Think the referee has expected a physical game and has decided to just try stamp down on everything when he doesn't need to. Actually, both teams are trying to play open attacking football. Been a few times where we're just crying out for someone on the edge of the box to smash home an attempted clearance. Draw probably fair at half-time.

The referee is ruining the game. Some of the free-kicks and bookings have been comical. Disagree on Aouchiche @OrlandoDon, I think he's played well. Jensen and Karlsson both having good games too.

Is the line-up not just the same as the one that spanked Dundee 4-0, bar Molloy for Gyamfi?
-
I dunno, I think Devlin might be RCB, as he prefers Milne in the middle so it'd be a left sided player on the right of defence otherwise. No Gyamfi is a blow. Type of game Aouchiche will either get swallowed up in, or be the star man.

A lot of calls from Raith Rovers fans to sack Barry Robson. Same issues as at Aberdeen it seems.

Dirthy Filthy Hun Scumbag Vermin (deceased) and Poundland tribute act

Nah, he was assistant head coach. Was just having a look there to see when we get the first crack at Miovski and co, didn't realise we have to wait until a home and away double header within five days in January. -

Steven Smith will be the second former Aberdeen player to manage Rangers when he takes charge this weekend. Played 20 times for Aberdeen, only on the winning side in six of them. And that's about all I know about his time at Pittodrie. As for Muscat. His Wikipedia page, under 'reputation', it's quite the rap sheet. -
Pretty sure it's Graham Potter's if he wants it, which from his comments yesterday he very much does. (He lives in Sweden having started his managerial career there). Thelin still has at least two, probably three, and potentially even four or five, more trophies in him at Aberdeen first.

JJ Bull's best work

I thought you did it deliberately as a joke

So angry that you're blaming poor Jimmy Thelin for it. Coincidentally, Sweden are bottom of their group, and if they fail to beat Kosovo tonight, then Thelin might be in international management before you know it. Steve Clarke said it was just about the three points so we're just towing the party line.

We're slowly getting closer to finding out what our strongest line-up is. Problem is, with Tobers injured and two games a week, we won't necessarily see it very often. For now, Knoester-Milne-Dorrington at the back is secure enough, Gyamfi and Devlin as the wing backs. Karlsson finally showing he's not the new Okkels, and Lazetic and Nisbet both massive upgrades on Yengi. I wonder if there's a way to get Karlsson-Nisbet-Lazetic all playing together. Biggest surprise has been Milanovic not quite cutting it yet. The midfield is still a nice problem to have due to the number of options. I like Clarkson, I always think we're better with Shinnie in it, but Armstrong has been far better than I thought he would be considering his lack of game time before coming here. Interesting that Clarkson has at times played further forward and out wide, because he's not the dynamic box-to-box Armstrong and Shinnie are - if only they were both five years younger (but if they were, they wouldn't be at Aberdeen). Clarkson is the new Jamie McGrath in that we know he's good but aren't sure where he fits in, especially in this new three-man defence formation. Aouchiche is another conundrum, and for all his critics I think Keskinen is one of the hardest workers in the team. Okay, maybe we aren't any closer knowing our best XI after all.

Aberdeen team will be Joe Lewis, Andrew Considine, Russell Anderson, Jonny Hayes, Kevin McNaughton, Derek Young, Lee Miller and Adam Rooney. November 14 I think.

I don't think we need to worry about a Hearts title win. They've played seven games and in three of them have needed a last minute winner. That says a lot of teams are capable of causing them problems and their run isn't sustainable. They were terrible against Hibs, and they've a tough run of fixtures now with four of their next seven games away from home (one being at Pittodrie) and Celtic visiting Tynecastle. Will be a couple of defeats in there at least.

Watching Karlsson today, I kept thinking he looked like someone but couldn't think who, until he scored the second goal and it all hit home. He looks like Percy from the Green Mile.

Could also be a 5-3-2 with Karlsson and Nisbet as the two men up top, and Devlin playing on the right of a three.

https://www.afc.co.uk/2025/10/04/transformational-project-aberdeen-fc-to-deliver-1-6-billion-economic-boost/ I wouldn't trust any of our councillors to find grass in a field, so wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Two things I did note though. The statement says they want Pittodrie to be a potential host of the women's World Cup in 2035. That would mean they would need to have assurances the stadium would be built in the next 10 years. And also, it would need to be a minimum 20,000 capacity, which likely means the ludicrous 16,000 stadium plan has been knocked on the head.

To think, in the English Premier League, the most clubs are allowed to charge away fans is £30.

I think he was injured. He took a dull one with about 10 minutes to do. Was skipping about the RD concourse afterwards.

The Scottish Cup winners v The Ukrainian Cup winners

Was definitely some coming from the main stand too. In fact, there was grumbles when Nilsen and Shinnie both appeared on the big screen waiting to come on. -
I would actually try start all the guys that played well on Thursday (Devlin, Milne and Lazetic in particular) because their confidence will be high, that'll spread throughout the team, and there's also a bit of momentum there. Can always replace tired legs at half-time. We also have an international break after this anyway, so most of the squad will have a few days off next week anyway.

Was at the game, with a horrendous view of the RDS side goal. Turned to look at the big tv screen and it was restricted view as well Anyway, from what I did see we played alright. The 3-4-3 / 5-2-3 has improved us. It allows Milne to play a sweeper role and leaves us less exposed, Knoester and Dorrington both take it in turns to dribble up the pitch which seems to spook players, and we're seeing more link-up between our two wide players and the wing backs. I thought a run of games might help us, and I'm looking forward to the Dundee game now. I was in the press conference afterwards. The Shakhtar manager came in, and without any questions just opened into a big long passionate rant about the war in Ukraine and about the flotilla going to Gaza. Was quite something. Jimmy Thelin is a throughly beautiful man though.
