A thought about extra time games

Watching the U20 WC on ESPN here and Uruguay v Iraq has gone to extra timr, after 98 minutes "normal" time. Both sides have used all 3 subs.

The thought occurred to me that, especially with U20, but maybe with all such games, if you've made your 3 subs in regulation you get one more to make in the 30 mins extra time. Would take care of exhaustion, injuries etc. and maybe encourage teams to keep going in the last 10 mins of normal time rather than "save" a sub for ET.

Thoughts?

Never understood why they have not implemented this. Seems so easy to do without any obvious con.

Don't disagree MBT min. When a set of tennis goes into a tie-break the players get an extra challenge each. It's a no brainer.

Tend to agree too. If for no other reason to stop players getting unnecessary injuries playing on in the absence of subs.

Same reason they still had the 3 available subs rule for the scottish cup till after the 2000 cup final. This despite the league allowing clubs to name 5 subs since about 1998

Nothing changes until something bad happens and there is an outcry

Surprised its not the case at youth level, which I would assume U20 is, due to the likely occurance of overuse injuries.
