  1. I think Tommy Wright was the unluckiest guy in an Aberdeen shirt yesterday. He should have had a goal yesterday but it just wont happen for him  :hammer:

I just think he is shite. Half decent player sticks that cross in the net and piss poor one misses the goal. Wright missed the ball!!

  2. Smith is probably our best player by a long way when he is fit but problem is he is never fit. I very much doubt he would be at Dons if he did not have problems with his fitness. I am still loath to see him being let go though and would like to see him being offered some sort of pay as you play deal.

  3. Think of the good times he brought last season

Which has been paid and thanked for. I also remember all the sitters he has missed and for those he should not be rewarded with a 3 year contract. He should be on his way to play for Peterhead with our best wishes.

  4. According to East Fife site game is in doubt.

    Aberdeen v East Fife

We have just spoken with Aberdeen FC who have informed us that although their pitch is fine the problem we now have is the approach roads to Pittodrie.

The situation will be monitored by Grampian Police and a decision will be made, hopefully by 9am tomorrow morning.  Safety of all supporters is paramount.

We will update our website as soon as we have more information in the morning.

Sadly my train is before 9 so will be on the way before the pitch inspection.

  5. We're still in with a good chance of qualifying for Europe next season, we've had some very good team performances over the past month or so, and Chris Crichton decides to write this bullshit after 1 poor performance?  Cunt.

I long for the day when all Aberdeen fans get right behind the team and the management and give their full backing.  Admittedly I'm probably kidding myself.

One poor performance? What about Hamilton and Alloa?

  6. Excellent post BB, yesterday gave ammo to the usual suspects, poor tactics over concerned with what they can do to us with no real thought about imposing our game on the match. Our 442 could and should be enough to deal with a team so low in the league. Though formations cannot be blamed for heartless performances which yesterday was certainly one.

The bit in bold is the thing that frustrates me the most and is clearly a fault in Calderwoods style of management and imo the main reason we will never win anything with him as a manager.

The other concern I have is that from what I have heard about Saturday the players put in the same shiftless and heartless performance that they put in against Hamilton and Alloa earlier in the month. There was no flu to use as an excuse this time and it looks more like to me that players are not getting motivated to play against these teams. This might be down to the attitude of the players but surely it is the job of the management team to get the players up for the games and this clearly is not happening all the time.

  7. Depends on the dynamic of the board. If its just a talking shop and the real control and power lies elsewhere then it won't make any difference having him there. If they genuinely formulate strategy and implement in line with rules and governance then it will be useful to have him there to balance up the influence of that cunt Bain.

From what has happened in the past it seems that its just a talking shop because when it comes to decisions Lex Gold just does what he wants or whatever Martin Bain and John Ried tell him to.

  8. I've had enough of dwelling on the Falkirk game so thought i'd change the subject!

Quite intrigued to see what team Jimmy puts out for this one, as we need a result but can see him dropping a few players after their no-show this weekend. Will Wright get an opportunity to start or is it too early?

Apart from putting Aluko back in the side who else can we bring in?

  9. I would also add Heikkenen to that list.

Nicholson was a completely different player to him but we have replaced him with a younger and potentially better player. I think we have had adequate replacements for most of the team that has been lost.

Not replaced Hart at right back either and would argue that as poor as Clark was he is still a better player than Duff.

  10. Only reason for making Diamond Captain that I can see is that it would give us extra levarage on getting the fee up when we eventually sell him. Do not think there is any other reason as can still lose the heid a bit to easily for my liking.

  11. If the question is why do we not want any of our players to leave then I would suggest that you have to consider the fear that most Aberdeen fans have that they will not be replaced by a better version or at all in some circumstances.

I am not suggesting that the other elements to the discussion you have put out are invalid but this for me is a very real part of it. When someone posts up 'Seve leaving...' my immediate thoughts are 'we can cope wth that' for the reasons that have been discussed already. However, it is immediately followed by thoughts of 'as long as we use his wage to get someone else in and do the job as well if not better'. All too often I am left fearing we won't, despite sometimes being proved wrong.

Agreed Ajja. It is not so much the players leaving that bothers me (fact of life for a club of our size) its the worry of if they will be replaced by a player of equal or better quality.

  12. A bit dissapointed by this, as have been impressed by him on several occasions at Peterhead. Perhaps best for all parties, though, as he was always going to struggle to get a chance at Aberdeen. Good defender with a cracking left foot, maybe lacks a yard of pace for the SPL though.Good bit of business for Peterhead.

Neil McVitie, another ex-Don at Peterhead, is also doing very well now. I wasn't too impressed when I first saw him at Balmoor, but he has really done very well recently, and the Blue Toon tend to do well when he is playing. He really snaps into every tackle, and is the kind of player that every team needs as he gets stuck in, breaks play up etc. Again, he probbaly never would have made the breakthrough at AFC so glad to see him doing well for Peterhead.

Bagshaw I think is still on the transfer list at peterhead, but he has been playing a few games recently.

Seen Peterhead play with and without McVitie and they look like a far better team with him playing.
