ABERDEEN manager Mark McGhee has told his dodgy defence to shape up - or risk a Celtic Park hammering.

The blundering Dons back line has failed to keep a clean sheet in 10 games this term and McGhee's men are now two points off the bottom of the SPL.

The under-fire boss has been working all week to find a way to solve the problem and stop the Hoops piling more misery on a side which has taken only four points from a possible 24.

McGhee said: "If we defend and perform like we did against St Mirren, Celtic have players who can take advantage and punish us in every situation.

"We have to be stronger defensively to ensure there's no chance of being annihilated.

"Celtic have got set-piece specialists, runners and proven goalscorers. On top of that they can score from range and have guys who are strong in the air.

Culpable "Losing goals from set-pieces is a real concern. Unfortunately, teams get a corner and we are letting them in to score from that far too often.

"We allowed St Mirren to score with a header directly from a corner.

"Someone was designated to pick up Marc McAusland so he is culpable for letting him get the header. Keeper Mark Howard was also culpable as he came and didn't get the ball.

"Teams will now be thinking all they have to do against us is be a little patient and when they get a corner, fire it into the box and there will be a chance of getting a goal.

"When we go to Celtic we must be ready from the start."

McGhee also confirmed on-loan Rangers striker Andrius Velicka is still not fit and will be out for 'a few more weeks.'

When the manger is coming out and saying his defence is so bad it could be annihilated as its so bad you know things are a mess.

For fuck sake McGhee, change the goalkeeper also. Howard is atrocious at long balls and corners and whilst I'm not pinning all the blame on him as his defence is equally culpable, he gets caught in no mans land more often that not. I would be far more confident with Langfield between the sticks.
