  1. What's everyone's views on the club World Cup? Gonna be watching it? Think it's going to be shite? Think there's a future in it? Hope it crashes and burns? I don't think there's an clamour from fans to proclaim a world champion. I think PSG fans are happy enough to say they're the best in France & Europe, and proving they're better than some Brazilian team won't bother them. The World Cup is special because everyone can qualify for it. This is just another competition Aberdeen can forget about ever being in. And it's not the best 32 club teams in the world. It's not even the best European teams going. Hope, just for Infantino, it's a disaster.
  2. Reckon we'll still win it. That's the League Cup. Motherwell were also punished although their 800 reduction is suspended. You're allowed to do what you like in the Scottish Cup.
  3. ...like a new signing. Sorry. Was eating me up inside.
  4. Okkels wasn't a traditional winger like Morris - he wasn't going to skip by players and put in crosses. I don't recall him having much pace either. His game was to sit wide, exchange passes, track back when the left-back had gone forward, and play almost as an inside forward; arriving late into the box. He didn't really excel in the role, but it clearly was successful under Thelin in Sweden so has worked before. I think Thelin is looking for a similar type of player, and if Okkels' transfer fee wasn't so high he'd probably sign him long term. Besuijen is a similar player - he probably has more to his game than Okkels and has more experience of Scottish football. The only doubt over him is his injury record. If he can't prove his fitness he'll be gone in summer, but he was back training towards the end of the season so here's hoping pre-season goes his way and he could be like a... I'm not going say it.
  5. There probably is space for one more winger only if Besuijen is leaving. But he looked good before his injury and maybe Thelin's system suits him. I imagine he'll probably leave when his contract expires next summer anyway, but I'd give him a chance until at least January.
  6. img-4290-a93dz7fx_UWmwUV3t.mp4 Didn't film much post-match stuff as just wanted to put the phone away and drink it all in, but did film this.

  8. img-4277_5DtDwUvN.mp4 One of my own, pre-match.

  10. Former IFK Goteborg head coach Jens Berthel Askou appointed Motherwell manager. Fair play to them for the way they usually broaden the net for a new manager rather than go for the usual types (Robbie Nelson and Neil Lennon were heavily linked with it). This boy will have managed against Jimmy Thelin in Sweden.
  11. Seems a decent player, but don't think there's any interest at all from Aberdeen. Likely they've thrown our name into the article to increase the views.
  12. Still time for you to delete this.
  13. He has three years left on his contract. Would make sense to loan him to Aberdeen for a year then you'll get a better Miovski next season once Girona have sorted themselves out from the shit-show they were last season. Keskinen (who I think will really come alive next season), Milanovic and Miovski as our front three next season would be mouthwatering. Anyone have an email for Girona where I can submit this idea to?
  14. Not 100% sure and don't have any names either, but I believe Yengi has been signed in addition to another striker, so you may well get your wish.
  15. Looks like we're shaping the team up to be similar to Jimmy Thelin's Elfsborg, so wouldn't be concerned with how many goals this guy has, it's more about how much he can create - which is what we expect from Pape Gueye. Elfsborg's 2023 season (when they nearly won the title), their top scorer was a left winger called Jeppe Okkels, with 11 goals. Only two forwards featured in their top seven goal scorers that season. We're very much wanting Keskinen, Milanovic, Morris and Besuijen (or replacement) to be the main goal threat from open play I think. A lot of Nisbet's best performances last season were games he didn't score in. You know, it might be a set up that suits Sokler, as he was decent foil for Miovski, but isn't much of a goal scorer himself.
  16. Hearts are (or at least were) after him too. Here's some analysis someone did on him when he was linked to Hearts. It's long, but interesting. Agree with the Pape Gueye comparison from @OxfordDon
  17. I'll just post this in the BBC Gossip column.
  18. Worth a look. Would help the Scottish quota for Europe... In other news, appears we have signed a striker. Should be an announcement soonish.
  19. Not our choice, it's Uefa's. If we weren't involved in Nations League games, we were obliged to organise friendlies.
  20. Gyamfi Had a quick look at his stats and appears he also played RB, LW and RW last season, but was mainly a left-back. A good sign is that there are Schalke fans commenting on their club's announcement saying they wanted to see him given a chance there, with the suggestion being that we must have paid a good transfer fee as they rated him highly.
