Aberdeen FC can this afternoon confirm that five members of our Under 20 squad are to leave the club this summer.

 

Goalkeeper Craig Burns, defender Scott Rumsby, who spent last season on loan at Stranraer, midfielder Stephen O'Neill, who played with both Peterhead and East Fife during season 2013/14, as well as Matthew McMahon and striker Alan O'Sullivan, are all departing.

 

Meanwhile, a number of players have signed contract extensions with Aberdeen FC.

 

Kieran Gibbons, Michael Rose and Marcus Campanile have all put pen to paper on a 1 year extension.

 

Craig Murray has also penned a one year deal and will be looking to play his way in to Derek McInnes' first team squad next season.

Hamilton are clearly doing something right at their club, doing well in both SPFL and U20's.

 

Great to see our guys doing so well though. How many of them would be ready for the fringes of the first team?  Obviously we've see Smith, Shankland and most recently Gibbons.

I went along to this yesterday; Shankland's goal was an absolute cracker, superb first time hit on the volley from just outside the box.  Shankland looks a good few levels above his team mates and looks more than ready for the first team; great first touch, good strength and movement.

 

It's the first time i've seen this group together and obviously caught them on an off day. Hamilton were streets ahead of us and I was extremely impressed with them - a lot of nice one touch passing at pace, our lads were chasing shadows, frankly. Their two centre backs were superb and their striker, Brophy, was excellent.

 

The only other Don who got pass marks (just) was Gibbons. He looked to switch the play a lot and has a good range of passing. He was also very vocal and led the team like a captain, but unfortunately he was pissing against the wind as his colleagues were not up to his standard on the day.
