  1. No shit sherlock!

Thomson spent money badly. And he only really started investing massively was when he knew he was dying so he could leave a legacy.

And if Milne really was the die-hard Dons fan he claimed to be he would invest his cash in the club, much like me or you do.

    lets see now

i win several million on the lottery. Do I invest in a football club?

Do I fuck. id be as well just burning the suitcase the money is delivered in

  2. Absolutely bang on.

It's odd that the club mysteriously seems to find the money to pay off contracts of their current management team at their caprice followed by compensation for other clubs managers.  However, when it comes to players, there's nae a biscuit tin to be found.

Eddie Thomson's strategy may have been a bit extreme but what SM doesn't seem to realise is that he could make himself an overnight hero by investing just 1% of his personal wealth into the club, 2% and I'd carry him to the games on my own back.

The club appear to constantly put the cart before the horse and demand the support of the fans to improve the product on the park.  I say put the product on the pitch first and save your breath asking.

    Over and out.

Thompson is a legend at tannadice you say?

what exactly has all his investment brought united?

    2002-03 11th

    2003-04 5th

    2004-05 9th

    2005-06 9th

    2006-07 9th

    2007-08 5th & League cup final

    2008-09 5th

    Wow. I mean wow!

I think that about sums up todays reality tv culture. YOu are classed as legendary for achieving mediocre to fuck all.

  3. Personally im starting to get fed up with this

Unless ive been imagining things this is the latest of several interviews to the media in whcih mcGhee has wheeled out the 'we havent got any money which is why ive struggled to buy people'

I dont know if i should be angry with

    1) McGhee for continuing to moan about the subject to the press instead of keeping his mouth shut and getting on with things. lack of funds is no fucking excuse for sending out a team that couldnt manage a single shot on target last saturday.

    2) The press for not bothering to do any work and just going back down merkland road to old Mark because hes always good for a soundbite.'

If he just said the following i might start to get some respect for him:

'Dear mr media man. Im not going to/ im not allowed to sign mediocre shite which is unortunate because thats all we can afford. Come back when something interesting happens and not before!'

But i fear that come every few weeks from now an almost identical interview shall appear AGAIN and AGAIN!

  4. I'd hazard a guess at 3,000 behind the goal and a few hundred in the main which is also set aside for away support

According to scottish ground guide there are up to 1000 in the old main stand.

If it goes all ticket id advise to avoid the main stand at all costs unless you are under 5ft tall.

It gives the Jerry Kerr stand down the street a run for its money.  :hammer:

  5. Was it not the case that leighton rated Ryan Esson over David Preece a few seasons back only for Preece to make the no.1 slot his own after several cock ups by Ryan

(I was always concerned that Esson was often in the Aberdeen Uni Union playing pool on the friday night before a home match)

Leighton was (and probably still is) a fine goalkeeper but that doesnt mean he is a good coach.

Those that Can do, those that Cant, teach etc etc

Cant say I really rated Meldrum but maybe he is a good teacher

The new £28m Aberdeen Sports Village is firing its starting gun for the public on Saturday.

Two leading Kenyan runners - Shedrack Korir and Gideon Gathimba - are flying in to launch the open day.

The sports village's attractions include running facilities, a full size indoor football pitch, squash and badminton courts, and gym.

It is a joint venture between Aberdeen City Council, the University of Aberdeen and sportscotland.

There are also facilities for netball, basketball, volleyball and indoor hockey.

The complex is based on the site of the former Chris Anderson Stadium.

It has already been selected as a training venue for the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London.

Aberdeen Sports Village chairman George Yule, said: "It really is for use by everyone and will be an asset, not only to the people of Aberdeen city and shire, but to the north east as a whole.

"This local sports facility has been designed to international standards, with the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in mind."

Aberdeen City Council leader John Stewart, added: "Aberdeen Sports Village will be a hub of activity, providing sport activities for local residents, visitors to the city and training facilities for elite athletes. These facilities are fantastic."

Aberdeen University principal, Prof Sir Duncan Rice, said: "The facilities will be of great benefit to all students with an interest in sport and health and will help to promote the development of elite athletes, whom we will now be able to attract from all over the world."

Louise Martin, chair of sportscotland, said the new village supported the Scottish Government's drive to improve regional sports facilities.

so are AFC getting to use this or  is it still the beach and localpark?

  7. Why is it that in the mind of the football fan if a Chairman/Club owner isnt seen to be splashing the cash then he's doing a bad job? Big money signings are exciting, but I want our club to exist in some shape or form in twenty years time.

Did all this bitching about chairmens not spending cash exist in the 70s and 80s

Or did it suddenly coincide with Jack Walker buying the premiership.
