  1. Scotland voted for independence. We allowed (quite rightly) the 380000 or so English born residents and 100000 or so other eligible resident nationalities to participate in the referendum. Only around 10% of the English and around 60% of the "others" voted Yes. So discounting those No votes, or even discounting the English/others votes in total, either way the result would have been a Yes victory (52% to 48%) FWIW I reckon Salmond goofed by going for it too soon. We know the under 30s are strongly in favour (nearly 80% in favour) but the older generation strongly Unionist...not surprising being born around WW2 or earlier, seeing creation of NHS, state pensions, welfare etc. Until that generation are mostly gone the numbers just dont stack up. I hope Sturgeon has the good sense to hang fire at least another 5 years to call another referendum as we cannot seriously expect another one for at least a generation should Indyref2 go the wrong way
  2. 2 words HE'S SHITE
  3. Perhaps there shouldn't be but there is and the SFA haven't done anything obvious to remedy a situation that has reoccurred throughout the decades. Perhaps my ire should be focussed on the authorities, we know it was a genuine mistake on Hearts' part. (And had it been us or celtic or sevco that had done it we would also have escaped lightly). You can rest assured had it been one of the diddy teams that had transgressed they would have copped the full penalty. Also.....had this happened in the knockout stages the cop out would not have been available to them. Hearts would have forfeited the tie......
  4. The onus is on the club to ensure all their players are properly registered. Had the SFA f@cked up there woiuld have been an admission of this and no penalty levied. Also Hearts have not appealed the decision......ergo they know they were at fault
  5. If it had been any other team in that group fielding an ineligible player you can bet your bottom dollar it would have been the full 3 points docked. Making it just the 2 points made it still mathematically possible for Fartz to qualify providing they won both their remaining games (which you really would have expected them to do anyway given the relative financial superiority and both were at Tynecastle). And with the draw they have got in the last 16 should expect a relatively easy passage into the quarters. These cheating bastards could just go all the way. Absolutely disgusting.
  6. Trouble after sevco beat Wigan 3-0 earlier today. Running battles with bottles getting lobbed in Hope Street as Wigan fans tried to get back to Central Station. Theres video of it all on you tube. Some hun roaster went on twitter to beg sevconians not to share the footage if they receive it. However the Dhims are sharing it in a similar manner to Jesus and his loaves and fishes trick..... Fucking neanderthals
  7. Obviously i hope sevco get shocked at home on Thursday and go out. However if they progress can't remem who they drew but IIRC it looked like being yet another easyish tie. So if Burnley do indeed progress then I hope to hell the get the tribute act in round 4 and stick 5 past the gits home and away
  8. I think it's over. I don't rate their defence particularly highly but they are a lot better than us in midfield and attack. We certainly won't be disgraced though. Actually wouldn't be surprised at a 0-0 draw though more likely a 1 or 2 nil defeat. Would love to be proved wrong though. However as I've stated elsewhere.......sevco next Sunday really should be our priority and I'd settle for us going out as long as our players get through the tie uninjured.
  9. It probably was McKenna's fault to be fair. Got caught wrong side of Vokes and seemed to lose sight of the ball after Vokes' first touch. However Hoban also has to take a share of the blame was outmuscled by Vokes as the ball was dropping. Devlin entirely blameless. I'd agree McKenna does still have the odd howler in him but he's good for 5 goals a season which should easily counteract those howlers and his distribution has improved a thousand percent in the past 6 months. Would any of our fans really swap him for Mee? I doubt a single one would.
  10. Hes isnt "one for the future"....he's a first choice Scotland international who has captained his country. Would be a massive upgrade on your guy....
  11. So would you advise your manager to put in an offer for our left sided central defender McKenna? £10million is the asking price. If he offered a straight swap for yours (Mee I think he's called) I'd tell him to f@ck right off. And supposedly yours is worth £15million
  12. No. I'm basing it on the fact that Celtic operate on a different level to anyone else in Scotland, have Champions league experience (and if they had access to the cash that English clubs have would do fairly well in it) and they have a decent manager with a squad that allows him to almost have 2 separate full teams, one to play the Champions League fixtures and top end SPFL games and another to face the SPFL diddy teams and cup matches. I stick to my assertation. They'd beat Burnley every time at the Dhimmery... As said before Lancy......the Rangers of the era you beat them are dead and buried. They also got beaten by even worse teams than you lot in the Anglo-Scottish cup (i think Mansfield did them one year but the Scottish clubs only really used it as a training exercise for their fringe players).
  13. The boy that Hibs signed a couple of weeks back Kamberi was up for sale at a quoted £2million by his parent club in Switzerland. Within the month Hivs got him on board for around £250k...... Doidge will be sold for around £300k in the end. Whether or not that's to us remains to be seen.
  14. FWIW I believe Celtic would beat Burnley at home every time and absolutely smash them on occasion. Away from they'd only lose perhaps once every 3 games so I guess I'm agreeing with Gordon.
  15. Don't think May can be criticised for his performance when the team continued the same tactics as when Cosgrove was on.....high balls aimed in his general direction just isn't his game. He needs the ball into feet or played into space behind the defenders. He played one fantastic pass into Wright which would have had him through on goal had he not somehow managed to fall over his own feet. More worrying is that Cosgrove suffered cramp after only 65 minutes or so. Sure he was plying a lone furrow up top but that suggests a lack of conditioning.
  16. Devlin m.o.m. for me, Ball, McGinn and GMS not far behind. Bad goal to lose, McKenna got a bit bullied by Vokes, seemed to lose sight of the ball. Overall draw probably a fair result, can't see us progressing now but would be delighted if the boys can prove me wrong
  17. Bizarre comments from Monty. Good God how can he ever compare what looks like being the European team with the ones of the mid eighties and early nineties containing the likes of Faldo, Ballesteros, Langer, Lyle, Olazabal and Woosnam is beyond belief. And as said earlier, even the team he captained at Celtic Manor would wipe the slate with that of this year's likelies . I predict a winning margin for USA of 5 points or greater
  18. As McInnes said yesterday, it's a long season ahead and better to wait to get the right guy on board than blow the budget on dross just to bulk out the squad. We got 2 guys in yesterday who have improved the squad substantially in positions that needed strengthening. Our situation it's more important to have a quality striker in place for the sevco game. The Burnley ties should be viewed as a nice little earner with the chance to show the media, both English and Scottish, that despite the gulf in finances, the gulf in quality isn't as large as they think. As the season progresses we should also be looking to get Anderson, Ross and Campbell as much game time as possible.
  19. It wasnt a training session just planned to visit the ground. And was mentioned on the official Burnley FC website.... The story is also in the Lancashire Telegraph
  20. Guy who mentioned it is pretty sound with his info. All is not well down Everton way. Dressing room united in wanting Niasse out apparently. Now I'm only reporting 3rd hand what's been mentioned. Would be a stunning piece of business if there's legs in it....
  21. It isnt going away.....
  22. Coulibaly not happening according to the Hat. Someone tweeted him on his personal account got reply that he didn't know anything about it. Another name doing the rounds is Oumar Niasse......
  23. I watched a bit of their game last week in Macedonia. Sevco were honking. Their one player who looked decent was McGregor who had 2 fantastic saves to keep Siroki out. As I said....no evidence of them being any good as yet.....
  24. Not going to plan so far for Burnley. Plane they were due to fly up on "gone tech" ie f@cked. Not expected to arrive in ABZ before 9pm. Have cancelled press conference and also cancelled visit to Pittodrie that they were going to do on arrival.
  25. No. By all accounts he has a huge squad. No evidence as yet of it being good or indeed any better than last season's failures. Nor any evidence that he will be a competent coach/manager.
