Dunfermline v The Scottish Cup holders

Was gonna post this in the Motherwell match thread, but seems apt to just start this one early.

Was just saying to someone on my way home from work there that the Dunfermline tie being away is the best thing that can happen to us.

If it had been at home, of course it increases our chances of winning, but it's another 9,000 home crowd, a win expected, and even if we get through it's not going to give our season a massive lift. The same way it didn't when we beat Raith Rovers in the last round. Sometimes even reaching Hampden gets a muted response.

But away from home, Saturday night, 2000-3000 travelling fans - maybe even more - the away end buzzing. One of those nights that - if we win - you get that connection between the fans and the players that we've seldom had this season. The new signings get to see just how good our away support can be if they deliver good performances.

A "proper cup tie" if you like, a chance to make Neil Lennon greet. It's something to look forward to which we really, really needed to keep the enthusiasm going for this season.

Also, despite Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell having significantly better league seasons than us, the odds on us winning a trophy are a lot shorter than it is for them, which is really quite something.

Tickets: Stand behind the goal holds 3,000. When Hibs sold it out they were given an extra 1,000 in the main stand and in the stand opposite, turning the ground almost into a 50/50 split. Saturday night will put a few off but we'll still take very decent numbers I'm sure.

I don't think Lennon is any better than McInnes (and, we should have been upgrading on McInnes, Thelin the only man we've appointed since who at least had a background and CV to suggest he may have been).

What really goes against him is all the baggage that comes with him. I'd find it difficult to accept him as manager and I like to think I'm one of the less reactionary fans.

He's going a good job at Dunfermline and fair play to him, but he's not what we need. He's a chequebook manager, a Celtic Jimmy Calderwood if you like. Give him a good squad and he might get them playing, but at Celtic he frustrated all the coaches because he had zero interest in the youth team and no desire to ever promote anyone. At Hibs he inherited a good team and as they broke up he couldn't fix it or rebuild, he left them in eighth. And he absolutely blew Celtic's chances of 10 in a row.

I won't lose any sleep over us not appointing Lennon.

Fair comments panda mate.

I am not suggesting that he is the man for the job now as I said (that ship has sailed long ago) But if !!!!! we had appointed Lennon as the initial replacement for McInnes all I am saying is that we would not be in the same shit show that we are currently in. That was the correct time to appoint popcorn teeth, but now it is not as we are way tooo deep in the shit for Lennon to pull us out of it.

But I do realize if is the main word in all that.

IF my granny had balls she would have been my grandad.

I really have no fukin clue where we go from here, but I do believe that Cormack is largely to blame and in the present day (although only here 5 minutes) we have all seen enough form the penguin thief already to know that he is not going to helping the situation any time soom.

What a fukin mess 🙄

Your weekly reminder that Lennon called us sheepsgaggers over the Parkhead tannoy and lied about receiving sectarian abuse from us at Tynecastle.
Dunfermlines league position shows how good they are when they’re not playing us every week.
He’s a total throbber who can’t work a toothbrush, a washing machine or eat biscuits without spilling the crumbs all over himself

It’s a hard pass from me

Safe travels for those coming down to Fife today.

A wee bit local advice for those driving down.

Free parking is available at Leys Park near the police station. This is a short walk from the town centre and EEP, however it’s the other end of the ground from the away stand and will be gridlocked for a while after the game.

On street parking may be available in the Garvock Hill area near the stadium but I would imagine it will get very busy and don’t park on the pavement!

If you fancy a walk, Asda and the Halbeath Retail Park just off the M90 have a large parking area though it’s about a 30 minute walk to the ground. The walk can be interrupted by a visit to The Elizabethan on the way(if you can get in).

I will quietly be cheering on from the Main Stand today and hope that my sons are looking forward to next week against Raith instead of a Cup Semi Final at full time.

Parking fine arrived for parking at Halbeath retail park. Time restriction, apparently very well sign posted. I didn't see anything. Fuckers. Anyway, info for when we get them in the playoff. I hope the owner of the car park dies in horrible circumstances. Absolutely parasitic form of rentierism.

Fuck em, don’t pay it.

Good idea. It's my wife's car, so it's her that they'll go after. I'm contemplating going full gaslight and asking her how she doesn't remember the day out she had in Dunfermline only a week ago. Maybe hide some of her things and remind her about the great time we had at various events we never attended.

I got fines each way in the Tyne Tunnel last July - that is very well signposted but me & my daughter so busy talking didn't notice 🤣

Its an invoice from a private company, not a fine.

Totally unenforceable unless they take you to court (which they won’t).

They also have to prove who was driving as the invoice is for the driver not the owner, so unless you tell them who was driving they can’t prove anything.

You’ll get a few stupid red coloured invoices all talking about how they “may” or “could” take you to court - they won’t.

They’ll give up in a while - just don’t engage with them in any way.

I’ve had a few, never paid one in my life.

Just don’t tell the wife. Women are mugs when it comes to this stuff & tend to want to pay up.

Fuck that, smash the system!!!

Correct, the law up here protects you from it in the most part.

They could enforce it, but it is usually just a fishing exercise to see who bites and pays.

The feckers at the Berryden retail park are bad for this.

Yep - Morrisons on King Street is a personal favourite of mine.

Free city centre parking, what’s not to like!!

There is what used to be a disabled bay right outside my house.  It was for the previous resident as we are close to a school and she used to really struggle if she had to park further away.  Sha had it de-registered when I bought it and I made sure to check with the council a few months later to make sure they hadn't fucked it.  Fast forward 3 years I come home to find a ticket on my my mums car (I had borrowed it whilst my car was in the garage for a few days) so I followed the instructions and sent an email to the email address listed on the ticket.  It said words to the effect off "This is no longer a registered disabled bay and hasn't been for 3 years, you have no authority to issue a fine for parking in that spot" and received a reply saying I had to pay it anyway and they would not correspond further.  The reason I tell you all this is because my mum and my sister were adament we should just pay it as they wouldn't issue it if they weren't right (which, as someone whom has worked for the local authority, made me gut laugh)and then try and claim it back but thankfully I had an email from the council by this point confirming it was de-registered 3 years ago so they agreed to wait until they chased the money and we could actually speak to a human.  A month later a snotty demands letter comes through with a phone number to speak to a human.  Said human was actually really sound and  fairly mortified when it became clear she was helping the councils effort to illegally extort 100 pounds from a pensioner and she must have kicked off about it too as  the traffic warden who issued the ticket personally came to my door to apologise for the hassle.  In fairness to him the council had never bothered to remove the sign next to the bay stating it was a disabled bay.
