Nae sure there was a club shop on Bridge st in the early 80's,could be wrong? Must have closed about 15/20 years ago...,

The font on that certificate hasn't been used since the Magna Carta, so I suspect it will be worth a fortune.

Bridge Street 😉

How could I forget that.

About time they re-opened a club shop in the city centre…

@Slim @Kowalski as has been said what great things to have.

Was going to say not that long ago, it would have been around 2010 - but that is that long ago 🙈

Speaking of places closing - Blue Lampie closes next week. Sad, sad, sad 😔

Think the last time I went to the bridge street shop was late 90s / early 00s. I was always surprised the club haven’t even done a regular pop up in town (not that I live there but not something I’ve heard). Especially given the number of vacant shops from what I read.

Why pay rent, business rates, Utliities, insurance, staff and delivery costs for a commerical unit which in these days of online retail will fairly likely make an operating loss?

Thelin mentioned he was working hard in training the other day and he will come into contention for squad place once transfer window opens.

The original club shop in the early 1970s was in Nelson Street. Number 57, if memory serves me sufficiently, for I am a rapidly-ageing, non-mellowing, Bertie Miller-haranguing curmudgeon.
They also used to sell basic merch from the pie shoppie lean-to at the King Street End.

I found out today that the last team in the Scottish top flight to field numbers 1-11 in their starting line-up was us back in 2011 against St. Mirren.

The team was: 1. Langfield, 2. McArdle, 3. McNamee, 4. Folly, 5. Diamond, 6. Considine, 7. Maguire, 8. Hartley, 9. Vernon, 10. Mackie, 11. Aluko.

My granda walked there from my grandparents home in Baker street the first week the Nelson Street shop was open. He bought me a club pennant that showed the club honours including the then recent Drybrough Cup and the not so recent league cup win against the deid club, 1946, which has since been struck from the record.

I was so excited as a kid that there could be something to do with the Dons that was not just on a Saturday afternoon.

You could go into the shop any time you like and buy stuff. That had something to do with Aberdeen. Who would have thought… Of course such commercial taking the pi$$ out of all of us was so novel in them days…I don’t think there was even a new strip to buy every summer. Maybe every other two years. In any case all that folk wore was red and white barred knitted scarves.

So the Nelson Street shop didn’t last long….

Was looking for the AFC Limerick thread, couldnt find it so tried the originator (One Brian Irvine) comments to see where it was, looks like all her stuff has been deleted?

Someone wrote a poem instead of a limerick, which must've broken the thread.

A complaint was received of homophobic language and the entire thread was deleted.

I've only just had the opportunity to catch up on matters and have deleted the relevant post but restored the rest of the thread.

It is very rare to have to get involved in moderating threads on here and whilst the use of shall we call it, adult language is permitted, please be wary that what is acceptable to you is not always everyone else's cup of tea.

Please be mindful of how others might interpret what you say.

I will bow to your greater knowledge of these things BigAl but it was a jesty comment suggesting someone looked a bit gay, nothing else.  I am surprised you felt the need to take it down yet are ok with the endless use of sectarian phrases like hun bastard and tim cunt or what some might call racist language such as english prick elsewhere on the site 🤨

I thought it was a little bit 2006ish if I'm honest. You'll learn. English prick likely isn't acceptable either, and I expect it to be gone from acceptable lexicon by the end of the decade. Hun bastard, and Tim cunt, are eternally merited, and should be used in a balanced way that conveys the correct amount of hate without being so overused that they lose their spitefulness. Hopefully @BigAl can keep tally and moderate if either of those two terms borders on light-heartedness.

February 2024 v Hibs at Pittodrie our starting outfield team wore numbers 2-11.   Only spoiled by Kelle Roos who would normally been expected to wear a No.1 shirt but had opted for No. 24 at the start of the season.

I remember we didn't have a Number 1 that season. That's one of the reasons why we finished at Number 7.

I didn't see the offending post so can't comment on it, but why has all OBI's other posts from December been removed? Are we trying to pretend they didn't exist?

Maybe removed them herself, which seemed odd if so,being subjected to Donsdafts homophobic rants over the road?

Is the correct answer.

Hope OBI reflects and returns 👍

God has proclaimed that he doesn't want any more "three year projects" at Aberdeen.

Hopefully Cormack listens to Him.

I heard he was offered a choice of 18 months in jail or a season ticket for next year.
