it had been at home, of course it increases our chances of winning, but it's another 9,000 home crowd, a win expected, and even if we get through it's not going to give our season a massive lift. The same way it didn't when we beat Raith Rovers in the last round. Sometimes even reaching Hampden gets a muted response.

But away from home, Saturday night, 2000-3000 travelling fans - maybe even more - the away end buzzing. One of those nights that - if we win - you get that connection between the fans and the players that we've seldom had this season. The new signings get to see just how good our away support can be if they deliver good performances.

A "proper cup tie" if you like, a chance to make Neil Lennon greet. It's something to look forward to which we really, really needed to keep the enthusiasm going for this season.

Also, despite Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell having significantly better league seasons than us, the odds on us winning a trophy are a lot shorter than it is for them, which is really quite something.

Tickets: Stand behind the goal holds 3,000. When Hibs sold it out they were given an extra 1,000 in the main stand and in the stand opposite, turning the ground almost into a 50/50 split. Saturday night will put a few off but we'll still take very decent numbers I'm sure.

Milanovic - just why?

Is there another club in world football that just gives the ball away as easily and as often as these pricks. There can’t be surely.

Anyone think this shower have the desire, ability or minerals to turn this round?

Me neither.

Go on Dons, prove me wrong…

I was surprised Armstrong started, was breathing out his arse on Wednesday night.

Like Nilsen and Shinnie, he can't play two games is quick succession.

We can’t defend and our confidence is shot. Totally evaporated after that first goal.

Can we clone Dylan Lobban please.

Out-thought by Lennon. Outplayed by Dunfermline. We still haven't found our level.

It wasn’t a bad start but after the goal we’ve been dire. So little created and only one deflected shot for a corner. Rarely threatening. Have to go two up top, prob see milanovic for olusanya. You could sub about five or six off but no improvement on the bench to come in.

Why is Milanovic still on the park? That is all on Leven. Inexcusable.

The fact Leven gave Milanovic any minutes at all after what he had done so far this season, is a sackable offence in itself. He must fucking Maradona in training

Really? I wouldn’t say that. What have they done exactly? We’re just shit. They haven’t done anything eye opening or surprising, they are just more aggressive and look like a team. We’re clueless individuals out there.

Our reign as cup holders wasn't meant to end like this.

Lumped a long ball into the box knowing we can’t defend the box for fuck all = goal.

All he had to do…

Well I'm a big enough man to admit I've made a monumental arse of myself. Think I'll use the egg I have on my face to bake myself a humble pie because I've got an awful lot of it to eat.

Jesus that was beyond bad. Really good first ten minutes or so then we gift them a goal and it rapidly went south.

If we don't turn this around I want Leven gone TONIGHT with Docherty taking over. It's not all on him by a long chalk but it would be symbolic. That level of cock up just can't be accepted. Over 3700 fans there tonight many of whom rightly booed their team off at half time and they deserve to see a head rolling.

No just Olasanya isnt enough we need 3 goals so more forwards

I'm convinced Lutz picks the team.

Eh?

Not a single Dons player on that park is worthy of praise tonight. Not one of them.

Have seen nothing from afeez, but I’d bring him on for Armstrong and he’s a holding mid. I’d pla sivert if he was more mobile but he’s not. Afeez to play infront of the back 4 and tell the full backs to push on, and shinnie and Cameron to push forward. All three center mids have dropped deep, getting zero from the middle of the park at present resulting in very little attacking threat.

Lightbulb moment then.

Still think we’re not in relegation trouble too…?

I'm shitting it.

PS. Hope that level of industrial language is permitted given the gravity of the situation we find ourselves in.

They have us sussed and are winning 2 nil. That is all they needed to do and they are doing it well.

I’m was meaning Armstrong or Cameron on the right and olusanya up top. 4-4-2, but after thinking more I’d hook Armstrong too.

does it really matter. Other than the livi game we don’t look capable regardless of formation or players on the park.

Aye but there's no managerial expertise involved. We've just been absolutely murder.

Please don't be thinking Lennon is the man we need to MAGA.

I think you’re giving them credit for nothing. What’s to suss? We’re pish, other than the fact we cannot defend long balls or diagonal balls, we all know that, doesn’t take a special coach to see that, they’ve done nothing creative or unique. We’re just a bad team.

Two things are glaringly obvious.

Milanovic can't be here after summer and Shinnie can't get another contract.

Guess he did play sivert instead of afeez and get shinnie and armstong to be more attack minded? Oh, an molloy, fuck knows.

Nothing agaist Molloy but why take Frame off?

At least we now have the oldest midfield in the country
