Thanks for the link, Drew. I'll see about grabbing a few of these and doctoring them for this site.
  2. Instead of utilising the normal Scottish managerial merrygoround ... how about the English one? Surely someone like Venables or ... dare I say ... Redknapp might fit the bill. Venables would make us the media-darlings of the world!
  3. If JC were to be offered the Derby job ... or even the Scotland job ... and he left ... Who would be your ideal choice of replacement (serious ideas ... ie nae Mourinho!)
  4. JC already does this. He chucks 22 names into a hat and picks them out randomly. Thats how he picks his team for each week. It just so happens that, whether he picks number 1, 17, 22 or a bit of fluff out first ... the first name out of the hat is ALWAYS Chris Clark.
  5. Whats the point in advertising to home fans in the hope that a few thousand may come along to watch Atletico play the weakest side in the group? Why do that, when Atletico can advertise this to the 2000+ surplus opposition fans who are GUARANTEED to be in Madrid for the match, and are all without a ticket. Seems common sense from a money-making point of view, tbh!
  6. New Zealand. Does that make a single bit of difference when a number of regulars on DT used to go to the youth matches and brag about his ability? I haven't seen him with my own eyes, but the wonder that is the internet allows people on the other side of the world to see, hear and read about things that happen in and around Aberdeen.
  7. Just listened to JC's post-match summary. He's basically saying the team's performance against Celtic has made his selection choices for the Madrid game "very easy" as he is now looking at chucking a stack of first-choice players onto the bench and into the stand. Fuckin hope so! Give the likes of Aluko, Maguire and JDV a start against a team who will, without a doubt, be our best opposition this season. They'll love it, facing quality players and hopefully learning a thing or two from playing against them. Half our first-team doesn't deserve to play in Spain. I just hope JC sticks by his words. With luck, we won't see players like Clark getting a look-in to this game. Infact, just gie him a "Look In" magazine and chuck him in the stands. That'd be best for all concerned.
  8. We drastically need to STOP wasting our time and money with these has-beens such as McNamanamanamanamanamana, Brewster, Crawford, etc. We must start ploughing money into our youth system. Look at the Hibs youth system. It has basically brought them out of the red and they are now one of the few Scottish sides running in the black! And very much in the black too! Why? because they are nurturing their own talent, and then selling them for a fortune. When was the last player to come through our ranks with the smallest bit of talent? Bagshaw! And what did we do with him? Released him!
  9. By jove I think I've fixed it
  10. I think it's sorted now. Won't know until the next multi-quoted reply
  11. 1. Jagerdeen 2. Busy Bilbo Baggins 3. Glasgow Sheep - glasvegas 4. B. Biscuit Esq. 5. Monkey. 6. Drew Peacock 7. Reekie - huntin down the game on ESPN. But will give up cos it'll be like 5am where I am.
  12. Nobody rates Mackie! But he still gets offered new contracts!!!!
  13. I suppose Id better introduce masel ... just incase naebiddy kens who I am. I'm Reekie. I'm one of the gaffers here. Been doin this forum runnin malarky since the days of The Granite Sheep (that's eight years ago now!). I was born in Aberdeen, had my first few years in Hopeman. Then in Elgin. Then Bucksburn. Then my family moved to Stoney when I was 5. Lived there til I was old enough to escape, and buggered aff to HIVLand (Edinburgh) for eight years. Then moved across tae New Zealand where I am now with my wife and sprog. Favourite red of all time? Probably Neil Simpson. Favourite red I can remember wi my own eyes? Probably Eion Jess. Favourite current red? Ooh, spoilt for choice. Seriously, I cannae pick a standout from the lot of them!!
  14. I'll see fit I can do, min. Cannae promise anything.
  15. Big Dunc spent most of his time trying to wake "Pele" Paterson from his drunken slumber. I think it might be a good idea to offload Lovell. Perhaps as an exchange. I'm sure Superkev would look after him in Cardiff. But somethings got to be done to inject some life into our strikeforce. There's clearly fuckall inspiration coming from the midfield. So we need strikers who are gonna create something. We need strikers who are gonna take pot-shots from outside AND inside the box. Basically we need a fit-again Jamie Smith.
  16. Apparently Dan Smith's hidden talent is he can play football. But nobody has ever been able to verify this rumour.
  17. Why? Why doesn't JC stick with the guys who are doing the business for him? Why is it so difficult to put Clark on the bench? Why is it so difficult to leave Seve out for a match? They proved against United that the back-up boys are ready and willing to step up to the plate when needed. Now the guys who they replaced should be FORCED to work their way into contention. JC, you need to start reading these forums!!!
  18. True true. Oshor Williams always swore that David Zdrillic was easily the best striker of the ball he'd seen in his career. I've got too many fingers on one hand to count the number of opportunities he stuck away.
  19. But we have Lovell and Miller onboard. Two PROVEN strikers with natural ability!!! What's gone on with them since they arrived here? They've both gone downhill!!! As for the goalkeeping thing, I beg to differ. Look how Esson and Preece developed under Leighton. When Preece arrived, we were cursing the wasted funds. When he left, we were cursing the Dons management for letting him go! I ain't making any excuses for Souter, cos there's no point in trying to develop goalkeeping skills in someone who just ain't a goalkeeper. But there's no doubt that Langfield is benefitting from Big Jim's training. If we had a competent striking coach, I'm sure our strikers would benefit too! I refer to Celtic in the time that Lubo Moravcik was playing for them. He spent a bit of time every day helping train the young Celtic players how to take free-kicks. Look at how Shaun Maloney developed as a direct result of Lubo's training! Grab a look on youTube for videos of Duncan Shearer goals. Every time he strikes the ball, it goes towards the goal. Whether he scores or not is purely down to the skill-level of the opposition goalkeeper. Having someone on board like him would help develop our strikers to realise how/where to hit a ball to get maximum gain out of your opportunity. Shearer always struck him opportunities like they were the only one he'd get during the game. Our current crop of strikers miss with the understanding that another chance will come along soon. It doesn't alway work out that way, though ... especially with our midfield!!!
  20. Firstly, I don't know about the Gow rumour. But the Thompson rumour isn't coming from the EE. It's coming from Cardiff City fans. The EE are running a couple of days behind in this rumour, so I reckon they've thrown the Gow rumour in there to sound like they're still on the ball with getting the rumours out first. As for Lovell, I too think he'll come back to haunt us. I'd love to see a Lovell/Miller partnership tried for a month-long period, just to see if they click. They are two very talented players ... especially Lovell. When partnered with a striker of the quality of Fabian Caballero, he was awesome and there were very few chances that came his way that he DIDN'T tuck away. His problem is he's currently being given about 9 minutes per game to make a difference. Even then, he's normally teaming up with Darren Mackie, a striker who prefers to work alone or be on the receiving end of quality service. Let's face it, Mackie ain't the sort of player who's gonna be setting up chances for Lovell. If we're gonna let Lovell go, which we will cos he's clearly nae doing anything for us, then we MUST NOT let him go to another Scottish club. I think he'd take a move back to England firmly with both hands. Time to tout him to the championship sides? Surely Cardiff might be keen on someone like Lovell who would thrive in the slower English game??!!
  21. Haha! Quality comment, min! But I hear what vanderark is saying. We keep nabbing players who have the ability and the reputation. But when they get here, they turn to shite. Lovell, Miller, Winters ... infact I'm tryin to remember the last decent strike partnership we had. Do I really need to think back to the days of Dodds and Windass? That was like 10 years ago!!! Something seriously wrong with our ability to develop strikers ... even strikers who already have the skills there! Employ a dedicated striking coach, maybe? What's Duncan Shearer up to these days?
  22. Just read on the Cardiff City rivals site that JC's lining up a move for ex-Hun Steve Thompson in January. He's a fans favourite at Cardiff, but injury problems have kept his progress to a minimum. I would doubt this move. What is it with us and players that have a history of injuries? Mind you ... ALL Huns and ex-huns have injury problems as long as their arms. Cardiff have transfer-listed Thompson, so I reckon it could be the perfect opportunity to offload someone like Miller or Lovell. Can't be arsed with Miller. Lovell I've got a lot of time for, but he's just not producing the goods for us this season! Would Thompson be any better?
  23. Well, not really Sneckie. You know what he was like for windups. A bit like Tommy Cooper keelin over on-stage. Nobody knew whether to laugh or gasp!
