Do pubs not have to pay thousands a month, that can vary depending in the size, to be able to have sky sports? I always that was there main income with home subscribers just being a bonus?
  3. Is he a cunt? Always thought came across well. On another point no idea why Thompson didnt get the st mirren job?
  4. In Pit South Probably pit 6-0 I will probably be out in town after. This time I will try harder with the females.
  5. Would have paving over a victorian gardens have made Aberdeen a much better city? It's the dour attitude and the nouveau riche from the oil that bring the city down.
  6. Going down to the game on Friday. We will get our lead back no doubt. I really feel it. I have a shit job, Scotland voted no but by fuck I know Aberdeen will pull me through this year.
  7. I watched the Motherwell match until they scored. It's depressing just how routine is it though. I still think Aberdeen will win the league though.
  8. You should listen to the best country album ever made...
  9. What's wrong with the Rolling Stones? Also Springsteen has some good songs... And dire straits... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dqok5m4lqeE
  10. Why would you study religion when it is created by man? Does it not have as much basis as Scientology, Mormonism etc.? I don't understand why one should take Christianity more seriously than any of the former, especially when Christianity has taken vast swathes of ideas from previous beliefs people held. My main arguments against believing in a deity is the arrogance that we have been created and not just formed by chance. I like the idea that life is futile and pointless and that there is no real meaning. Even if there was a creator he must be an absolute bastard for the things to happen to us. How can some people believe in a god when such terrible things happen? Even if a creator did exist I would not want to worship or even be in their presence. I also don't really understand what your point about the offensive cartoons is. What is the answer to it? Yes, they may have been grossly offensive but do you want that to be illegal or a different alternative? I don't know enough about the cartoons or muslim life to make a judgement about how offensive they may or may not be but I do know that one should be allowed to publish anything they want. The problem when you start arguing against freedom of expression is what is the answer? A fine? Prison? The argument about if something is offensive and if something should be illegal are two vastly separate questions that a lot of people seem to forget. I often find your opinions a bit of an enigma. I am never really sure where you will stand on certain issues but am interested in your thought process non the less.

Was he a real person or just another Caroline_B?
  12. In the words that Voltaire is often wrongly attributed, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". Why should parochial, inward, backwards, discriminatory, sexist, homophobic beliefs be shielded from ridicule? These men weren't hiding behind there cartoons, they were open about their beliefs of freedom of speech and expression. To say otherwise is just untrue. Maybe you just envy the over the top and disproportionate response which often seems to be your method of choice on here and elsewhere.
  13. I don't think what I said was that bad. Posted a hell of a lot worse things after coming back from the pub. It's the whole mentality of Scottish football that is the problem though. The vast majority of the players seem to support one of the old firm and i don't think it can be good for a team or an individual. That image of the St Mirren players celebrating a Celtic goal before one of there games - it's just shows how embarrassingly parochial Scottish football is.
  14. Because I know he will never lay it off, he is a student and put way too much money on the bet and even at 10/1 there is a very good chance he will lost money he should just have kept. Gambling is bad though. Horrible horrible thing. I am pretty sure I haven't gambled in a good five months or so. I am doing well.
  15. Being a footballer isn't like a normal job. You get paid a hell of a lot to play for a team in an almost pantomime world. Why would you then go and then support your teams biggest rivals? It's embarrassing and it really just shouldn't be happening. How hard is it just to watch the game on tv? Add this up with the shite apology at Celtic park I think he should be shown the door. Football is a tribal game. If you can't even celebrate scoring against your own team or, at least, not go and see them when you have the day off then you should just fuck off.
  16. Pretty sure one of my good friends put on £50 on Aberdeen to win the title at 40/1. I still think he is very silly. But we should be expecting to win the league as half the fun of football is being optimistic. The OF dominance will have to end one day and atm it must be the best chance there has ever been. Very weak league without Rangers, Hearts and Hibs. Really we should be expecting to win every game bar those against Celtic and if we do that we will win the league.

I totally agree with what your saying. I have no problem with the police advising someone not to make silly remarks on twitter etc. The line is crossed when it becomes a criminal offence. Anyone should be allowed to express an opinion without the threat of being imprisoned, no matter how distasteful or in bad time it may be. This doesn't mean the police cannot advise individuals to behave differently but it would mean that your freedom of speech is protected.

The tweet was clearly a joke though. I am sure if your trawl through this forum you will find jokes about many repulsive stuff and a hell of a lot of necrophilia jokes. You can't compare this sort of thing with personal direct abuse towards something. They are one of two totally different things.
  19. Merry christmas. Hope everyone has a good one.

The thing is it's not about what's said at what time. The idea behind this is freedom of speech. There is a lot of things that I don't believe or I wish weren't said but I don't want it to be illegal to say them.

You really should not be arrested for anything bar blackmail or sustained direct threatening or harassing behavior. Anything else means that thoughts outside of the main sphere of thought will start becoming illegal.
  22. Or it could be that Celtic's turnover is in the region of 10 to 50 times the size of their competitors...
  23. But it really couldn't have happened to a more disgusting club. It's fantastic how in one fell swoop it fucked both the ugly cheeks. The longer Rangers are away from being a competitive force(which looks like it will be some time) the less enjoyment Celtic will have from romping the league every year. This whole situation is like a dream come true to fans who were around when Sutton, Flo, Ricksen. Hartson, etc. went around taking the piss at their stadiums. It couldn't have gone better. The OF irrelevant now on a global scale and Rangers convincingly losing to QofS and not that surprising with Celtic trying hard to compete with run of the mill European sides. Compared to the early 00s this is just fantastic. Celtic might win the league, they might even win the treble, but it will mean nothing to them. Winning tomorrow will mean more than anything Celtic can do this season. This is a fantastic time to be a Scottish football fan.
  24. What a great score to look at when coming back from a night out. Didn't even know they were playing but what a great way to end an ok night out.
