First fixture between us and consi on Scottish soil, post divorce. We really neee to be getting three points here but have no idea if we’ll get our shit together in time for it. They’ve had as mixed of a start to the season as we have, 2 losses and a win. Although they even managed to beat Motherwell. So it’ll probably end up as a draw but probably not your stale 0-0 or 1-1, as we can score but can’t defend.

really need to sort our defence out and get mccrorie playing where he needs to. Can’t see Roos being dropped.

Agreed, cracking player, would be phenomenal business if we could get him permanently. Was great against the Tims too. Reminds me of Max Lowe.

Good performance today and kudos to Goodwin, that 4-1-4-1 nullified all our weaknesses. Good management, and good subs. Not overly concerned about not scoring more, as we certainly looked like we could. Don't think there was a bad performer today (although don't think Morris is going to be good enough). Ref let a lot go, which helped the game flow and it was as enjoyable to watch as it's possible for a St Johnstone game to be. The goal was just absolutely class. Very much going all the way that young lad.

To be fair, since I questioned him, decent game from Roos. Held a couple too that could have popped out to the onrushing attacker. He has his weaknesses but played well today.

 Coulson was my man of the match today….a proper footballer. Plenty good performers though. 

Agreed re Coulson, he was outstanding today as was Hayes who for his age showed phenomenal. fitness 

Jonny Hayes covered soooo much ground today. Brilliant to see. McCrorie as well, charged about and had a great second half. 
thought the Defence in general were good today. 
felt sorry for Ramirez today. Sent out to warm up on his own. Almost as soon as he was sent out, they subbed off Miovski. Ramirez raging and hauled off his subs Bib as he walked frustratedly back to the dugout. 

Thought we did really well today. disappointing and unlucky not to get at least one other. The first miovski chance is a tough one as you can’t quite see due to the camera angle, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. The goal was worthy to win any game. Superb hit.
 

Ross Mccrorie was on fire, covered an unbelievable amount of ground. As others have said, there are still many flaws, but that was an infinitely better performance compared to last week. It’s only st Johnstone but hopefully the defence take a lot of confidence from that. Much better.

Relatively happy we yday though we need to sharpen the fuk up with our finishing. I also feel Ramirez isn't being given a chance here & goowin needs to stop being a stubborn prick & give him some minutes! 

I can't see Goodwin keeping enough of the players happy! Take Clarksons goal out and we drop another 2 points, Bojan apart from his offside goal was poor in spells, I like Coulson seems a vry good player.

Clarkson strike was only way we were winning game yesterday. Created very few real chances prior to it and felt game had 0-0 written all over it. Had a few more opportunities after the goal as St Johnstone tried to push out a bit more. Looked more solid defensively yesterday but not sure how much of that was down to St Johnstone having zero attacking intent or better play from us. Roos save in 2nd half looked good on first viewing but having seen it back on tv. he maybe got lucky no striker followed the strike in as he pushed the ball straight out in to the middle of the goal.

Sure about that? From what I saw we had quite a few chances. No glaring sitters, but mccrorie had chances, miovski, clarkson, then Morris had a couple at the end to name a few. We’re definitely reliant on pace and width though, and with improved sharpness we score a few more. I can see us giving someone a tanking in the coming weeks.

still see a creative 10 coming in. Ronan dropped out of the wolves match squad yesterday fwiw.

Think most of the chances you are talking about were after the goal when St Johnstone were trying to push out more which was what I said above. Prior to the goal we really only had Miovski’s offside goal.

Don’t really remember but I watched the start of the game. I do recall a great ball by clarkson in behind that miovski failed to connect with, plus a cross that miovski completely missed a header, then miovski and Vinny got in each other’s way from a cross, three early chances. We also scored shortly after half time too, not like all our chances came in the last 10 mins. You’re being a little harsh in my opinion.

Maybe a wee bit but I don't think he's being harsh on Roos.  Jury is still well put on him for me

He was definitely what I was alluding to re: mistakes in the team. We were very lucky to not have been punished for his mistake.

Agree that the Miovski goal looked very tight hopefully the introduction of VAR includes the installation of a few more cameras around the grounds as the shots we have for this one are completely inconclusive. St Johnstone have been tough to break down for a good while, so a one nil and a couple of chances away from home is fine with me. I do agree that Goodwin is being stubborn in trying to put his mark on this team. I think from what I've seen of Roos he is worse than Joe Lewis but I feel Lewis is suffering simply from being one of the old guard. Still feel Ramirez is on the way out and that obviously contributes to the reluctance to give him minutes.

Goodwin favours Roos as he wants to pass out for the back and it is fair to say he's better than Lewis at that.  Time will tell on Roos. 

 

Very much agree on the latter point. CR99 will be on a pretty big wage too.

Is that the back of a seat that I see being paraded above their heads as the leave McDairmid? I really hope I’m wrong but it looked like there were a few bits of seats being held up at the end of the game, like some kind of trophy.

Think its safe to say Ive seen dons fans breaking seats at most of the away games ive attended (one of the many reasons I can no longer be bothered going anymore) so no surprise if it is the case.

I’ve not been to a huge amount of away games but I’ve been to a good few in my time and I’ve never seen that. 
it’s the sort of thing that I associate Rangers as doing in the away end at Pittodrie, because it used to happen all the time with that lot but, I always thought, perhaps naively, that we were better than that. 
The noise from our fans on the weekend was brilliant. You could see the manager and players respond to that at full time. 
but FFS…don’t smash the place up. 

In no way advocating what they've done, but I've been with people who have had seats fall apart on them, but i've also seen some break them.  My first reaction to seeing this was however, oh god, why?

I don't think the Dons are immune to having neds in our support, we're not some sort of superior race. I wouldn't be surprised if we see (and are already seeing perhaps) a marked increase in violence over the next few years or so. Maybe not a return to the eighties, but certainly some modern version of that. I heard a rumour that our fans attacked a St Mirren bus the other week (they definitely had an unmarked police escort out of the city, which I think is very unusual for that type of fixture). There was trouble with some Motherwell neds last season. There just appears to be a volatility that wasn't there previously. I suspect that these things go hand in hand with societal issues, with football being the avenue for people's frustration. As always, it'll likely be easy enough to avoid for the most part.
