  1. Nae saying I want him back here. Just I've heard that he WILL be back here. If a talent like Lovell cannae produce the goods for us, I cannae imagine an average striker like Wyness will do half as well. But we need a striker who can do the job. We need to spend BIG to get a decent man in. Cos let's face it, we've not really had a QUALITY striker since Dodds left for United. Sure, Stavrum scored a heap of goals for us. But most of them came off his arse, knee, shin, back of his head. Doddsy knew exactly where each and every strike was going. And he could create a top-notch goal all on his own. We need to think BIG for our next striker
  2. Mate, most people skinned us at our infamous Stoney Leisure Centre 5's. But Duncan certainly didnae seem too good a talent at Mackie compared to what I remember seeing. Every weekend I used to sit peerin oot of one of the upstairs windows of my house which looked onto Caronhill School grounds. Duncan, his brother, the two Russos and a few others would play footy there every single waking hour. Whenever there was a ball on that field, they'd be there. I'll give him this much credit, football was his absolute passion. But he most certainly wasn't the best talent amongst his group of friends ... and this was only a year or so before he got picked for Scotland Schoolboys.
  3. Not necessarily. I'm just going by what is doing the rounds on the rumour-mill at the moment. And currently, Wyness to Pittodrie is the latest one I've heard ... along with Lovell to Kilmarnock. Out of interest, I always thought Wyness was an up and coming striker. Didnae realise the focker was 31 years old!!! Shit! He's almost retired!!!!!
  4. Though Wyness has seemingly rejected a contract with ICT, hence why he was left out of the squad last week. Perhaps Pittodrie-bound?
  5. IIRC he actually captained Scotland that day too, did he not? Didn't he score?
  6. That prick Duncan and his mates used to steal strawberries fae my dad's garden every summer. Wee prick. He wasnae even the best footballer in his group of mates, nevermind the best talent in Stoney. There were MANY better talents than him in Stoney (Jamie Buchan excluded)... fuck knows how he managed to get into the SPL.

Nae sure. My auld man's 60th was last weekend. If I'd learned of the party earlier I would've been over for that. But my mum's 60th is coming up in 2009, so I might see how the spondoolies are for that. Helps that the in-law works for Air New Zealand.
  8. That's the thing about Lovell. We've all seen what he is capable of from his time at Dens Park. When he's on form and has the supply, he is a devastating striker. But he's never been given a fair crack of the whip!! I mean, he was the ONLY full-time Aberdeen player to score against Bayern Munich. What does he need to do to get into JC's good books? Change his name to Richie Byrne? Wear a Dunfermline top? I'd still easily have Lovell and Miller upfront than Mackie who, despite being given a start in just about every game he can make it to, is still an abysmal excuse for a footballer ... nevermind a striker!!!
  9. I am the lucky charm. Of the past 25 or 30 Dons matches I've seen, I think I've only seen 3 losses. One to Ra Shellick, one to Plastic Whistle (3-0????) and one to Hearts in a blizzard when Steve Paterson was our manager. I think all the rest were either wins or draws. But then, the copius amounts of OVD Rum may have blurred out the bad results.
  10. Absolute load of shite from JC. Our home form has been bloody good this season. Very few teams have come to Pittodrie this season and actually walked away with all points on offer. Of all the league, CIS Cup, Scottish Cup and UEFA matches Pittodrie has seen this season, Celtic have managed two victories, Motherwell and Hearts one apiece. Every other match has seen us either draw or win at home. Jimmy, it's not the home pitch that's the problem, it's the away form that your squad needs to sort out for next season. I count four away victories all season in all competitions. That's the reason why we're in the bottom six. No home pitch can be to blame for four away wins all season!!!!
  11. Must admit when I was still in Scotland, the 01/02 season was an awesome one. I hardly ever went to Pittodrie for the simple reason that it was the furthest ground from my house out of all the SPL grounds. Only really went there for Old Firm matches, and for "Danish Day" against Livvy. But the away matches were great fun. It was a whole day out to Dundee, Motherwell, Livvy, Glasgow or just wandering down the road to wherever in Edinburgh. It was great fun. But I really couldnae be fucked with the huge intricate journeys to Killie. What a shit-hole. What a shit stadium. And the Dons NEVER EVER put in a performance in Ayrshire. Must be the shiteness that is Ayrshire. But part of the entertainment was the fact that we were shit-hot on the road back then. The seasons following that were a nightmare ... to the point that we just couldnae be bothered going to any of the matches anymore. Saturdays were filled better just sitting in the boozer or just sitting watching Ceefax and listening to Sportsound.
  12. Whytes is nae bad in Dundee for a bit of the old "aye? get tae fuck ye Dundee mink" banter with the opposition fans. Do they still let away fans intae Whytes? But the past couple of times I've been in Dundee it's been the Centenary all the way. What a volume that place can generate!!! Especially when "when the moon hits yer eyes like a big pizza pie ... that's a mullet" gets sung. Some other places worthy (or not) of a mention include the Elizabethan in Dunfermline ... cos it's the only bar in Dunfermline that's within 25miles of the stadium. Bubbles in Livingston ... see reason given for Dunfermline. St Johnstone .... errr .... err .... help me on this one. I cannae seem to remember there ever being a bar within the vicinity of McDermaid Park (sp?).
  13. I said the same for Scott Michie and Andrew Bagshaw. Where are they now?
  14. Well, we all doubted we'd get 3rd place last season in the last few matches ... especially when we had to beat the Huns at the end. But as last season proves, anything is possible!!
  15. If that ball had gone into the net, that would've been a goal! Nevermind, this Celtic replay will surely be the one that gets our season back on the rails. It's a difficult game for the Dons on paper, but of course games are not played on paper. You just never know! Most games last 90 minutes, and I'm sure this one will be no different. The key to winning matches is putting the ball in the back of the net.
  16. Aye, it's the same timothys who had us all believe there were six inch nails in the snowballs we hurled at Petrov and Thompson. Greetin faced Timothys. Didn't they greet when Zdrillic scored against them too? ... and John Stewart???
  17. That's what I couldnae believe! Scotland had wonderful talents in Leighton and Goram. So what the hell happened to make Walker the 3rd choice Scotland keeper??? Easily the second-worst keeper I've ever seen play for the Dons ... after Tony Warner.
  18. Auld Peter Kjaer had a few top-drawer saves. I mind we played Livi at Almondvale in their first SPL season. David Fernandez bore down on goal with only Kjaer between him and the sticks. He shot at a strange angle and the ball was definitely goalbound, but somehow Kjaer managed to contort his body like a frigging high-jump champion to nudge the ball over the bar. Unbelievable save!!!
  19. At least he didnae greet in a huff like Scott Severin. And at least he didnae try to start fights with his fellow teammates like Stewart McKimmie.
  20. Well, for the thousands and thousands who are too young to remember Gothenburg first-hand, having a DVD of impressive draws against mighty teams like Dnipro and Bayern, not to mention comprehensively thrashing Danish champions FCK would be a quality addition to the AFC Shop merchandise. If anything, that's probably the biggest money-spinner that the Dons haven't latched onto yet: DVDs. We only need to look at the sheer volume of copies that were sold of the Stand Free DVD from five years ago to realise there is an apetite there for buying a bit of the club's history on video! Hell, even a season review would be bought by people like me who have lived away fae Scotland for so long and seen so few Dons matches as a result that we couldnae point to Andrew Considine if we tried!
  21. Is Kevin Stirling the ONLY AFC Historian?? What's gonna happen when he pops his clogs? Who's gonna be the point of call when it comes to naming the leftback in the second league meeting with Killie in 1998??
  22. I did! Admittedly this was asked when we started losing. But it was also asked before the MAJOR fallout match against Killie and Hibs.
  23. Aye I wid! But I like to be able to taste things a week afterwards. Wi' the bovril at Pittodrie, yer taste buds get singed off wi the temperature
  24. ... and there's our conundrum. I haven't really got a definite answer that I believe will fix the problems we have at the moment. Well, I do. It involves removing EVERYONE from Aberdeen football club ... board, management team, players, pie company ... and replacing them all. Unfortunately, that ain't gonna happen unless some rich billionnaire decides he likes AFC. But WTF does Miller do? Seriously??? It was all bells and whistles when his return to Pittodrie was announced. But there's not been a single peep since then. Now, the only other executive I can think of who stayed so quiet was FORMER Director of Football Keith Birkenshaw. And nae cunt could tell me what he did either! But I can tell you that, if the scouting is falling to pieces, we're selling our most valuable assets for less than half their value, we're losing top quality players for nowt when they are publically stating they WANT to stay with us (Nicholson and Lovell, ie), and still have no answer to the training ground question that he himself posed some six years ago, then he's clearly not doing something right. Shoot me down if you like. But it's just my observations on just what (if anything) the almighty Willie Miller actually does at the club.
  25. That's exactly what I asked about three weeks ago. WTF does Miller do? Yes he is the club's ultimate legend. But that doesn't necessarily mean he's automatically any good at doing anything else but being a world-class defender 25 years ago. I seem to remember it wasn't that long ago that he had multiple businesses in Aberdeen go into receivership. And now he's in-charge over the money we pay our most valuable assets? I think JC's time is up. But I think that is partially down to what has transpired down from WM and SM. What's WM proved in his time here?
