Scotland squad

No Shinnie or Christie???

Wtf Strachan.

I agree we should keep the same team who should've beaten England but bringing in Whittaker and excluding them?

Playing from two different teams as well.

ETA - I thought it was a typo but there are indeed two Cole Burke’s.

So what's the deal with Lewis Carroll?  What are the swathes of rich English suitors seeing that we aren't?

He's a sixteen year old centre half, there's nothing we're missing. The Dons would love him to sign a five year deal and get him in the first team in a few years time.

Looks like doak is out for the rest of the season 🤦‍♂️

We've got another attacking threat though, don't we?

Ah, no, oh well.

Congrats to Kevin Nisbet upon his call up to the squad for the forthcoming games

Lennon Miller & James Wilson given their first call ups at senior level.

Absolutely delighted for him. I said when he was announced that I wasn't sure about his attitude and he really has made me eat my words.  He's 100% made the Scotland squad on merit 👏👏👏

Fantastic. Well deserved.

Nobody called James Wilson should be allowed to play professional football in my opinion.

Dunno like, he looks pretty handy.  My Jambo neighbour would happily suck him off if the opportunity presented itself.

It was a swipe at the James Wilson we had a few years back. Jambo JW was fairly quiet up here in the last game. I actually think Bobby Wales at Killie looks the better player, but he's a year older.

Oh I got the reference 😂😂.   Wilson was a funny one for us, I mind him scoring a couple of worldies insterpersing a highly impressive attempt to steal the nickname "Casper" from Gary MacDonald. He almost succeeded ffs 😱

Not watched a lot of Killie or Hearts in recent times 2bh but my neighbour is usually pretty level headed.  Hope he kicks on though, Scotland need more strikers.

Fletcher Boyd scores in 2-2 draw with North Macedonia.

Big game tonight. Be interesting to see how Clarke lines up for this one. With Tierney in, I reckon he'll revert to a back three, with Tierney inside Robertson. Expect Ralston to be ahead of Johnston too. I think he'll stick with McLean for this one, alongside Gilmour. With Christie, Doak and Morgan out, we'll have zero width, so I think he might go for two of three from Ferguson, McGinn or McTominay behind Adams. It's the away leg, so I expect he'll just try and play it very tight, with little creativity and lots of effort.

Lack of width probably is biggest concern for me. Going with Robertson and one of Johnston or Ralston as wing backs would at least provide some. I personally go with Johnston over Ralston as he is at least starting games at the moment. Agree with Rico on how midfield and forward might look.

I'd go with Johnston too, but Clarke won't. It's a real shame Ramsey stopped playing football a few years back, as he'd have had so many caps by now. We've never really played with width under Clarke, with Doak really the only winger featuring. Christie has never been a winger as such, and even less so these days (although I expect Clarke will play him like one in the return leg). We were able to rely on the form of McTominay and McGinn for a good while in the previous qualifying, and there's no reason that we can't play through teams with those guys in the team, as well as getting something from set pieces won by McGinn expertly falling over. The good thing is that there is a lot of players getting good minutes for their teams at the moment. A fit Scotland team is a good side. An early goal and we'll batter them - B league pish.

The lack of goalkeepers is frightening.

Tierney to move back into defence when needed, but push ahead to join midfield when in possession.

The Nisbet-Ferguson combo to take us all the way to 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 🇨🇦

Not the techie that I wish I was. Looks like the game is on bbc today, any suggestions on how to catch that here in the US?

Tierney in midfield is a very wild shout. I don't think he'd be better than McLean in there. Just as McLean wouldn't be brilliant at left back. The rest looks good though, especially that young lad up front.

Tierney more versatile though, ie he can slip into defence and make it a five, while McLean can't. Tierney also has more of an engine on him going forward than McLean.

Arteta has actually been using Tierney on the left of a front three in their European games.

Might make a video about it and fire it up on social media in an hour or so... 👀

Good idea (the video). Left a front three makes sense, but not sure I'd have him in ahead of McLean sitting. I don't think Tierney uses the ball that well. He's not a natural midfielder. Even though he's a better defender than McLean, I expect that McLean would be far better at dropping in to cover for a defender pushing on, or whatever, as it's the role he's been playing since he was at the Dons.

If we need to move to a three, then he should use the old tradition that I like to refer to as: substitutions.
