  1. Second half vs Maribor in the away leg. Every time the ball went above waist height the ref blew for a free kick against us. By far and away the worst I've witnessed. The Russian ref who sent off a ton of Portuguese and Dutch players in the World Cup? That was another.
  2. 100% agree. So many of the "wee"-er teams go 1/2/3-0 up against the filth by firing into them; but always collapse by sitting back once they have a nose bleed from actually playing well against them - which wee teams aren't meant to do. That's our issue. Whoever we get in needs to be a no-nonsense battering ram in mid-field who won't allow us to sit and 'hold' them off. Ideally one who can play as well, but those guys will likely be a level above what we can afford. We can always hope we unearth a gem that no one has spotted, but more than likely someone like Draper fits the bill. Better players around him might lift him too.
  3. Just recently acquired a Zgemma h2s and planning on binning Sky thereafter – apparently telling them there is no money in the account and to cancel it didn’t work…and I'm still tied in until July. Only issue I have is that the skybox is in the loft, so I need to buy a Wifi boost plug with an Ethernet cable to connect the internet into the box, plus an additional receiver to get my magic eye working from the old sky box. A bit of cash and hassle for hopefully a lot less dosh in the long run! Did you take the plunge Mondo? - I've seen one up and running and you'd never know any different from Sky; except you lose anytime, but you record onto a USB in the back so you wouldn't know much of a difference.
  4. He'd had more than enough cash to invest in new contracts; as well as enough cash to buy half a dozen players for the same position?!! The whole 'budget' issue is becoming tiresome - it's plenty if you spend it right!! Fair enough we'll never compete with Septic, but just be clever with the money you have. The lack of learning from past mistakes and hoping that the 'same old' will do is more of an issue than your budget Deek.
  5. That is a superb line! My biggest issue is the lack of SPL or form players being played. Patterson didn't look out of place at RB, yet the top scorer in the SPL the past few season can't get in due to a guy who had one decent little run in the Championship in England. It's just a farce. Plus he refuses to play McCormack and Rhodes?!! Christ! Wales/NI/RI would all have them in their starting 11 every day of the week! - yet we don't?!! The tactics never change. We get one guy in just as it's all went Pete-Tong in the current campaign who gives us a brief lift; then low and behold he's just the same tired boring appointment and he's dunted for the same old at the same point in the next campaign. Until they take the appointment and the selections seriously, we'll be the laughing stock over and over.
  6. That’s a long time he’s been out injured. Good luck to him in finding his form again. Like others have said, I didn’t think he was particularly great, but he seemed to know the route to goal – scoring all sorts. He kind of reminded me of Diego Molito at Inter in that sense; he scored, but it was always a hard shift for him. Hats off to him for doing the business up through the lower leagues in Scotland as well. He’s an example to follow!
  7. Pr*ck of the highest order. You see guys like Gigi Buffon betling out their national anthem as it's the proudest moment of their professional career, representing their country; then you have this glorified NED with 2 brain cells fighting between each other in his empty head. Should never of been near the national team after the farce with him and Macgregor. Who'd of thought as a professional athlete you shouldn't be up to 5 in the morning blootered when away on national duty? - not dear old Barry. Glad to see his managerial career is going well
  8. @Superdon67 Aye, it's an absolute joke. National Semi-finals being played at this time. What is the thinking behind this? It was good to see the club come out and express their issues with it, as they'll be hit in the hipper as a result!! I can't manage down due to the ridiculous time and prior engagement - ooo-er - on the Friday night. Absolutely gutted.
  9. It’s a bit of a weird one why he was signed when he was injured and so injury prone – looks like he’ll never play and wasting a wage which could be used to bolster Centre midfield.
  10. I signed up here during the last exodus, but have since not posted on any sites (mainly due to Ad-Mad's slow death and not being bothered). What's the script with Ad-mad now, with Ed going is that now game over? - or is someone taking it over? Hopefully everyone jumps ship. Hopefully this site takes off as a result, it's easy to use and no pop-ups!
  11. He had to go to better himself and he was always going to wind up at Dundee with the Hartley connection. He’ll do well there if he stays injury free, and you never know, a few years down the line with regular first team football, we might see him back here.
  12. Although it remains a pipe dream, the next week or so will be a massive decider in Celtic’s season. They’ve got Dundee away, then Utd away then Dundee at home. Dundee are a decent outfit, and may grab something at home. Utd have started a bitter rivalry with them due to their numerous encounters, and player losses. You never know… Hopefully, one half of jute city can help us out. As much as I don’t think we’ll win league, it would make it massively interesting if they drop points in any of those 3 games above, then play us at home, and have to go into the last day of the season needing a win against ICT (arguably the most likely outside of us to take points off them). The fat lady may not be singing quite yet!
  13. I said a while ago back on Ab-Mad that he was wanting to go, but that his bird’s just had a baby and he has bought a house in Cove, and if she didn’t want to go, I’d imagine he wouldn’t be going anywhere. Hopefully that’s the case!
  14. I wouldn’t wait with bated breath the next time the TV deal comes around Tubs, I remember last time you laid out how the likes of Scandinavia all have channels explicitly for their football leagues. We’ll wind up with whatever nonsense Sky offers, which will be less than darts and the egg chasers. Oh to have someone with foresight in charge!
  15. Funnily enough, Hamilton and Motherwell were the other 2 I planned to use. The example was only to show that around Glasgow by a handful of miles there are more than half a dozen professional teams playing in the top tiers in Scotland. That to me just seems too much. I suppose you could then turn it round to say Huntly, Cove Rangers and Inverurie Loco’s could all play professionally with the new Pyramid scheme, along with us and Peterheed. Now that to all of us up here would be ridiculous, but down there that’s the reality. But as has been mentioned, trying to get teams to amalgamate would never happen. I do like the idea of a 16 team league where we only play everyone twice, but I just think it would leave this glut in the middle who have nothing to play for. But then not having to play Kilmarnock 1 extra time wouldn’t be too bad.
  16. I like the 'coffee house' just off belmont street. It's great for lunch with the soup & sandwich deal for £7. They have gluten free cakes and bread as well, which makes it a winner with the other half. Plus the coffee is from McBeans, so it's usually pretty good! Smoking in pubs, very good, eejit.
  17. I was very surprised no-one else went after him when he was released by Milwall (I think it was). Fair enough it hadn't clicked for him down south, but up here he could still do a job, and he's only 31. It's hardly old. I still think Goodwille will benefit from another year at one club, rather than chopping an changing like he has done in recent years. Next year will hopefully see the best of him. I'd keep Anderson on next season, perhaps on a pay-as-you-play deal if he's happy with that. Or maybe in some kind of coaching role (although I think he wants to leave football once he hangs up his boots). He knows himself he can't demand top dollar, so having him for another season to keep the young guys heads screwed on would help. Similar to Robson in that respect.
  18. I think he did with the whole Bayern pinching his players affair. I'd be very surprised to see him wind up at Citeh when they are everything he hates. Plus they're just a souless club who look likely to pay well over the odds to keep themselves there (Chelsea have been at it longer and have Mou, Utd are still seen as the biggest from Europe looking in, and Arsenal have Wenger). I think he'll go to Italy. Benitez is away from Napoli at the end of the season. That could be a good fit. They seem to back their manager with money anyway.
  19. That's pretty much the nail on the head. Low's entire AFC career will be summed up that way. Even this season when Flood and Robson were both out, he was also injured himself, when you would guess he would have stepped up to the plate and made himself a first team regular. I reckon Dundee will be his club as well. Hartley's had him before at Alloa. He'll do well wherever he goes. One of the few young guns I'll be sorry to see go (well he's not tha tyoung anymore really).
  20. I quite like the way things are currently, and I can’t really say we’ve missed the 2 horse bigot brother race either. Teams like our self and Caley have benefitted from them not being around, and it’s allowed a team like Dundee to make themselves a main stay again (or they certainly look like they will be). I can see why the split is in place, as it makes it interesting and akin to the play-offs in America. Someone like Dundee would have been happy just to stay up well, but they had the bit between their teeth in their last few games by trying to get into the ‘best of the rest’ top half of the table. I don’t see what would make things better by increasing the league size, other than helping the other Cheek. We would have a mid-table slump in a bigger league, where teams would just be playing for the sake of playing at this point in the season, so really you’d need more playoffs again for Europe etc; albeit in a bigger league! Furthermore, a lot of teams are happy to bumble along as part-timers. It would be detrimental to a few teams to be promoted and made full-time, as they really can’t afford to make the jump and sustain it. 12 is a perfect number, and the new playoff into the championship is another good little addition, along with pyramiding from highland league and lowland. Some of the clubs in there are big enough to hold their own with the big boys, while others like I said above, are not. If anything, I think there should be less teams per city personally, but that’s far more unlikely. Fair enough Hibs and Hearts fill out their grounds when need be with around 20k each, but Dundee and Utd combined would certainly make for a better team. Dundee is a lot smaller than Aberdeen, yet they have 2 teams, madness! Same with half the motley crew down Glasgow way. Clyde/Partick/Morton/St Mirren even Dumbarton etc, put them all together and you’d have a half decent fan base and club. Obviously that won’t happen and it would alienate the support, but less professional teams, rather than more, I think is the answer. We’re not the biggest of nations after all. Radical I know, but I think it would help.
  21. I see Jurgen is offski at the end of the season. It was only a matter of time before he left, but I'm surprised he's thrown in the towel this season. Surely after the dodgy start he'd want to prove something. That said, you can only take so much before you call it a day when your rivals keep pinching your top players, and all your top players want to go. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32317833
  22. They’ve fairly set that up to favour the unwashed haven’t they? First week we have Caley away who are the next best of the bunch, while they have the team they’ve gubbed near enough every time this season, in their 33rd game against them this season. Then should we get past united we have them at home where they only need a draw. If we do last that long to get something off them, our bogey team awaits away. Most likely I’m being paranoid, but it does look to be set up easier for them.
  23. I wish there was more to it, but unfortunatley it was due to me being an idiot Good to see Rico's aboard too!
  24. I can’t really disagree much with what Tubilay has said. I can see Shinnie coming in to replace Jack if, as I’m lead to believe, he’s off in the summer. Considine has done enough to show he can make that position his own, and granted next season domestically, he is pretty solid. AC also gives us added depth coming forward as we effectively attack with 3 CB’s at set pieces (if we can finally learn how to make ourselves a threat at them). I’d like to see Shankland given a run up-top maybe with Rooney as I can see us having the confidence next season to go out an dominate games, if we continue in the same vein as now. This could potentially result in being able to have 2 up top. Ideally another CB would be handy, as bar Reynolds, I think all of the other CB’s we’ve had at the club have been injured at some point this season. We could do with another Central mid who can really drive us forward like Robson in his pomp. That would really lift us into serious contenders next season as we’ve often went missing in some games in mid-field. McLean may yet be that man, and I reckon with a pre-season behind him we’ll get the best of him next season. Most importantly we need someone between the sticks who will make a huge difference to what we currently have. Brown and Clangers are decent cover, but neither have what it takes to help us take the next step. As Tubilay said, it will be interesting to see who we recruit in the way of quality and what intent we look to be showing next season. The guys he listed as goalkeepers to me seem out of our range (possibly Randolph excluded) but in order to progress and potentially challenge for the title, you have to pay for the quality. I think we’ll still have JL and SB as our goalkeepers next season and that will cost us. I hope I’m wrong. I don’t think we’re a million miles away from mounting a real title challenge next season, heck, we’re almost there this season. Some quality in the summer and you never know. Positively now, we’re always building on top of the squad compared to previous seasons squad re-builds.
  25. Hey Guys, Former Ab-Mad user, who’s signed on here due to continuous disasters which have made Ab-Mad unusable. I was a lurker on here in the early 00’s when this was about the only forum going around. My photos the same from Ab-Mad, which some might recognise, but I’ve changed my Moniker from _WHOOOOOOOSH_ to the above, after my joke of trying to replicate Archie McphersHUNS tag-line backfired drastically, and I was stuck with an incorrect and crappy name for years! I recognise a few Ab-Mad names on here which has made me sign up, so hopefully a few more of the good posters follow suit (Elionel_Jessi is about the only other name I can’t see on here to sign up, after the public decisions to leave). Other than that, I’m a red through and through and hope that this site can sate my daily hunger for Aberdeen Forum news (as I’ve been cold turkey from Mad for a while, and back to work and struggling!).
