Stepped down as Accies chairman for health reasons.

Quote

It is with deep respect and sincere gratitude that we announce the resignation of our Chairman, Jock Brown, who has stepped down from his position due to health reasons.

Jock has been much more than a Chairman to this Football Club. He has been a constant source of wisdom, integrity, and compassion, one of the most complete human beings that we have ever had the privilege to work alongside. He has been guiding the Club through one of the most challenging and turbulent periods in its history, demonstrating strength, patience, and unwavering commitment when these qualities were in short supply.

His leadership was not about holding an empty Chairmans title or seeking recognition; it was about people – about keeping faith in our values, protecting the very existence of our Club, and ultimately his love and respect for those who contribute to the game for the right reasons.

Jock’s dedication came at great personal cost. The demands and pressures of this challenging and turbulent period have had a profound impact on his health, and while his decision to step away saddens us deeply, we fully support it and hope he now takes the time to rest, recover, and focus on his wellbeing.

The entire Club owes Jock an enormous debt of gratitude. His honesty, personal integrity and commitment to operational transparency have ensured that a clear benchmark has been created for the club to continually strive for.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jock and his family for their contribution, care, and sacrifice. He leaves with our deepest admiration and our enduring friendship.

Thank you, Jock. You will always be part of a crucial point in this Club’s story.

Sad to hear this.  Jock is in my second favourite commentator of all time (pipped at the post by Alastair Alexander) and it sounds like he is probably on his way out.

Ach sad news.

Only yesterday watched a Gilhaus compilation clip and thought to myself how much I missed his commentary and how he was leagues ahead of what we have now.

I’m sure there’s an element of nostalgia and an association with past success but commentary now is absolutely dreadful. Since Derek Rae moved overseas struggling to name one commentator I don’t mind.

Wonder how much the cheating at Accies (registering players as amateurs but paying them to get round signing ban) had to do with this decision.

Agree on the commentator comments although he got a fair amount of stick from fans. Remember many a game where you would hear “We hate Jock Brown. He’s a Hun. He’s Hun.

Possibly related to this from 2005

Days of Setanta and still not clear if he said 'we're' or 'they're'

Always liked jock brown as a commentator although I sometimes felt he tried a little too hard to be cultured/educated. I preferred Archie and his sound effects.

Arthur Montford was a little odd, did/do like Derek Rae who I have heard quite a lot over here. I was also fortunate to catch the tail end of David Francey’s career. Can’t remember, was he a dons fan or did he just cover quite a few of our games??

Aye David Begg is quite a prolific poster on X/Twitter and doesn't hide his Dons leanings.

Jock Brown - I met him a few weeks ago when he was in to do the Sportscene anniversary show. Lovely bloke. Hopefully it's just a "you need to slow down" advice from the doctor and not anything too concerning.

Lucky git, I bet he's got some tremendous tales to tell!
