  1. This thread makes me want to smash my monitor with my keyboard.
  2. As I stated Dodds scored 25 in 45 or 46 games. He was a goal scoring machine for united. I still think the money we paid must have had united laughing. Winters although not the worst was no better and I would say slightly worse than Dodds. Pepper was an abomination. Here for roughly 2 years and played 14 or 15 games. The actual money paid for him was a joke but still not as bad as the winters deal in my eyes. The board actually sanctioning that deal was criminal as well. Dow was a cult hero due to the fact that everyone around him was even worse than he was and that is saying something. Hignett should have been different class what with the wages he was getting. Would actually have been good to get a full season out of him to be able to make a real judgement on him.
  3. 8th of december 1998. The day the fuckwit quit. Good call BobbyBiscuit. Millers whole transfer policy seemed to be "he looks okay. Right sell him for fuck all and buy someone who is so fucking shit they would struggle to get a game for Cove Rangers."
  4. Fuck Alex Miller and the fucking horse he rode in on. Anything he touched turned to absolute shit for us. I hate the man. With a passion. Billy Dodds AND £700,000 for Robbie winters still ranks as one of the worst transfers in the history of world football. Dodds scored 25 goals in 45 for ushited before being flogged to the huns for 1.3 million. Winters was piss compared to him and everyone except for Alex "cunt face" Miller could see that as well. That was transfer was deliberate and was fucking woeful.
  5. I do agree with him on one point and that is the recent outburst on the official site was cringeworthy and ill advised and will result in a financial penalty that we can ill afford. Perhaps if this was done at an earlier stage like the mulgrew-cunt face hun prick incident at ibrox I could have understood it but I did not think there was anything wrong with the two red cards given out. Maguires would have been a yellow anyway which would have resulted him being sent off anyway. As baggy89 observes though how Miller can be held responsible for debt that was run up prior to his arrival in an official capacity is a strange one. He also says that the club has gone backwards in the last 18 months but this is partly due to the cost cutting measures being imposed to try and reduce the debt. It is also a strange time to be printing this two weeks after the event that is being written about. All in all it looks to me like an article written as it is a slow news day old firm wise.
  6. Exactly like Dundee. I am glad I was too lazy to venture down. Worst thing about the dundee defeat was that our stock in the cups had fallen so low no hun, tim or arab that I work with even took the piss about it. No Mcghee is not being given any slack. It is his job to motivate the players and have them play the way he wants to.
  7. I care not if Calderwood was unable to get us to a cup final Mcghees targets should be to win us a cup not get to the final. In saying that not getting to a cup final I can accept if we are defeated by either side of the Old Firm or by a narrow margin by another SPL side. Being humiliated by lower league and SPL teams in the cups I cannot.
  8. 5th or 6th. I still think the tabke will look pretty much as it is now with regards to the top six. Hibs have spent a bit of money in the transfer market this season and seem to have bought quite wisely so I think this will see them finish 3rd comfortably. Dundee United also have a good core of a squad so if they can stay injury free for most of the season then they will finish fourth. I think 5th will either be hearts if mad vlad spends in the winter window or motherwell as they are playing well just now which may be a struggle for Gannon. We on the other hand are not playing well and have no money to spend and our squad really is paper thin so any injuries brings the likes of Derek Young into contention which can only be a bad thing. Luckily for us most of the teams below us are even worse off financially and have even thinner squads.
  9. I have no idea if we are better off with tommy wright as I have hardly seen him play due to him being forever injured. How much goals has Kyle scored in comparison to our strikers this year?
  10. Touchy subject this one. I see no problem if they start at a younger level like Pawlett is as this shows they do wish to play for Scotland IMO. However if they decide they wish to play for us at senior level based on the fact that they are not good enough to play for the nation of their birth then they should be told to take a long walk off of a short pier.
  11. As dave_min says we should have the beating of St Johnstone today. They are a newly promoted team and desoite us being poor we should be able to defeat those. Unfortunately I am not confident. St Johnstone have been playing well and from what I have seen this season Kerr, Miller and McDonald have yet to reach anything approaching an interest yet alone form. If these three senior players do not show up again then we may struggle with Fyvie out and Pawlett looking doubtful as well. It's a bit of a joke that three youngsters are carrying our team and about time the older players stepped up to the plate for want of a better phrase. This game would be the perfect time for them to do just that.
  12. As someone who has seen peterhead play on a few occasions I can confirm that some of these players have not found the level they should be playing at. Many could go on to star with such luminaries as The Broch or Cove in the highland league such is their outstanding lack of ability on the football field. John Stewart has found his level though after many a year of searching.
  13. As all have said his set pieces will be a loss. Having seen some of Alukos free kicks in the under 20s world cup I would very much doubt he would be the answer. However if we cannot get in another player that is better than mulgrew in regards to his defending then we really need to take a long hard look at the state of scottish football in general as he is pretty woeful in that respect. In my opinion he would be a loss but not an irreplaceable one. It may even make some one else step up and start being a goal threat. I doubt it though.
  14. From the daily record: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/aberdeen/2009/08/24/aberdeen-boss-mark-mcghee-explains-decision-to-axe-dons-coach-jim-leighton-86908-21621354/ Seems nothing more in it than Mcghee seeking value for money and, in my eyes at least, he has done the right thing. With our club running on a strict budget then doing everything to maximise the money available should be applauded.
  15. Just started reading D-Day by Anthony Beevor. If it is as good as Stalingrad and Berlin then it will be a cracking read. Recently finished D-Day: Piercing the atlantic wall by Robert Kershaw. An excellent book. Also read Join Me by Danny Wallace. Not very challenging but an enjoyable read non the less.
  16. Indeed he may have or Langfield may have just become older and wiser? I do not know. The point I was trying to make is that if this is simply a case of the man in charge believing he can get someone in that will do a better job than leighton then I see no real problem with his "sacking." I am in no way saying leighton is a poor coach but if there are better available and would be willing to come to our club then we should get them. Nostalgia over his playing career for the club should not cloud the judgement on his coaching abilities. If he is deemed surplus to requirements then so be it.
  17. That does look a nice facility. I never realised that there was so much stuff in it.
  18. Also received said text message. Would like to know if there is any truth to the rumour. If there is no truth and this was simply a case of Mark Mcghee believing he can get a better coach in then I support the decision.
  19. Incorrect in my opinion. Calderwood left us in a half decent state. Europe for a start and also a half decent side. He came and stopped us being a laughing stock, except from the cups. However as always a new manager needs to get his ideas across and Mcghee needs to be given time. I just think grahame spiers is a prick who seems slightly upset that someone who would have given him good copy about the glasgow teams has now left.
  20. When have we had a long term plan? This would be the first one in a long time.
  21. How about Stevie Nicol? New face, new ideas and all that.
  22. Mark McGhee is a carbon copy of Jimmy Calderwood. There would be no improvement under McGhee so there is no point in him becoming manager or sacking caderwood and giving him a large payoff and I wanted Calderwood out. I would thank him for the stability he has brought to the club but do feel that it was time for a change. I would prefer a new face maybe someone like Stevie Nicol who has been in America for a good few years and may bring a fresh, new and exciting outlook with different ideas for training etc. If Jim Jeffries gets the job I'm going to smash my own face in in despair.
  23. We'll just say that great minds think alike then.
  24. Boo you've just copied what I said about five posts up. Copycat.
  25. This was in four four two's football rich list a while ago. It said then that he had lost 310 million british pounds taking him down to 90 million british pounds. I would tend to trust 442 and the bbc more than I would the NOTW with its joke standard of journalism. Due to his wealth being tied up in the Stewart Milne Group it is not hard to believe that he will be severley hit by the credit crunch. No one is buying property therefore the value of the stock he owns in said group will plummet. Add to this fact that he will have houses built that he cannot sell making his profit margins slimmer which will also affect the stocks in his group. Of course I'm sure he'll struggle by and come out the other end.
