Panda Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Basically Hearts were set to lose Shankland for free last summer, but wanted one more year out of him - which worked well since it almost brought the title. They're fairly relaxed about it as they expected it to happen and have two replacements lined up. I do wonder what this means for Miovski though. A few years ago you would have needed to pay big money to sign Shankland & Miovski together. Rangers have got them both for a fraction of the cost. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Miovski is moved on this summer. Quote

I’d take Miovski back in a heartbeat without shame (not a loan!). If this season has taught me anything about myself it’s that I have zero principles when it comes to football. Thing is, does anyone have any principles any more? Money rules and has ruined football. It’s mercenary football for the most part now, I suppose more so in bigger league though to be fair. How many players stay for loyalty or love of the club. You can make so much money in football now that sets you up for life. Would Miller or McLeish have stayed at Aberdeen if man utd offered them 10 or 20 times their wage?? back in ‘67 Celtic won the European cup with every player born within 10 miles of parkhead. Now they only have two scots who regularly make their starting line up. Rangers wouldn’t sign Catholics. I remember when mark Walters signed for rangers, that brought quite a reaction. You still don’t see many players play for rangers and Celtic, but it happens. Obviously we have our hatred for rangers, but it’s very different times now and do some fans maybe have ‘old fashioned’ expectations? id take bojan back, don’t grudge him for the career decisions he made. Saying that, I’ve said before i’d sign rangers or Celtic players without question, but I’ve lived abroad for over 30 years so maybe I’m a little out of touch? I’m my lifetime Robertson, snelders, Steven and Scott wright, Barron, jack, trying to think of who else went to ibrox. remember being gutted when tattie cooper went to rangers. Even dougie bell who I thought was a super player. Obviously dons legends there, cooper especially. I also thought Jim bett was an excellent dons player, but one who came from rangers. what’s the difference with bojan here? if anything isn’t the blow softened that he didn’t go straight to rangers, and came back to Scotland earning a lot more money and rangers offered more than we could. Cooper was clearly a fans favorite, a local lad, and loved the club. Very different, but bojan was a very popular and likeable guy. Don’t recall bojan saying anything negative about us…..but I could be wrong? Edited 13 hours ago by OrlandoDon 1 Quote
