Dunfermline v The Scottish Cup holders

Was gonna post this in the Motherwell match thread, but seems apt to just start this one early.

Was just saying to someone on my way home from work there that the Dunfermline tie being away is the best thing that can happen to us.

If it had been at home, of course it increases our chances of winning, but it's another 9,000 home crowd, a win expected, and even if we get through it's not going to give our season a massive lift. The same way it didn't when we beat Raith Rovers in the last round. Sometimes even reaching Hampden gets a muted response.

But away from home, Saturday night, 2000-3000 travelling fans - maybe even more - the away end buzzing. One of those nights that - if we win - you get that connection between the fans and the players that we've seldom had this season. The new signings get to see just how good our away support can be if they deliver good performances.

A "proper cup tie" if you like, a chance to make Neil Lennon greet. It's something to look forward to which we really, really needed to keep the enthusiasm going for this season.

Also, despite Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell having significantly better league seasons than us, the odds on us winning a trophy are a lot shorter than it is for them, which is really quite something.

Tickets: Stand behind the goal holds 3,000. When Hibs sold it out they were given an extra 1,000 in the main stand and in the stand opposite, turning the ground almost into a 50/50 split. Saturday night will put a few off but we'll still take very decent numbers I'm sure.

Genuine question, is this the worst Aberdeen team in living memory? I can't think of a worse team that would struggle against these charlatans.

I always thought this team that lost at Firhill were the worst but they would rinse this current lot

Kjaer (Preece 38), Rutkiewicz, Deloumeaux, McGuire, Fabiano (Michie 65), Young, Tiernan, Young (Thornley 78), Billio, Mackie, Mike.

I’ve watched some shite from AFC over the last 30 years, but this shambles of a team & season takes the fuckin biscuit.

They should all be fuckin ashamed of thrmselves, all of them, on and off the park.

I know they won’t be, cause none of them clearly seem to give a fuck, but they should be…

We've had worse seasons, but as for a squad of players.

We've spent good money on this lot too.

I think I will reserve judgement on that until the season is over. We have the will, the belief and drive to make it the worst ever.

What's really galling is we'll get the obligatory jovial training ground pics in preparation for the next game. Not one sullen face amongst them and they look like they don't have a care in the world.

Shambles is the key word. We’re a mess and as said, zero leadership on the park and nothing from the coaching side. Don’t see how this improves.

Odds on lazetic getting sent off??

Not laying this solely at Leven's door but there HAS to be a fall guy for this result and performance. If the status quo remains then it's an acknowledgement that regardless of how things are going there won't be a sacrificial lamb so to speak.

I now have the fear for relegation for the first time this season.

Most of them have been brought in from abroad to be "developed" and sold on for a profit. Most of them probably hadn't heard of Aberdeen before we signed them.

It doesn't matter to them. They still get paid.

Can anyone explain how putting on Morrison will save this game? Baffling.

Things are so bad that I’m in Ma Cameron’s and somebody has suggested we go and see a Smiths tribute act in Drummonds. That’s how bad things are.

I think it's 50/50 we get relegated if we finish 11 but honestly believe we must definitely be odds on to finish there.

Heaven knows you're miserable now

Other than a deflected shot over the bar for a corner, don’t recall a shot on goal….

Its truly breathtaking how catastrophically mismanaged the football operation has been.

I mean, if you deliberately set out to fuck the whole thing up, you couldn’t do worse than this.

Its quite staggering.

The above is a big part of why we’re in this mess though.

Leven needs to go tonight, someone needs held responsible.

He won’t of course, cause at AFC losing to Darvel isn’t seen as a sacking offence, but he should…

It’s an easy gig being employed by Aberdeen. Zero consequences

I've said that for long enough. There is zero pressure playing for Aberdeen as you're not expected to win anything, top 6 is seen as a great result and only avoiding relegation is a prerequisite.

Well and truly shafted by a mid table championship team. This is what everyone involved with the playing side of the club deserves. Buying players that are useless, loaning scum, throwing money at coaches that apparently do fuck all and the list goes on. I don't care how many interviews Cormack does with the utter pish that comes out of his mouth. The club needs a reset and everyone there now needs to fuck off.

Since the third goal our attacking play has been punt but long and hope. Got zero from it. Shambles. Hope leven goes and we give doc the team until summer.

Seasons not over of course.

This lot still need to get relegated first…

We need more than a sacked/punted Ross County manager.

We need the folk in charge to pull their finger out and get a manager in.

Six/seven players signed in January and not one has improved us, not one.

Our ‘new’ manager isn’t coming until summer whether we like this or not. We absolutely cannot continue as is but cannot fill the spot with a permanent manager right now, I’d say doc is more capable and experienced than leven and that is needed right now.

Fur me it's time that burrows came under serious fire.  These guys all work under him.  We've got three experienced managers in there ( if you count leven ) and a DOF.

He needs to go and a new manager needs to come in.  Shinnie has to go this season.  We need to bring in a new winner to build around and jack milne needs to go out on loan because he's not up to this level.

Half the players we signed hadn’t kicked a ball in 6 months ffs.

The other half had only played a handful of games.

What did they expect? Its beyond belief really…

Three old farts in the middle of the pitch and not one bit of leadership coming from them at any point tonight. Burn their contracts.
