  1. Paton and A N Other. Paton needs an intelligent player who can hold the ball up and play into space. He needs a player with the intelligence of someone like Scott Booth or Craig Brewster to act as a foil
  2. Or the one I made up about Gabriel Batistuta signing for us.
  3. Johnny Cash - Sea Of Heartbreak
  4. Phil?
  5. I'd tend to agree with the notion that JC did steady the ship. Under Alex Miller, Heggarty, Skovdahl and Paterson, Aberdeen FC was gradually weakened and weakened and weakened as a whole. I'm of the belief that JC brought back stability, brought back an element of pride, and actually made clubs fear Aberdeen once again. There were times in the late 90s/early 2000s when some clubs loved playing Aberdeen as it was a surefire 3-points. Under JC, we became a lot tougher to beat and restored the idea of us being a "massive" club, as so many players seem to put it.
  6. True, but on those odd occasions when The Old Lady rocks, there's few stadiums quite like it!
  7. Cannae comment on Wilson as I've not seen him play. But Fleck has been pretty average, from what I've seen of him so far. Certainly not Premiership quality. In saying that though, I wouldn't put it past McLeish or Moyes to put a £multimillion bid in for both of them, rather than waiting six months and getting them for nowt. As for Miller & McDonald, the EE is only rephrasing what McGhee said months ago. We're not going to be held ransom on ANY player contract talks. If Miller and McDonald don't wanna take whatever offer is on the table, they can piss aff. It's not like they've both been invaluable to us this season anyway.
  8. What the hell could/would you do? Doesn't matter what you do, yer car's gonna slide away. Thank fuck I'm sitting in shorts and t-shirt on the other side of the world just now.
  9. A striker with an average-at-best strikerate at all his previous clubs, with Falkirk and Hearts being the only exceptions. If someone wants to pay a fee for him, then I'd be willing to let him go and give someone else a permanent gig upfront
  10. I cannae drink Stella. Dinnae ken if its the additives in it or what, but I get a stinkin hangover from that shit, no matter if I have 20 pints ... or half a pint. No other beer I have had has that effect on me
  11. Not like that, at least
  12. Not total fail, though! I did manage to get the old db back online again. Took half an hour to upload, cos there's about three years of posts on the database. That's something I would've failed in previous years.
  13. Oh well. I'd rather he sign for someone like Derby County than someone like Hearts or Hibs.
  14. Anyone who tried to access Donstalk over the past couple of hours would've found great difficulty in doing so. I attempted to transfer a new database across that I have tested and does not have the "Your last post was x seconds ago" fault. However, there appear to be lines other lines and values in the database that I hadn't accounted for, which caused major problems for the site stability and functionality. So, after much tinkering and pissing around with commas, fullstops and what not, I've opted to reverse the changes and revert back to the original datbase. I do apologise to anyone who was trying to access Donstalk over the past couple of hours. Things should be back to normal now, including my position at the drawing board
  15. Surely a year-and-a-bit without regular first-team action is not a problem for a player like Anderson. Remember in 2001, he came back against Ra Shellick after over a year out with a broken leg. Took him three games to get into the swing of things, and then we started seeing the real Anderson again. I'd love him back for sentimental, skill, ability, levelheadedness and leadership reasons ... not to mention a knack of knocking in the odd goal or three.
  16. Thing is, Miller knows he did a good job at Hearts. Hearts know he can do a good job. He's just not performed when with us. Any offer over $100k for the currently-under-performing Lee Miller, and I'd snap their hands off.
  17. I ain't a JMGer or a MMMGer. Indeed I thought we made huge improvements both on and off the field under Jimmy's guidance. But I still personally feel that, if we wanted to keep the momentum going and get above the "let's aim for 3rd and a cup-final" collective-motive each year, we should've moved for a new management team about two years ago. That's just my own gut feeling, as I know heaps of peeps who were happy with the team's offering last season - but I was not.
  18. I stand corrected
  19. Agree. I personally feel Calderwood & Nicholl's limitations were reached around this time in the 2007/08 season. They did a good job of keeping us in the top four each season, and did a wonderful job with the Euro ties against Dnipro, Copenhagen and Bayern. But I don't think they could've taken us any further. We should've looked for a new management team that could've taken us to the next level there and then, rather than renewing JC and JN's contracts. I believe the turn of 2007-2008 was Calderwood's real peak at the club.
  20. Jess, Stavrum and Anderson probably the only ones
  21. No place for Rougvie?! Hardest player this side of ... aaaaaah, me thinks you might be looking forward to the midfielder poll when Bisconti and Richardson are there.
  22. Agreed. This is why I chose not to include any of the players who played before 1990 ... otherwise, we'd just have the starting lineup from Gothenburg, plus Charlie Nicholas.
  23. I just quoted directly from Dons1903's post, so ye can blame that bocht ein, min!
  24. I knew he was at Peterhead and WAS a striker until Peterhead moved him into defence. Just wisnae too sure on his history pre-Peterhead.
