  1. ;D Good stuff. I reckon Miller might be quite good this season, after having a full pre-season's training behind him.
  2. Or for cunting Dunfermline wanking Athletic.
  3. I'll need this to collect the balls from all the goals i'm going to ship too easily now that Anderson's gone from in front of me...
  4. My thoughts exactly. Heard JC on the news saying he gets on well with Mackie and Hart, he's a lively character for the dressing room and, wait for this one, he's got good footballing ability that means he can play in a number of positions. For the love of fuck. Surely the ability's the first thing he should be looking at, not whether he'll have a laugh with Mackie and Hart?! This makes the farce over Lapira even more annoying. I'd rather have had a punt at a 21 year old ROI full international that might not end up being good, over a 27 year old that we know is pish. Of course, he's one of these gallus weegie types that JC likes so much, and he also played for Dunfermline. That network of contacts fair came up trumps for us once again.
  5. Didn't listen to the story to hear what happened, but it doesn't surprise me. Egyptian drivers are mental. They don't seem to have much idea of the concept of lanes in a road, either use side lights or full beam at all times of night (regardless of traffic coming the other way), rarely indicate, overtake blindly, and announce their presence by using their horn as they're halfway past the vehicle they're passing. It's frightening. We were thinking about hiring a car when we were on holiday there earlier this month, but 2 trips on a bus frightened that idea out of our heads. One of the tour reps said Egyptians literally buy a licence, then learn as they go. Glad Smith and Hart are unhurt.
  6. Two defeats, some bizarre tactical choices, players unable to train properly due to heat... Still, at least it was cheaper than playing Ajax in Aberdeen.
  7. It is.. somewhat of a favourite up here i understand See hwo he can get on in his irst season as manager, here hoping he can get us back up. Cheers for the replies guys, and good luck next season. If his determination as a player rubs off on his team as a manager, you're going up with games to spare. Good luck yourself.
  8. But why would they need one of those?! I thought they'd signed Malkowski.......
  9. It didn't look too bad to me. Maybe a wee bit on the long side, but i think it'd be a bit churlish to suggest it was performance-affecting. He did miss a good chance in the first minute, where the ball looked like it bobbled just before he struck it. Maybe that's what he's moaning about.
  10. Rab Douglas. You nearly had me there. Seriously though, is Filan the boy that was at Wigan last season? He's got a fair whack of experience and doesn't seem to be a bad keeper. Looks to be quite a dominating presence as well, which is something i think we'll lack without Anderson.
  11. He cost us a few, but not an awful lot. I can think of the Caley game for definite, the game v Hibs U19s if i'm being a bit uncharitable and Hearts when we drew 1-1 (what kind of a save attempt was that?!). Some other games, he's let in some bad goals and been quite shaky, but so far, we've been lucky enough to get away with a lot of them. I prefer him to Souter, but making me choose between the 2 is akin to asking if i want my bollocks or my cock chopped off, to be honest.
  12. We dominated without actually doing an awful lot. Don't think Langfield actually had a save to make. Crowd was decent, without being huge. Reckon 1500-2000, but i'm shite at that kind of guesswork. Correct, you are pish at your guess work. 3000 crowd (official) So a good 20K in Paul Lambertons pooch. 3000? I'm worse than i thought! I was stood in the far corner to be fair (not making a poor excuse or anything.....), so couldn't see how many folk were under the standing stand. Probably about a thousand, i'd say.
  13. I'm struggling to see how Langfield can possibly continue playing for us. He's all but admitted he wanted to leave and go to Ibrox. Any support he had from the fans would be even more diluted after that type of outburst. Imagine he plays against the huns, has one of his "eccentric" moments, and drops one in...
  14. We dominated without actually doing an awful lot. Don't think Langfield actually had a save to make. Crowd was decent, without being huge. Reckon 1500-2000, but i'm shite at that kind of guesswork.
  15. Being just back from Egypt, i can safely say there's no way on earth people should be playing football in that heat. We could barely sit out in it, let alone do anything. 46 degrees it hit one day! Coolest it got was 28 when we landed back at Hurghada airport after a day trip to Cairo, and that was at 11 pm...
  16. Exactly. On a more positive note, i saw the TV ad for the first time last night. Much better than the last one we had ("Join the Red Army" anyone...?. Finally the commercial department are doing something almost right. Surely they (the club, not the marketing team...) wouldn't fuck it up by letting our captain go now, when they seem to be making an effort to get fans in for once. Of course, that sort of positive thinking wouldn't suit the journals' negative agenda...
  17. See, that's what i thought as well. Then 2 weeks later, he's abusing Jimmy in the pub for knocking back the huns' offer. I doubt we'll ever know what went on.
  18. Think he signed a new deal at Norwich not long ago. To play as centre half...
  19. It's in the Star today (so obviously, it's the truth...), that Boro want Anderson, and will pay us a million for him. So far, so much the same as usual. However, they want him for right back(!), and he's not even going to consider moving under those circumstances.
  20. Why was he only on loan at Falkirk then? Because of him being too young to be in ahead of Sweden's current number 1 and a former England U21 keeper? I think he's played more first team games already than Langfield had before we signed him. IIRC Langfield made his 50th career first team appearance in the season we signed him. Considering he'd have been about 25/26 then and been at Dundee, Raith, Partick and Dunfermline, that's not very good. I'm not sure if young Kasper could be anything more than "promising" just now though. Lacks the experience i'd prefer a keeper to have. Neil Alexander all the way for me.
  21. Think he was playing wide right for the reserves, but wanted to play up front (where he's been knocking them in for Scotland U19s). Don't know for sure though.
  22. Having had time to reflect on all that has been said in the papers, I've got a sneaking suspicion that you may well be right. Would certainly of made for an interesting evening on Sat if JC had been invited and attended See I bet JC was invited, but I'm thinking he maybe just stayed in Majorca. Incidentally I saw in the P&J announcements that Dazza was married last Saturday (2nd). He obviously had a much quieter and well behaved stag night! He got home a couple of weeks ago. My girlfriend's brother saw him at Aberdeen airport and thought to himself "Jesus, that coloured chap looks just like Jimmy Calderwood...Hang on! That is Jimmy Calderwood!"
  23. Neil Alexander, i'd forgotten about him. He'd do a decent job i reckon. I think Neil Sullivan's also been freed, but he's probably well past his best now. I heard a story somewhere that Feyenoord were looking at signing Dorus De Vries as he's on a Bosman. TBH I don't know enough about him to say yay or nay, but purely going by his howler that ultimately sent Dunfermline down, i'd have to say nay. However, if you're pish, you don't interest a team like Feyenoord. Bryn Halliwell always got raved about when he was at Clyde, but i doubt he'd be the kind of step onwards we'd want/need. Who's Dundee's reserve keeper just now? You think he'd want to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors Soutar and Langfield..?
  24. You in Aberdeen? I think the Evening Express shop on Union Street might be your friend. If not, i really couldn't tell you.
  25. Think Bullock's gone to Ross County, but i couldn't find myself excited by someone who couldn't get a game for St Mirren or United... Lambers i'm not sure about. Did he not start a game up here against us, then go off injured? Giant of a man, but a bit dodgy IIRC. Although, if he was injured that'd explain a lot. Crossley's got the experience, and he had some absolutely immense games for Fulham last season. But they were more the exception to the norm i think. Burch of Spurs interests me, but i wonder if he's maybe a bit young. Don't really know anything about him though. Fabien Barthez anyone?! If we don't ask, we'll never know. And after all, if it's a bit of excitement we want in games, surely he's the man to provide it. Maybe not for the right reasons though.
