Maybe we've got a squad we can be positive about, without necessarily saying it's a sure fire certainty we'll win, they'll sure as fuck not fancy taking us on.

Precisely. This game could go either way but I have faith that this squad of players / management team will try sure as hell to make sure we're through to the next round.

BARRY Robson reckons cool heads are required to keep a lid on surging expectations at Aberdeen.

The midfield ace knows fans are buzzing with the Dons flying high in the Premiership and into the last eight of the League Cup.

Motherwell stand in their way of a semi-final spot at Fir Park tonight but Robbo insists everyone at Pittodrie needs to keep the head.

The 34-year-old said: “This is a great club but I’m from Aberdeen so I know exactly what it’s like. I know what people want and what they expect.

“We know what happened in the past and that it would be very hard to get back to that with the finances in the Scottish game.

“But credit to the club as they have brought the manager in to build a good side.

“Everybody seems to be getting carried away with Aberdeen’s prospect more than we are at the club. Let’s be honest we are only 11 league games into the season so we haven’t really started yet.

“We will just keep a lid on what we’re doing and concentrate on getting the benefits from the way we are going about our business. We are certainly not getting ahead of ourselves.

“You have to keep on a straight line and the manager knows all about that. He’s been in the game a long time as he’s been at big clubs and played at big clubs so he knows how it works.

“I think he’s done a great job so far with us so if we just keep listening to him and the coaching staff we will do okay.”

Robbo might be playing it cool but he knows how important tonight’s clash is to Aberdeen and the club’s success-starved fans.

He said: “It’s a massive game. We are looking forward to it and are in good form after the win against Hibs when two subs came on and did well and the other one was terrible – me!

“The cup tie is all about the expectation level and can you deal with that by going there and winning the game.

“We have been preparing well and will be organised and ready for it.

“It’s a big one but lets just see what we can do at Fir Park to see if we can win the match.”
