Hibs Home 03/09

Back to league business on Sunday against managerless Hibs. Really need to start winning league games as if we lose this on Sunday we will be bottom of the league with Hearts away next.

Would expect changes from Thursday to allow player to rotate and rest. Would like to see us go to 4 at the back but not sure Robson will move away from 3. Up front I would be tempted to drop Duk and maybe give Sokler or  Gueye a run.

  • Well, I defended us big time after Thursday, but bar the first few mins of each half we've been awful today. Problem I see is drive in center mid. Rama a big miss and we have few workhorses in there w

  • Ha, here we go. Square peg round hole. I also thought that yesterday too, move devlin into center mid alongside shinnie. Didn’t think Barron was bad yesterday, we just miss Rama’s drive, physicality,

  • Pretty sure you know the answer to your own question, and given the window has just closed I don’t see us moving on from a 3-5-2 just yet. We went all in on the transfer market playing 3-5-2 and signe

Wasn’t one of the reasons we were so keen to get shinnie was because Barron and Rama didn’t work? I just don’t think Barron is mobile, athletics, and physical enough.

It did work as a two with Clarkson in front (hearts at pittodrie under Goodwin springs to mind). That only happened a couple of times. Barron needs to be facing the play, so when he was moved further forward, with Ramadani on his own behind, he struggled. He can either play the number six with two in front (but we don't have the two in front), or in a two sitting with one in front (Clarkson or McGrath). Anything else he turns pish as he doesn't have the athleticism as you suggest and ends up getting lost. At the moment, Robson is almost exclusively playing two midfielders in front and expecting them to be hyper fit and get up and down the pitch. I'm certain it'll lead to injury soon.
