We know what we’ll get in this game - physicality, long balls, long throws, and general joot hoof ball pish. It works for them though, so can we counter it? Based on experience so far - hmmm…

So I think its fair to say we’re pretty much all on the fence with Thelin currently. I agree with most comments made above. We have not progressed at all in his time. At best we’ve flatlined. None of us have any idea what he’s trying to do. There is no identity and style to this team. Too many square pegs in round holes. Jensen is a prime example, he’s an absolute liability at LWB, offers nothing and is a complete bottleneck, yet when he switched to RWB yesterday he was so much better and more effective. That’s on Thelin, not Jensen. Trouble is we need to be developing young Lobban in there so there’s not really a place for Jensen. The inverted wingers has just not worked, end of. He’ll stick with it regardless though which for me is a massive red flag. The boy at Motherwell is a really bad look for JT. He’s offering everything in terms of identity, playing style and maximising player potential that JT simply is not - on an absolute pittance of a budget. While loyalty is an admirable thing, I can’t help thinking Dave’s commitment to JT is as much driven by his desire to not be seen as having appointed another dud as any genuine belief in his talents. The recruitment has been a disaster last couple of windows. We’ve downgraded all over the place. Painful as it is to say, the diets this summer have been a really bad look for us on that front. How much this is on Thelin is debatable of course. Lets see what the penguin pincher brings to the party on that front. Mowbray being back, given his track record doesn’t hurt either. Agree January is massive, both for recruitment and playing style as well as results. At the moment I’m far from confident we’ll see the desired progress though…

Dundee Utd home, Hibs & Falkirk away. Not a cat in hells chance that mob & that manager the way he sets up are taking 9 points from those 3 games. Absolutely none...
-
Indeed. Plus he didn’t bother to give himself an excuse for Thursday by just playing the duds (how bad must they be to be behind this starting lot ffs). So halfway through the “3 year project” where does everyone think we are? Well, we’re nae getting a new Project Manager anytime soon, so I think Lutz needs to get a variation order in ASAP, to redesign shape, tactics, formation, attitude….. oh, and squad. Hope Dave has a decent contingency budget tucked away linked to his project - cause he’s gonna fuckin need it…
-
I’m sure we’ll be told in the post match rehash of the usual word salad that “we’ll learn from this” ** ** I absolutely guarantee we won’t…

Not wasting much time on this shower of losers tonight. Pass marks for Kjartennson and Bilalovic. What did they offer? Size and physicality. Just what was needed all fucking day. The rest can do one - especially the manager. And so the most embarrassing mismatch and set of results in Scottish football continues. This shitshow, given the circumstances, was pretty special though. Whole lot of you, just GTF…
-
We haven’t got the players with the physicality and desire to do that though. Shower of absolute wet wipes…

Groundhog day. Exactly what I expected to see - the polar opposite of what was needed today. No outball (we gave the goal away cause Lobban? Had absolutely no options in front of him). Complete failure to retain the ball - as usual. Cup final heroics or not, we need a new keeper. Mitov is a complete liability. The occasional good save just doesn’t make up for his complete inability to use his fucking feet (and brain). Only hope is another Jekyll & Hyde second half - but its us, vs them, so not much chance of that. There are times I genuinely dislike my teqm - today is one of those.
-
Pretty much same Tim team as Wednesday. Small, physically weak, can be bullied and got at. Hope JT saw the second half of that one…
-
This one is absolutely there for the taking - with the right attitude and approach. I just cant feel overly confident given our truly abysmal track record against this lot. Put it this way, if I was a Tim then AFC is exactly the team I’d want to be playing against today…

Domestically, we’ve become more difficult to beat. Less stupid goals being given away, but you still know the next ones just round the corner. We are playing some good stuff in patches (2nd half Killie etc) which we just weren’t doing at all early on this season, but we still cannot string a full 90 mins together. That’s a tough run, it will be interesting to see how we perform. The trouble is, I don’t think any of us can say with any certainty what we will get served up by this lot…
-
You don’t agree we are miles off it at this level? We’ll definitely have to agree to disagree if that’s the case. Tough draw absolutely - which shows the massive flaw in this setup, it provides completely uneven playing fields - but we had similar tough opponents under Robson & performed much better. Noah showed where we really are. No guarantees we’d have had anything different or better with anyone else…

If he’d played the duds (who then just proved they are duds) with a view to being in the best possible place for Sunday - then yes. That result and performance did him no favours, squad or scoreline wise…
-
If it was 6-0 so be it. Would just prove the duds are exactly that. If they can’t get up to “put themselves in the shop window” that’s on them. Also absolutely no harm done to the actual first team. We got away with one last night injury wise as that pitch was absolutely dreadful. Bigger picture / pick yer battles and all that - let’s see what happens Sunday. Can’t help thinking that selection last night won’t do us any favours, though the tactics I expect JT to employ are likely to do more harm to our chances IMO…
-
We’re supposed to be “competitive in Europe” at the end of the 3 years. He’s gonna have to have 3 unbelievably good transfer windows between now and May 27 to achieve that like…
-
Personally, last night I’d have just played everyone who was out in the cold, on the way out or not likely to start on Sunday - Yengi, Ambrose, Nilsen, Palaversa, Milanovic etc. Sunday is way more important than that game last night. The fact he went for a bit of a half way house is what I don’t like, not the fact he played a lad he doesn’t want out of position. He does that to players he does like too…
-
Karlsson will be away after this season too…
-
A bit of all three would be my guess OBI. None are a good look and make him (and the club) just look stupid. As I’ve said before. Pep has A LOT to answer for in modern day fitba…
-
This is a game where we need to go out aggressive, press hard and get in their faces, like St Mirren did & Dundee Utd did second half on Wednesday. Its as rare as hens teeth, but they are genuinely fragile just now, and absolutely there to be got at and rattled. You just know however that we’ll do the absolute polar opposite…
-
True, but nobody can say he remotely did anything to change anyone at the clubs view of him. Poor attitude all round…
-
True, they say the league doesn’t lie, but that’s definitely not the case here with the ridiculous format. Doesn’t change the fact we’ve performed poorly overall again and are absolutely miles off it at European level. I’d also suggest that tonight showed exactly why Polvara and Clarkson are deemed surplus to requirements - though they’re not the only ones tbf…
-
Well thank fuck that’s over- a total waste of everyones time. We’ll get all the usual guff about learning from the experience, but there’s no learning that can bridge the gap in basic technical ability & game intelligence with this lot. Only positive, no serious injuries on that horrific surface. Crocked two of their own players. Yes it was a tough draw, but we finished behind 2 Irish teams & Lincoln fuckin Red Imps. I bet theres a few others in there with smaller budgets than us too. We’re absolutely miles off it at this level, miles. Jesus wept…
-
Sums it up - what a joke…
-
Good, anyone else he wants to start on Sunday should be pulled off (oooer) now too. Damage limitation mode (theyve pretty much given up now anyway), hopefully no injuries and get this pointless european farce over and done with…
-
That, of course is what an inverted winger is supposed to do. Naturally, ours don’t…
