  1. I thought he was quite thankful that he got put out on loan and got a decent run of football that was not forthcoming from Aberdeen. Not only that, but it was the previous manager's decision.
  2. Probably Mini-JC and the 14-15 non-fickle fans round him. Lets wait to here their analysis.
  3. Number of caps earnt by players playing for Aberdeen...
  4. Folly hasn't been in our top performers since early on this season. Even then his role is such that expectation is that he just needs to get stuck in and pick a simple pass. He is good at that, but when the team is not playing well it is easier to excel in that position than it is in a forward position when we are not playing well. In most games you'd criticise Maguire's performances, you could just as easily do it with Vernon, if you don't take in to account other factors. (p.s. I do think Folly has done well this year, but no more so than Maguire). Considine has done well at times considering he is being played out of position but other than yesterday where I thought he offered plenty as a full back, I cannot think of one other game this season where I thought anything more than he did alright considering he is playing out of position. Not a criticism as such... Hartely has done well as a captain and been influential in a playing sense in a few games. Still wouldn't have him near a player of the season so far. To me it comes down to Vernon and Maguire being our best performers by in large. They were both getting utilised poorly at the end of McGhee's tenure and it impacted their form. Vernon was so isolated it was ridiculous, because Aluko and Maguire were getting utilised as left and right midfielders, rather than wingers/forwards and were normally 30 yards behind play when the long ball was sent up to Vernon. It is difficult to win a ball, hold it up and pass it on when there is that distance to make it up.
  5. Young was decent enough, without really doing much. His tackle for they yellow he got looked pretty reckless and dangerous too... As for Maguire being poor first half, he did plenty good things and plenty bad things, but you will expect that from any forward. He was involved in pretty much everything, unlike Vernon in the first half. Again, throughout the second half he was involved in just about everything. Between him and Vernon we have one of the best partnerships we have had in a few years. Not to worry though, MiniJC and the people surrounding him all saw the real Maguire, while the bebo chants rang round the rest of the people who are obviously clueless about football compared to them.
  6. Passing good. Shooting looked decent. Liked to run with the ball. Touch was a bit off and he seemed to fall out of the game a wee bit more late on, but with more match time, it looks like he could be a coup. If he is good as he looked today, hope we sign him on extended terms asap...
  7. Agree with RDU. It was a comfortable win, with St. Mirren being limited to a few chances (still errors in that defence though, especially that Vuja backpass). First goal was excellent from McArdle's crossfield pass out of defence to Maguire, Maguire's control and cross and Vernon being in the right place. Second goal was almost identical. Impressed with Milsom, looks decent though obviously lacking competitive match time. Not scared to take a shot, which has been missing from our midfield. Passmarks all round, Maguire maybe edging man of the match over Vernon, Milsom and Considine who I thought was good on the left today. Blackman in for Magennis, Hartley in for Young and a natural left back in and that team could still do some very impressive things this season.
  8. In/Oot: In Prematcher: Da ken. Fine sandwich from Jewsters probably. Match: RDU. Postmacher: Don't know yet. Might depend on the mood. Prediction: 3-0 to us.
  9. Fitba at Strikers tonight...
  10. If his decision was to fuck off, I don't think he'd need to bluff. More likely Craig Brown and Willie Miller have spoken to him and made him realise it would probably be more beneficial to remain at Aberdeen for the time being rather than chase the money.
  11. Oh aye, it was common knowledge everywhere...
  12. Recognised the name, but no idea where from. Not much info going about on him, so looking forward to see him playing for the Dons. Welcome onboard!
  13. Won't be Clangers as I assume the 4 will not include a goalkeeper. I am thinking striker (100% definitely) and centreback would be the most likely areas we would be looking to offload. Which to me would suggest Diamond/Ifil and Paton/Maguire...
  14. Back of the EE is saying 4 in, 2 out... Story ain't up yet though.
  15. While I would not question Mackie's loyalty to Aberdeen, I do not understand how any logical person who goes to games would prefer him to Maguire. Mackie has proven time and time again that he cannot play football particularly well. Maguire on the other hand is an up and coming technically able player improving all the time. Ideally, I'd never see Mackie play for Aberdeen again. Maguire I'd like to see for a couple more seasons, but if not, it ain't the end of the world, I hope he does well wherever he goes (unless in the SPL) and we will move on to the next young striker coming through.
  16. 2-1 Blackpool though... King Kenny
  17. I don't think they go about signing those that openly slag off Rangers and "threaten" their players on social networking sites. I also don't think Rangers go about signing players who actively make a point who goad their fans whenever that player's team score against them. We aren't just talking a Celtic fan with Maguire, we are talking someone who is actively anti-Rangers... That is besides the point anyway. Rangers are looking for someone proven at scoring goals in the SPL. Over the last 18 months, Goodwillie has that, Maguire does not. Maguire offers other things that Goodwillie doesn't though, they aren't like for like.
  18. I have already put a link in this thread about Ledley. He was over 23 at the time, and that is the rule for cross border transfers. Maguire only turns 22 this month, so we will be entitled to compensation wherever he goes at that is a FIFA rule. As for the second point Maguire and Rangers. Really? Just think about that for a few seconds...
  19. My bad on McNaughton, I don't remember how it was reported at the time and given we chased for compensation (but ultimately failed as he went outside of Scotland) would suggest otherwise. I assume it was common knowledge on the internet though... So you'd be happier if Maguire came out and said he was happy here, but still wasn't signing a new deal?
  20. On the first point, the club have tried to tie them down on new contracts and they have rejected them as they want to move on. Kyle was stripped of his captaincy for reasons other than not signing the contract as was well documented at the time. Did you take such issue with McNaughton?
  21. Conway and Gomis are both out of contract at the end of the season, and when fit play every game for United. Kevin Kyle played plenty for Killie at the tail end of last year. We have done it umpteen times with various players. Stop talking shite about other teams in the league not accepting this. Personally, I think it would be best for his development if he stayed here for another year or 2 then move, and Miller should sell it as that. The main thing though, is if Maguire wants to go, Brown should be allowed to pick him if he wants for the remainder of the season. To think otherwise is idiotic...
