Think devlin will be a solid signing for us. And big Ruby at the back will get booked most games. Just hope he lasts this gameā¦..and many!
-
Oh. And morris hasnāt been shite!
-
And Iāll add itās only one half. But definitely a clearly different approach to playing Celtic. Refreshing attitude/mentality, what so many have cried out for.
-
2 preventable goals, big fan of shinnie but needless shinnie foul for the first and obviously devlinās error. However, I can take that given we are actually trying to play and attack. Breath of fresh air seeing a first half like that against Celtic.
-
Agree. Signing good players is hard! It also gives polvara morris and Duncan an opportunity to show they are capable of contributing. From the team today I donāt see them as being long term starters and expect at least 3 more signings, which could include loans on the very last day of the window. The bullshit timing of the window and our league starting means we cannot really judge the squad in august, we have to be patient and hope things go our way this month.

Sooo European Football again eh?

I donāt think thereās a single person here who wouldnāt prefer the good old days where we could compete with Real Madrid and Bayern munich, and have extended runs in Europe. We didnāt focus on money because it wasnāt a huge issue. Weāre worlds away from that now. Money has totally ruined the game, I loved the old euro format of the three tournaments, league winners, cup winners etc. but thatās long gone. the only way to compete domestically and in Europe is to focus on money, become an excellent business. Teams like Ajax are the perfect example of developing youth, and thereās plenty examples of teams who buy then sell players for millions profit. We have to earn more money in order to advance in standards of performance and hopefully success. We have to be a better business if we want to compete. That means more money, better players, better performances. Thereās no other way than the current model of selling on youth and flipping players like Rama. Ticket sales, sponsorship, and the club shop just donāt bring in enough. Youāre living in the past if you donāt consider money. -

Almost the opposite for me. More money affords better players, better chance of greater success in the future, home and abroad. Itās all about long term, one decent season here and there doesnāt appeal, I want us to build something better. -
Quiet morning after our first game! fair to say we are committed to 3 at the back, and playing 3-5-2. Canāt see Williams or ruby coming here to come off the bench and Macdonald has been excellent for us. Thought ruby looked really solid although that was a game very suited to him. I also think weāre committed to 2 up top. Mcgarry and devlin as wing backs Iād assume. Weāre missing another central midfielder with Rama gone despite the up talk of polvara. Cormack said 4-5 signings, surely itās a central midfielder and wingers were looking at to finish the squad rebuild. Any names out there? And as for Liam scales, looking at the squad now, despite a different type of player I think ruby was his replacement in the squad. Mackenzie and Mcgarry, plus Hayes, have left back/wingback covered.
-
Not quite sure I understand you regarding āthe defense,ā in terms of relationship heād have the same keeper and be next to Macdonald again, the two closest to him. Williams or slob replacing pollock. Youāll train that 4 to work together, assuming itās a back 3, full faith it would work. The big unit today didnāt look much different to pollock and I have to believe Williams has to be decent. Actually intrigued to see Mcgarry as an attacker based on your comments, thought Hayes looked average at best today, showed his age.
-
I thought Hayes looked 35 today, couldnāt beat his man for pace, his bread and butter. Think Richardson is better than Morris, hopefully his loan gets him better. Morris is a back up. Whatās the deal with Vinny?? We have to have attacking width and neither Hayes or Morris gave us much at all. Cormack said 4-5 signings, hopefully 5 with Rama leaving. Think we need right and left mid, plus a ramaās replacement.
-
Iād say thatās Barry Robson tactics. Didnāt go all out to win the game, played not to lose it and pick up an away point. First to last minute we didnāt play pretty but played hard not to lose. Iād rather have seen or Dadia come on and move devlin forward, polvara gave nothing on the right, did no more than morris there. Would rather ester came on for Duk, he was poor today.
-
Interesting to note Celtic have a ādefensive crisisā and scales doesnāt even make the match squad today. Scales on the left of a 3 while the NZ boy at left wing back please.
-
I will add, love the away kit!
-
Brutal game. Polvara was decent but I definitely think a signing to replace Rama is needed. Thought the big slob was very good although they played to his strengths Iād say. Morris looks very much the player we had last year and hayes doesnāt have the dangerous pace to beat most players any more. Minimal width today which will make every game tough. Teams will lose there, could have been better, could have been worse.
-
Not key but polvara has played some very impressive technical passes. Give him time to relax and get confidence, maybe a player there.
-
Morris has had the ball in the final third a few times. Done nothing and yet to see this lightening pace he supposedly possesses.
-
Good god brutal watch.
-
Hey, positive spin. McKenna was bang average at ayr and through luck an opportunity arose to play and he took it. Rest is history, maybe it repeats itself with polvara! Hope so, would be a huge gain.
-
I wonder if polvara is the replacement based on recent comments from Robson, Hayes etc.
-
Agreed. At the same time, did we miss the boat with McKenna and fail to seek him at his most valuable. Even Barron, done nothing since the hype of last year. Again, I agree, losing Rama is a big deal and far from ideal timing, but also frees up funds to sign perhaps a more creative player, different from a Barron or shinnie. Remember, we signed Rama when we didnāt have shinnie. Not ideal but we should get solid money for Rama, opportunity to upgrade.
-
Hard one to assess, Iām going to assume Macdonald doesnāt make it. Purely a guess, but - roos milne slob mackenzie Shinnie barron devlin clarkson hayes duk miovski The strength and security of a team comes from the defense and I have no clue if our defense is any good. Iād say highest scoring team wins. 3-2 us, Duke miovski and ester

Itās a business plan to make us a more financially sound club. Ideally it takes us to the point where we donāt need to sell. This, along with developing and selling youth, is the only way for our club to survive.
-
Reading Michael hectorās recent comments, I think itās very easy to fall in love with the club, fans, and city. We do a good job Iāll say. However, as has obviously been stated many times, if you have the opportunity to get a significant pay increase to give your family a better standard of living, thatās very hard to turn down. Iād say especially if you come from a poor āeastern blockā type country. Unlike clarkson, a youngster still early in his career, Rama is 27, time to make money! Sad to see him go but fond memories and good luck to him.
-
I think Rama is like willo flood, had his fans but also some didnāt rate him. I think rama does a job for us, weāve just struggled for flair, creativity, and width and he does more than he should. Will be tough to replace.
-
Iāll give or dadia and Sokler time, more curious of polvara, Morris, and Mackenzie. Can they be contributors to our squad or back ups when we are desperate? Mackenzie has to step up now, itās time and we need a left back/wing back (although signing scales solves that), plus both Morris and polvara play positions we donāt have real squad depth. Would really help the team and squad if all 3 come good, but thatās probably unrealistic. Certainly a little concerned too that we appear very reliant on a 35 yr old Hayes on the left side. Definitely need a left midfielder/winger.
