The only way it will be Leven until summer will be if we're in the unusual Ā situation of rejecting everyone we've interviewed, or being rejected by everyone we've interviewed.

The anarchist in me almost hopes it's the former for the bants šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Pretty sure that’s it and we’re waiting until summer when options change.

Incidently have you heard anything about how many candidates are being interviewed at all?Ā

No. All the fun has been sucked out of this managerial search.

Has there ever been less speculation about a new manager?

You're right. Probably the way it should be to be honest. When none of us have a clue about half the options, we'd really only be telling each other how much we don't want Robinson, but that we'd get behind him if he did get the job. The new manager every season got boring before and after Calderwood, and again after McInnes. It's quite jading.Ā

I feel sorry for whoever it is having such a shower of shite to pick from. Can't believe we have brought in more before he actually arrives.

You have to keep things moving in windows, it's a disaster not to.Ā

Spent a fortune and we are light years behind Falkirk and Motherwell.Ā

Whilst quality has clearly been an issue, imbalance is the real problem. Why on earth it's taken us until January to recognise the need for a strong midfielder is beyond me. We should have been getting much more from guys like Aouchiche, and Clarkson by just playing them correctly and understanding the roles they can play in. The idiocy of signing Cameron when we've got Armstrong and Clarkson was on full display today. Even Shinnie has been hung out to dry this season by still expecting him to do the work of two midfielders. We've offered zero platform for any of the signings - shite as many may be - to give their best.Ā

I really don’t understand the Cameron signing, there must be more to it.Ā

Only explanation would be we expected both Auchiche and Clarkson away?

Even then, Armstrong is clearly better as a number ten (I mean he plays better there than at eight, not that he's better than Cameron, which is difficult to say), so we've basically had to play him further back to accommodate Cameron, who is a Hun who'll only play for us if it turns out he's pish. Clarkson has been sidelined for Cameron too, and I'm completely convinced that he's a better player than Cameron by a distance.Ā

The only possible explanation I can think of is the club still see him as the long term No. 10 & hope having him on loan will lead to a permanent signing.

Lots of holes and flaws in that plan of course, but I cannot fathom out any other reason…

It's almost like because we were in for him before we don't want to give up on the idea. A fear of missing out on a guy rather than accept we don't need someone in that position. We see it quite a lot to be honest. That's where I'd have hoped that the sporting director would step in and at least play devil's advocate. Maybe they're under the impression that we are good enough to play two attack minded midfielders against teams (especially at home). I don't think it's possible in the SPFL. Or it at least requires a very good Shinnie type player in his prime, which are hard to come by. We certainly don't have one.Ā

Agree- Cameron is the younger Armstrong at no 10, not fitting them both in to same team

maybe it was just to get another 5 foot 7 Ā player into the midfield to make Shinnie feel taller

You jest, but I think the height is actually fairly important. We tried and failed to play Clarkson in there because he was easy to press until he ended up playing in the same spot as the other midfielders (Barron was the casualty of that). Armstrong is 6ft. Whilst not a giant, he defends the ball better with his back to goal, whilst also capable of being more direct. It's rare that you get a small number ten in the SPFL that is successful. Maybe at the Tims perhaps, but I can't think of one. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cameron occupying the deep role that Clarkson and Barron play in after his next move. I don't think it would take long for teams to figure out Cameron at number ten. Perhaps Killie already did.Ā

I can see arguments for not appointing anyone until after the cup game - certainly letting Leven take the (drubbing of) the Celtic game.Ā  Was thinking about this (now I've had a beer) and we've had our arses handed to us by Killie in the "Winter" Rugby Park fixture for the last 3 seasons now (albeit, the other 2 were by McInnes, who at least was competent), and if we're not sure that any of the current options for "head coach" are going to bring an immediate and sustainable improvement with the current squad, maybe we just hang Leven out as a scapegoat for the rest of the season.Ā  He's been a constant through the chaos of the last 3-4 years, so should be getting his jotters once this incumbent spell is over, but does buy time to maybe get more options and gives the new boy an untarnished run from the start of next season.

Oh, and Hinchcliffe needs to go with him - because anyone that's managed to oversee making Mitov the shell of the keeper he was shouldn't be coaching any goalies going forward

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cormack/Lutz would be insisting that any new manager keeps Leven in situ. as seemed to have happened when JT was appointed.

Anyway as a long, long time supporter of the Dandies we need another Eddie Turnbull - comes in, keeps us in the top Division and in the summer gets rid of all the dross/shirt shirkers, builds a team (aye, a team).Ā  Ā So who's managing QP at the moment?
