Hyundai A-League - Oz fitba

looking fr a decent barney on the telly tomorrow? BT sport at 0945 has the Sydney derby.

The quality may not be top league standard, but there will be no doubting the passion of this one, fueled by comments like this from the Sydney captain

“We go out there, and I’ve told the boys previously in games, we hate every single one of them."

  • Sorry, Al. I just saw your post. I have to say that I really can't get into the A-League. Brisbane Roar are the closest team to me and they are about 600 miles away from me. I really don't find the qu

Im still scratching my head at the massive popularity of Wrexham. Yeah theyre owned by Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds, the latter not exactly the finest of humans, but its not as if either of them will be on the field like a Messi or a David Goldenballs type spectacle.

Yet a team like the Nix who normally command around 8,000 fans per home game suddenly attract 25,000 punters for a friendly. Has anyone told these folks that its Wrexham???

Joys of tv I guess, they’re highly visible and kiwis get fomo. Sydney had an even bigger crowd for them, but yeah, as you say, it’s Wrexham. That also being said, it’s not like we get northern hemisphere teams down here, least of a championship side.

Similar thing happened with Bristol Bears Women's Rugby team when they signed an american sevens player who has almost 4 million tiktok followers.

Ive no idea if she is any good but Bristol ended up shifting some home games to Ashton Gate due to ticket demand.

Given the shit Wrexham got themselves into in the last 20 years i say good on them.

Far cry from the season I went to see them play a few home games where they had Darren Ferguson in the team.

Think I even got to see David Rowson play against them for Stoke

Welcome to Wrexham is really well done, the producers have done a masterful job of getting people invested in the fate of the club and the team have provided some excellent moments to help them sell it.

David Rowson! He was quite handy for us around 1999/2000. Mind you, he was a shining light in an otherwise horrific team - ie he was bang-average
